Play big or go home! Sooner or later u will go home. Bad streaks happen and u can not win big all the time, somewhere u will need to weather a bad run and if it happens to your big wagers, see u later.

the point is is that if you don't play big when you get there, then the bad luck will come BUT the expenses will surely be eating you up as well at the same time
so play big early and win and stay or play big early, lose and go home with some money that you have saved that would have gone to expenses over time
yes if you win off the bat and then lose some, well that part i'll leave up to you. i don't give away all secrets
but ultimately patience and discipline are essential if you are to ever win over time and weather the bad manage your losses. don't freak out and do something stupid
start playing smaller til you get hot again then go back to playing larger
these things have been said time and time again but few people know how to actually live them

If you want to take a real shot at it why not get a part time job to pay for living expenses? I think you are low on your expenses, so lets say you need $900 a month to live... That is 20 hours a week at $11.25 an hour. This way the $2700 is about making money, not keeping a roof over your head. Your not as afraid to bet because you can look at that money as an investment and your not worried about where your next meal will come from. If you found a job from 8-2 on Tues. Wed. and Thurs. you have plenty of time for sports/poker.

I have a marker limit of 7k and will be in LV middle of Sept. mostly to wager CFB, NFL, MLB, slots, table games like craps and Pai Gow . Probably Sat. and Sun. devoted to football and baseball, this helps to pass the time instead of staying at the crap tables. Hopefully I get some winners when I am there. Will be going to covers for help.

2700 just isnt enough. I can tell you from my video poker trips this year. I play 1 dollar machines sometimes max credits and sometimes not. Iv'e won over 5000 in a day and iv'e lost over 800 in a day. Its like shadow said though you will go on cold streaks. Iv'e gone periods of 3 or 4 weeks with out hitting anything then you have days where everything hits and you might win a couple thousand. But over those 3 or 4 weeks iv'e easy dropped over 3,000. You have to have enough money to handle the swings. 2,700 dollars doesnt allow you to do that if you want to make any kind of living at it. If you want to play quarter machine video poker playing max credit they suggest at least 1,250 dollar bankroll to handle the swings. 1$ would be 4x that or at least 5,000 to handle the swings. I wouldn't try it with less than 7 to 10 thousand dollars. You will go broke quick.

Everyone's scared of losing money. That's why a solid money management strategy is necessary to success. You can call them donations but if they are instead, calculated risks & non BR threatening investments, you can succeed. A cold streak only endangers your BR if you are betting 25%-50% of your roll. Someone who risks $3000 a week is as likely to be up $18,000 by weeks ens as they are to go bust in 2 days if they only have $5,000-$6,000. But you are right "expenses" are important. How will you live & how much revenue do you need to generate to live that way?

yes, i know you can make it with a $2700 bankroll, Jayvegas420. But there are a few other things that you need to have in your pockets. Based on the replies that you have given to some of the people in here, i have come to the conclusion that you need to lose your asss off at least 2 times. That means you need to hit rock bottom leaving yourself with nothing but the phone calls that you can make back to canada. Each and every single time you hit rock bottom, the people that you call in canada will be accepting you back. if you can't arrange this to make sure this can happen, then you will not be able to make it with a $2700 bankroll.
I cannot reiterate this and make it any more clear to you but many friends and family members do not care to help other people get back on their feet once they are gone. You might be coming across as very weak minded because you don't have any experience yet. And i am going to assume that you have been winning for the last 10 years of your life but you know what? i don't think you've lost anything and that's why you need to hit rock bottom as hard as anyone can imagine it, not once, but at least 2 times as i stated. A boxer needs to get knocked down more than a handful of times to see if it would be worthwhile for him to continue the career. Getting knocked out can further help because by then it's about the recovery time. Of course you don't want to get knocked out more than a few times because it just becomes easier and easier and that's when it can be known that the sport is just not for him and it's time to do something else.
That's fine if you don't want to work and smile about it. With a $2700 bankroll you still need other sources of income especially when you bring up food and housing. If your house was fully paid for without you having to worry about rent, better yet if you found someone who was willing to house you for free, then it would be a different story. But you have not proven anything special as far as your case goes.
It's your job to prove everyone wrong firsthand before they could respond to you in order to let you know that $2700 is not enough. What special case do you have? The fact of the matter is that when someone has a special case, there is no need to ask for anyone's help to anyone but their own self. Sure you can get lucky but you can decrease the chances of luck coming into play by losing your asss off more than once because i guarantee you that your brain won't be asking the type of questions you've been doing in here. What you are basically leaving behind in this thread are a set of footprints and it doesn't smell good at all. Be lucky that many people in here are coming across as trying to help you but there are a lot of sharks who can smell your blood and would bite your head off any chance they get with any further windows that you leave open.
honestly i don't think you need to come to las vegas permanently. Assuming that you are in canada, you have a single major advantage alone that no one in the united states has and that is the ability to get a pinnacle account. And that's just 1 thing and 1 thing only without looking at the other advantages that i know people there have.
So the answer to your question is yes you can make it with $2700, but you are definitely not ready yet. One thing you can do is buy a house in las vegas that is fully paid for so that you don't have to worry about the $130 weekly rate that you had mentioned. If you have an ethic in canada that is a combination of working hard and smart at the same time, it's possible that you won't even have to endure any type of rock bottom loss within the next 10 years especially if you have the connections that are going to allow you not to worry about having $130 a week in las vegas for your rent.

The question you really need to ask yourself is not is it possible to succeed with a 2.7K bankroll. You need to look deep into your soul and ask yourself what will happen if the worst scenario unfolds. Will you have a life to return to? A job? Can your mind really withstand the loss of your entire bankroll? Vegas is no place to find yourself with no money and no plan. Give it a lot of thought.

This is all really good feedback. I've been sports betting offshore for since 1994. I've been playing Holdem since 1996. I don't buy lottery tickets or play Bingo. I have played table games like Black Jack & Roulette & Craps but I have learned to stay away from these games. I enjoy horse racing but have come to realize that I don't really have an edge playing them. The point of traveling to Vegas is for the diversity. I know I can play at pinnacle but, there are over 40 sportsbooks on the strip with different variations of bets & props. There are as many poker rooms with jackpots & freerolls. If onr poker room doesn't treat me well one day I can walk next door & try another. If you're gonna make a run you're right, I can do it from home here in Canada but, Vegas seems like it will present a lot more opportunity for me.
It is the gambling capitol of the world!
I realize that it sounds stupid & that the odds are stacked against me with such a small stake but, I am not rich & even if I were, I wouldn't want to invest a ton of money to succeed when a minimal stake could possibly produce the same results.
If I don't succeed, I would have a job & family & friends to come back to. (Sort of besides the point, IMHO)
If I do decide to do this I will post some updates here.

In my humble opinion, you should reread The Crow"s post and take it to heart. It is apparent that you have never tasted the most bitter of defeats, leaving you alone and broke. You are naive and have no idea what trouble you are courting. If you have been playing offshore for 19 years and have only amassed a bankroll of 2.7K, what makes you think you will do better in this town that eats people for a living?

Lol if you gamble for many years you realise even the best has great long streaks and bad long streaks. If you happen to go there and have a bad streak or even average you won't last any time at all. It's called variance.Thats why you need a suitable buffer you said you can't go to the money tree to get $15,000 , that is no where near enough its nothing. Try at least 10x that minimum

Say you're betting $100 per day. Say you're betting sports & playing Black Jack. When you mention variance, at BJ for every $100 you wager the house on average should end up with $1 & change. Based on variance. In the sportsbook (at -110) they'll end up with a buck. Based on variance. Say you're betting $10,000 per day, doesn't variance dictate that you will be losing, in the end, on average, $100-$150 per day? Am I being naive or am I not really understand what variance is?

Accounting for variance means that you need to plan how you are going to survive 10 losing BJ hands (or sports bets) in a row. It happens to everybody.

OP, I've tried to live in Vegas and gamble and play poker for a living twice. The first time, I had about 20K and lasted 4 months, the second time I had exactly the same amount as you, and lasted a year and a half. But the 4 months I stayed were the best in my life and the second was possibly the most miserable experience I could imagine.
If you only have 2700, you should at least have a car because you won't be able to afford cabs and the distance to the next casino is over a mile, so good luck arbing.

That being said...I know of a couple of people who started with 8K and martingaled their way to a livable 50K roll. With 2700 you should go full Kelly and bet exactly half your roll on your best bet, with the other get a room and a bus ticket out of there just in case
