The reason the reviews on the shuttle are mixed is the shuttle is mixed. Some days you will get on and be the first guy off and the whole ride is like 10 minutes.
Some days you will be the first guy on and the last guy off and it is 90 minutes. It should not take you any more than this but 45-60 minutes even to Rio is possible.
If I am on the cheap, I will try to talk someone into splitting a cab. Easier going to the airport than coming from it but just ask people. They will do it if they are close.  Just talk em up nice and ask where they are staying. I would walk from Rio or Palms to save the dough.

Now you know where those folks with suitcases are going!

We go to GC when we are looking to get drunk and just goof off, 5 dollar tables are so rare now in Vegas. It is smoky though fer sure.

Thats a good idea about the whole splitting a cab idea...I never really thought about that. But I wonder my chances of finding 1-2 ppl that are staying at the Rio....also, the shuttle idea isn't terrible but it seems like a situation I will have to feel out when I get there. Thanks for the input 

The GC has 5 dollar tables eh? That is good news...I will be looking to kill some time and probably play 5 dollar BJ if that is the case

That's cool..Let us know the event you are playing in? Initials AD is prob enough to see your progress online.

And be leery of the asian women dealers at the GC,ruthless..$5 game sounds great,but I will never play BJ there ever again..I like the GC for VP and the book and a $1.50 hotdog in the afternoon is pretty cool.

I am playing in Event #54 which starts on July 1st. I am flying in on the 30th...I get to Vegas before noon (Vegas time) so I am going to try and get in a little practice tourney that evening. Yes, my initials are AD (Adam is my 1st name) so you guys will probably be able to figure it out from there if I actually do make it deep in the tourney. Hahahahaha @ the 5$ Gold Coast dealers...I have had bad experiences with them in the past (why are they always so mean?!?!?) ..........again, thanks for the well wishes/support. You should still plan a trip out there man! I will be there from June 30- July 4 (no person  of course)

Hey jamesxnj, do they have $5 Pai Gow tables at the Gold Coast? I didn't get a chance to play the last time I was in Vegas. Never played, but really want to. I hear its a good game to play when trying to relax

Pretty sure there are $5 Pai Gow tables there..  Have a great trip!

the gold coast dealers are actually very nice, I broke in at the gold coast dealing cards in 2004, the problem is not the dealers are mean.

Its the scumbag floormen and pitbosses, If you dare smile or appear that you are enjoying your job and giving great customer service, they have that talk with you about how all these customers are parasites and soon you will learn to hate these fucking people.

$5 Pai Gow is the absolute bomb.
$100 should last about three days.
If you do not know how to play a hand, show the dealer and have him play the dealer way for you.
Ultimate game to get schnockered at on the cheap in Vegas, if you can still find if for $5.

Just got home last night. Needless to say I didn't do very well. I made it to level 4 on day 1. My stack was crippled by one particular hand...I had AK suited (clubs). I raise 3 times the big blind...flop comes A K 5 (2 spades)...I bet half my stack villain calls. Turn comes and I check, (7 spades I think). Check again....(terrible play by me). River comes and it's the 10 of spades I think. Then guy goes all in and I obviously have to fold. Played it poorly but I lost like 60-70 percent of my stack. I eventually was eliminated when my pocket 2's were beaten by pocket 10's.

It was a lot of fun and quite a surreal poker experience. Went on a heater at the Orleans but gave it back in a cash game at the Rio. Also, got 2nd in a 30 dollar buy in tourney at Bill's....then got 10th out of 47 at the Rio 70 dollar tourney (missed cashing by 4 spots grrrrrr). But it was a fun trip and awesome experience  Oh and Barry Greenstein was at the table right next to me...he was still in when I was got knocked out. Also, I made my way to the Amazon Room to check out the feature table for the 1 million dollar one drop tourney...pretty sweet set up that was! It was eerily quiet in there.

Turns out I was seated next to a guy that ended up getting 14th. Pretty cool...he was a young Asian kid about my age (24), really nice guy and solid player. He was a software engineer from San Francisco but was originally from Toronto. Pretty cool dude.

 My father is a big fan of Gold Coast because of the low table limits. He can play blackjack for ten hours and just kill a day doing that.

I played Pai Gow for a few hours one night....great time killing game. 

I actually took a shuttle for 9 bucks. I had time to kill so didn't mind waiting (it wasn't a terrible trip) took about 40 minutes to get to my hotel...as for my bag, I kept it in my lap. Didn't like that idea of leaving my bag in the back unsupervised 

The Gold Coast wasn't too shabby. I actually thought the room was great for the cost and the bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was very modern and clean. Wasn't thrilled with the dining options though...definitely caters more to the Asian community (which isn't a bad thing). But didn't really like the smell on the casino floor and the sports book was fairly standard with few tv's. But all in all a solid experience. I played a lot of poker at the Orleans (I liked the room and play was pretty soft). I played a lot at the Rio but that room was way too cramped IMO. Walked over to the Palms for some NL action at 8am on Sunday morning....they only had 1 table running and it was all 80 year old men playing 2-4 LIMIT  . The dealer told me they NL action usually doesn't get rolling until noonish. Ended up losing money for the trip but it was a fun experience.

Also, being by yourself in Vegas is pretty cool...not having anyone waiting on you or vice versa. Could do whatever I wanted when I wanted...got a little lonely at times but while on the tables there were more than enough people to talk to.

Lmao one day at the Orleans the poker manager made me take off my Covers hoodie?!?!? Uhhhhh I was like, "so I can wear my covers hat though?" They said "yes" made no sense. But that only happened once.

Funny about the Orleans..Guess they thought you were a wannabe hoodlum or something..
