      *One of those wins closed at -300 and won by just one run!

After a bad outing to begin MAY, which the NYY lost,

Rodon went on a hot streak of 7 consecutive games WITHOUT a bad outing and the NYY won all 7.

Then he began a streak of 5 consecutive BAD outings....and NYY lost all 5

Interesting stats...

BRADY SINGER, Royals, has started 18 games...

14 of those were only 2 runs allowed or less (most were just 1 ER!)

On the road, 6 of his 8 games were 2 ER or less

Meanwhile, BRYAN BELLO (BoSox) has pitched poorly (BAD outings) in 5 of his last 7 starts since the beginning of June.  BoSox lost 4 of those 5 but escaped his most recent BAD outing by scoring 12 runs in support.

In his 19 starts, JAKE IRVIN (Nats)

has allowed more than 3 earned runs only 5 times

Nats lost all those 5.

Cubbies are an enigma...

Jameson Taillon (Cubbies) has started 15 games and only allowed more than 3 earned runs ONCE!
10 of his his 15 starts were just 2 ER or less!!!!

And yet, Cubbies are just 8 - 7 in his starts!

Oddly, the one game he allowed more than 3 ER (actually 5 that day) THEY WON!

Cubs are just 2 - 5 in his 7 ROAD starts, despite Taillon only pitching poorly in 2!

Currently, Taillon is on a run of 6 consecutive without a BAD outing.......although the confounding Cubbies are split 3 - 3 in those starts

In his return to the mound, the ageless vet MAX SCHERZER (Texas) has not had a bad outing in his 4 starts.........however, poor run support in 2 of those were costly.

In his first 6 starts this season BLAKE SNELL (Giants) pitched awful....6 consecutive BAD outings ....but his last game (Toronto) was GOOD pitching!...finally......zero ER and a lucky win in the bottom of the 9th.

But is this the turn around SNELL and Giants are hoping for?

Or was it a one-off by an otherwise WEAK starter?

Sunday, JULY 14: There are NO starter HOT STREAKS today

Lefty CHRIS SALE (Braves) had a 7 game consecutive streak without a BAD outing snapped, but has since gone 6 straight without a BAD outing....

But it can happen at any time....happens to every starter several times a season.

Statistically, the number of times a starter continues a HOT STREAK really falls off sharply after 7 straight....

Although, even a bad outing does not mean a loss for the team *IF* they give him enough run support to compensate.
