DO YOU SEE THE BOLD LETTERS IN YOUR REMARK MR( NO WOMEN TO DO MY LAUNDRY) THIS COMMENT MUST NEVER BE MADE.
So Key from KC did this great 5 out pitcher ever win a F-5 bet,I think someone is way carried away here,he blames the weather for his lack of being able to eat fish.

So just came home from Costco and I got gas for first time in 6 weeks,2:79 a gallon, did not see you had the expensive stuff Key when you filled up,that one was still a bit over 3 bucks,so Arizona is still way lower,
Hey Key how many months is your weather in the 120s or even over 110,my Wife is losing her mind and has my Daughters talking about us moving to east coast, the big incentive is all I have to do is put up the down payment and they make the payments,I have lived on that coast and it seems worst now than it was, look at POOR SAC,not even able to catch Dinner. So I might have to add Nev.or Ari.into this conversation or work another 10 years until I am your age than I won't care.

Well, we will have 100+ temps at least part of 5 months a year, May through September roughly. General rule of thumb is don't go outside from June 30 to September 1. July and August indoors breaks it up a little. As for the East Coast, you can tell your family anywhere east of the Allegheny Mountains is the armpit of America. Sac is not anywhere close to the East Coast and he is bad enough off in Crappyville. Combination of heat, humidity and old tenement buildings has them dropping like flies in the summer. Tell the wife and girls to go without you, they will be back by October. If I were to seek out a steady year round comfortable temp and no congestion, beautiful country, blah, blah, blah, I would investigate Santa Fe, NM or Pocatello, ID. If you move to the East Coast I will disown you and take you out of my will. Losing that ten bucks I was going to leave you would wreck your retirement.

BTW: The only way you catch up the ten years between us is I die now and you live another ten years. I don't think I like your attitude. Just sayin.............

I hope all the people whining about stay at home orders see and appreciate what REAL problems are. My brother-in-law, R.I.P., used to quote an old adage. "I felt sorry for myself because I had no shoes, then I met a man that no feet".
and prayers for a manageable life.

10 teams / three divisions sounds a little weird, but whatever can be efficiently and safely be conducted is OK with me. Better than nothing and that is what we have now. The AL/NL mix may also be interesting. I can understand the players objection to seasons in Arizona, Florida and Texas only; being away from family for four months does seem unreasonable. Like the old boy (Morgan Freeman) said in Field of Dreams, "Wars, depressions, hard times, the people have always had baseball". Whatever we can manage for the morale of the people is probably a good idea.

I think the mix of designated hitters back n forth will be good too. NL managers can fiddle around with their lineups.
I'd like to see the playoff format. Could a team with a better record get screwed because they are in a tougher division? How do you pull the wildcard teams if there are only 3 divisions.
Whatever they do, I'll be happy that there's baseball.

Since the whole season is going to be somewhat of a wash anyway I would like to see hem have a 16 team double elimination seeded tournament with no teams playing back-to-back days. Shorter rotation on the top starters and more bullpen rest. If not playing on back-to-back days every team could rely on three starters and a rested pen. Real balls to the wall, ask no quarter, give no quarter, take no prisoners, baseball.

Given the circumstances, whatever baseball will be played, I highly doubt we will see any fans at the games, thus whatever decision MLB will take it will have to be in accord with the broadcasting stations, they will have a lot to say in this, because again, I don't see how you play any game with attendance, without the risk of having major outbreaks. The TV rights will be the only way teams make money this season, imo...

So, if they do not play at all, then what is their income? TV and its advertising revenue have supported all sports for many years now. If they lose 40 or 50% of their revenue by having no live fans is that better than losing 100% by cancelling the season? Business analysts will tell you most major professional sports can survive without anyone in the stands. If the players agree to a salary decrease and cities and counties give a rent reduction it may all become a break-even probability and the playing of games at all, a public service. People are going nuts at home, with no live sports on TV and are already taking undue, unfair advantage of liberties, like open beaches. Soon the relaxing of restrictions is going to be all the more abused. Buy every man in America a six pack and give him live baseball and he may just stay home. The public relations value is impossible to compute, but there will be hosannas and thank yous all over the place. Many things have become a matter of getting by 2020 without a profit and baseball owners are aware of it. Contrary to popular belief everything in America is not dependent on profit in any given year, as long as it is there over the long haul, and a good public relations profile in 2020 will pay rewards in 2021 and far beyond. The thing that pizzzed of baseball fans more than any other was the lockouts (not strikes) of the 1970's. It took years to overcome the harm and both players and owners are committed to repeating public relations errors. It is all feasible and workable, don't be surprised if it happens.

To add to your post key, plenty of offshore books, bookies, and casinos are waiting with open arms for fools money. People will bet on live sports and that $ will circulate.

Key, obviously I'm not as knowledgeable, when it comes to baseball history, as you are, my point is that in whatever form they will play, MLB has to come to an agreement with the broadcasters also. Besides that, I forgot about the MLBPA, they will also have to sign off on whatever final decision they will agree to, and I guess the players will comply with whatever cuts will be asked of them. As for the losses caused by the lack of tickets, presumably those number have to be public records, thus can be found somewhere on the internet (I'm extrapolating here, fe in Europe football teams post their financial records on their websites after each season, I know this for sure as FC Barcelona fan), in order to see how much any teams stands to lose as a % from their total income.
The problem is there is no precedent for this?! If I'm not mistaken, this is neither a lockout, nor a strike, so they will have to come up with a strategy that everyone agrees on. Imo keeping the teams isolated, from their families and the outside world, and closely monitoring them, seems like the safest thing they could do, because if one player in a team tests positive, I don't see how they could keep playing.
When they will come up with the plan, I think that the ~2 weeks of warm-up games, spring training, whatever you want to call them, will serve as dry run and as a test drive for the regular season, that will be left to play. The bottom line is, IF they can't keep the players healthy from the virus, they wont play any games for sure, regardless of the financial losses...

yaongingy, Most of what you say I agree with. Player & personnel safety is the number one issue. We have to remember that aside from player, manager and coaches there is quite an entourage that travels with the teams and those will have to be cut to a minimum, and safeguarded in the same ways. The logistics may be a nightmare, but the teams have plenty of home office and league personnel to work that out. I think they can handle it. The whole discussion may become moot, however; if the trial runs coming next week in many states prove not to be effective. A preventative vaccine and cure for the already infected is what we must focus on, otherwise we will see another severe outbreak at some point and a whole lot of politicians that were so eager to get the economy back on track will be able to kiss their careers goodbye. If every cloud has a silver lining that may be a good result of the pandemic.

Returning to baseball, or at least a fantasy experience of it, which is totally rigged and completely off the wall, may I remind you guys that I have, so far, been correct in the Dream Bracket thing or whatever else they want to call it? Yep, 4-0 for the finalists. I have three picks remaining. Yankees over Red Sox, Dodgers over Reds, and Yankees over Dodgers. I will, magnanimously, offer to wager an even up bet for a twelve pack that I go 3-0. Guys are always willing to blow wind in this forum about their great parlays, and here I am willing to take even money on a 3 teamer. Either I know something or am being extremely foolish. Any takers?

The greatest travesty of the lock-down may be that MLB thinks we want to hero worship the same half dozen players over, and over, and over, and over, ad nauseum. All sports have sold out to this attitude, which gives you a pretty good idea either what they think of sports fans intelligence, or what it has actually become.
Big D, I would bet you are just holding your breath waiting for the first post that says "the Yankees are LOADED this year"

I have not and will not watch any simulations, or video game tournaments. I think it's awful and just plain weird.
Even espn broadcasters are starting to cover the fantasy land sports, I just can't dig it. It actually upsets me a little.
