"The Yankees are loaded" is Key's bat signal
The non-tender deadline is today, we already had some deals made yesterday, so today is gonna be a busy day...

I ran down the info. Sanchez is out. He couldn't catch the stripper's G-string at the club where the Yankees were getting "loaded".

Now that is something any IRONman should catch, under any conditions!
Sanchez is a flake. I suppose he will be practicing the euro step with his new hitting coach soon

The Mets sign right hander Trevor May to their bullpen. Stacking righties...they currently have only one southpaw in their pen.
You'd think they are going to need some balance.
Gotta look at how the NL East hit righties.

Getting into the statistcal-analytical aspects sac, did you know only 10 to 12% of the world is left-handed? I have thought for a long time that if you dig too deep into the lefty pool you are probably pulling up some lesser talented guys (just because they are left-handed). In the top twenty of either league lefties hold their own very well, but as you slide down the achievement scale thy drop off much faster than righties. SOMETIMES, and it may seem IRONic, I really get into this analytical boolsheet.

Welp, it seems Sanchez challenged the play and upon review, he not only caught the g-string but also a contract with the Yankees Yankees agreed to terms with Cessa and Heller, not with Holder.
Some surprises regarding non-tendered guys: Kyle Schwarber, Adam Duvall, Eddie Rosario, David Dahl, Archie Bradley...

Based on my world famous in-depth-frozen-azz-December-statistical-analysis-and-crystal-ball-wild-azz guess computations the Yankees are dealing from a position of second best offense in MLB based on combined 19/20 offensive production.
Long story short: Why is anyone concerned about the Yankees offense and why bother to discuss it? It is there every year and does not deliver championships, not even A.L., much less W.S. It will be there again in 2021, results yet to be determined. Do Yankee fans really care? IDK, but as long as there are plenty of stars and home runs they keep buying tickets, souvenirs and memorabilia, which is what Yankee management actually cares about. If they win a championship and revenue goes down, because fans were bored with great pitching, that will have them pulling their hair out, grinding their teeth, and rending their garments. The Yankees championship quest ended when George died; now it is all about revenue and franchise value, TV income being the most desirable asset.
Now, get this straight. I am not a Yankee hater. They were my boyhood idles and Mickey Mantle was the greatest miracle since the Resurrection of Christ, as far as I was concerned. What I do hate is the "modern" version of home-run-hero-worship that is so typical of today's Yankee fan. Guys like Mantle, Berra and Ford retired with 9 or 10 World Series rings. Today's stars have 0, and most of these guys, if not all, will retire with 0.

2018 Jack Flaherty
2019 Lucas Giolito
2020 Zac Gallen
Anyone looking at anyone with surprise potential?

Ian Anderson? Young team on the rise with young guys giving it their best for other young guys. Sounds like a match made in Heaven.
Just sayin'

Sneaky good pitcher right there. Any chance of seeing + odds with him? The Braves are pretty good so the bargain may be short lived with him.
Vs a Degrom, Strasburg, Scherzer though...

I had secret underground meetings with Key last year, discussing Zac Gallen. Log Cottage didn't even know about the unscheduled and unapproved rendezvous.
I figured there's about 4 maybe 5 people looking at this thread, and who is gonna read through it anyway.
I've been looking at Gallen for a couple years now. The Marlins are notorious for giving up great talent and have been since forever. I think they let another gem go in Gallen.
If this guy can continue to repeat his delivery, he will be damn hard to hit for years to come. It may not look it at a glance, but the guy hides the ball better than anyone.
Books started to recognize his talent towards the later part of the year. Even though he was pitching for an awful D'backs team, the odds told us what they thought of him.
Just my 2 cents, as I take a crap on a glorious Friday.

Every situation has it's own risk/reward ratio. 2020 action was so limited and so lowly rated he may show some surprising value early. Worth keeping an eye on anyway.

Now sac, you knw as well as anyone books do not make and stand on odds. If a guy shows excess value it is because bettors have not recognized him, or do not share your opinion of him, and we have to back them on the way up, not after the whole world recognizes a guy with 20 wins and 2.28 era. Flaherty, Giolito and Gallen are no longer cheapies and if I. Anderson lives up to expectations he won't be cheap either, for very long. Might be best for us if he has some great success at 5 innings, but the Braves blow his games late, giving a false impression to his particular value. Nothing better than a guy that goes 15-5 in 5 inning results and his team is 5-15 in those games. Great starters coupled with bad bullpens always have good value on the opening 5 inning line because it is based on the full game line bettors have already adjusted. You could almost call the strategy backing-a-bad-bullpen, because they helped set your favorable odds, even though they will probably not be involved in the 5 inning outcome.

I suspected some covert activity between you and Key when your absences from the forum were simultaneous. But Zack Gallen discussions? Really? This is how naive I am: I thought the discussions were aimed at you two getting creative as far as selecting my Christmas gift for this year. This is very disappointing in a year filled with disappointments. This may be my last contribution to this thread....If I was a member of the younger generation, I would talk my primary physician into an RX for depression.

I expect all of you men to make sure to treat sac with the respect he deserves this month,as you should be aware 6 years ago this month he turned 21 and was allowed to join covers as a member after lurking on here as a teenager for years,I do not know why he is making the Gay Face on post 94 but I live in Califruitty as Key would say,so it's all good sac,Happy Anniversary to you sac.
I do have a baseball thought about last year pitching, did any pitcher make it to the 7th inning? If yes it could not be more than 2 times in that sorry season, the only thing that might put it over 2 times was I know my fav.Pitcher Kershaw had one in season and one in Playoffs in my Dodgers great Season on way to the World Series title.
Also my other fav.team would be stupid to get rid of the Pitcher that could of won them the title but My Rays Mgr.did blow all his calls,at the money Snell is making next couple of years he is way worth it,could dump him for 3rd as he is getting up there in money, but virus should be a bad memory by then hopefully along with the current POTUS How can I pardon all the Crooks without the Dumb American's thinking they broke Laws.
The only thing that would of saved baseball season last year,The YANKEES (always great)playing the DODGERS in WORLD SERIES,everyone knows the Yankees are always loaded with TALENT and should just be invited to Series, only reason they are not is Fake News saying they lost games they won, happens all the time to them. They really never lose.

When I read a post like that from JEG I am reminded of an old radio show that probably only LC and I are aware ever existed. It was called Amos and Andy, and they were two black guys that had a barber shop where all kinds of different types would congregate and sort of kick things around, like a round table discussion (LC and I can remember barber shops like that too). Anyway, one of the characters was called Kingfisher, and he had a nephew (by a widowed sister) that was about half goofy and was always always coming up with outlandish, goofy, ideas. The nephew would pop-in, spout his latest convoluted concept of a supposedly brilliant idea (always dumb, bordering on idiocy), then pop-out again. Afterwards there would be brief silence before Kingfisher moaned, "Some day, I got to have a long talk wit dat boy." That is sort of how I feel about JEG's posts, and the ideas and concepts he tosses out there,
"Some day, I got to have a long talk wit dat boy."

What I would give to be 27 again Jeg. When I was fuckin up anything and everything in my life. Put me in a time machine to fix it.
I feel bad for you though Jeg, when it comes to Callfruity. I heard some one on a podcast say, "the coldest winter I've ever experienced was San Francisco in July"
A single tear rolled down my cheek, as I was thinking of you.
