OK, Sparky, I know you've had a hard on all series long on picking on every little thing you can about the Phillies, so this thread does not surprise me - - yet, it does. Why?

Even if Pettitte got hurt in the 1st inning, NYY will feast on our pen and outscore us.

Third, and NO ONE in this thread mentions this because they don't bother to read everything out there on this story (or may not live in Philly), but in the same interview when Cole made these comments, BEFORE he made those comments, he was talking about how he hoped he had a chance to redeem himself in Game 7 if there is one.

He then then clarified today about what he said came out wrong - he did not mean he wanted the season to end now and go home, and if you think he just wanted to quit, you are delusional and just wrong.

Cole Hamels - is he soft ? Yes. Does he have a bit of a girly voice ? Yes. But this guy was the MVP on the NLCS and WS last year and was unhittable - - he has the ability clearly. Mentally, he's been soft this year. I'll give you that. However, after watching this guy pitch so many times and not develop that curve ball better, hitters are teeing of on him because they KNOW when the changeup is coming and when the fast ball is coming, and he is grooving these over the fat part of the plate. He is tipping his pitches, and when your curve ball blows right now, these are the results you get.

He may be all these things, and he has been whiny this post-season, but he is a young kid at 24. He will learn. He is not a quitter - - he's a major league pitcher with some damn good credentials who is frustrating with having a lousy season and post-season.

The run-in with Myers was Myers saying that to him in a joking context. Does not always come though when reading the quotes in print. Even if Myers said that in a serious way, so what ? Not the first time two teammates have fought.

Anyway, none of this matters because the Yankees wrap this up in 6. Pettitte on 3 days rest may backfire, BUT the Yankees are hitting, even without Texeira or Cano, enough to light up the Phillies terrible pen. Johnny Damon is always getting a big hit and just murdering the Phillies and he will keep doing it.

Maybe Hamels couldn't wait until the series is over, so he didn't have to watch Cabrera do that stupid @#$@# little hand gesture to his bench. What is he.... in Little League?

Also, on the .000000000001% chance there is a game 7, what better way to fire up Cole Hamels and get him going for one game to tell him to his face that he is a quitter ?

Let me trying and break it down...

I'm just giving back to the forum what Yankee Fans have recieved after Game 1. And that's hell for the Yankee Haters.

Like I said in the other thread...I was joking about the whole "Phillies don't have heart" thing. But Hamels doesn't have heart. How on earth could someone who says they can't wait for the season to be over while playing in the WORLD SERIES have heart?

Just covering my tracks as it seems that every thread I look into people are looking forward to game 7. But like everyone else...I said "if there is one". And like you said...I don't think there will be one.

Up until now, I never heard Hamels mention that he wanted to redeem himself. I haven't read anything or heard anything on tv about him saying that so I'm going by what I heard.

What I heard is he wanted this season to end and start next season already. I go by what I hear, and what I hear is what the title thread says.

Now I don't understand why people bring up LAST season. This season is what really matters and he has done nothing this postseason. As far as tipping his pitches...that's something they better catch or his confidence will be killed even worse.

I'm not saying he doesn't have a good good potential, but he is simply NOT GOOD this postseason and that's where my focus is right now. I could care less if he wins 5 CY Youngs in a row starting next season...it's all about here and now.

Hamels came back at him as I've heard he said "expletive" so I assume it was "Fuck You". But once again...I'm going by what I heard and that's all I have.

Do you think Utley gets the MVP in a losing effort? I think he certainly deserves it. If Mo gets a 2 inning save in Game 6...I say he deserves it.
