Hey guys...long time to chat. Hope all is well. Hate that I disappeared. Unfortunately my season was ended as soon as it began by a cancer diagnosis.
I'm currently resting and waiting on radiation and chemo therapies. I've had surgery to remove the cancerous tissue. The surgeon removed over 3/4 of my tongue and some mouth tissue, as well as the lymph nodes in me neck. The pathology report on the nodes came back positive (as expected). There is now concern it may may have spread on through my lymphatic system. Next Thursday is a HUGE day for me. I will be undergoing a full body pet scan to determine any residual cancer in the surgical area and to determine is it has indeed spread to other parts of my body. Needless to say, I need a clean scan.
Because of the tongue loss (replaced with a flap of tissue sans muscle from my thigh) I am unable to eat, drink or talk. I am currently living with a feeding tube and a trach. The trach will go soon as I am regaining my ability to breath clearly as the swelling in my mouth subsides. Unfortunately my ability to swallow (eat or drink) and talk may never recover. I'm hoping with extensive therapy I will one day be able to do these on some level.
So anyways....yeah....that's kinda my story. Not here looking for sympathy. Just get quite bored and the thought crossed my mind to visit.. Hope everyone is enjoying a profitable baseball season!!

Speaking of horses. Going to Keeneland tomorrow to watch one try and break his maiden first time out. More than a rooting interest in this one. I know the owner(s) very well. Just hoping he performs admirably and continues to improve.
Our boy Muddbone Road is off to a decent start. He finished 2nd in his first career start at Keenland. Then came back and broke hie maiden covering the mile over dirt in a very nice 1:36:21 at Churchill Downs. Not so good last outing ay Churchill...stepped up in class on a very sloppy track and was handled. No excuses, but got bumped around out of the gate and pinched back. He also didn't take to the slop at all. Jockey Jimmy Graham basically said he couldn't get him to go once the mud was flying in face and up his nose. Lesson learned....no more off tracks on dirt. Next time we scratch.
Not sure what is next, but I'm loving every secnd of it. There are basically a few things in my life right now...Friends and family, Muddbone, Kentucky football and cancer.
