The Padres acquire Casey Kelly, Anthony Rizzo and Reymond Fuentes.

It's known that this was going to be a good trade for the past 3 years. But since they lost VMart...I think it's a bit less sweet because all it is is a bigger hitter replacing a big hitter instead of ADDING a bigger hitter and extending the lineup. With this addition...you take away 2 of your better hitters from 2010 (Beltre and VMart) to add in one of the best...but clearly he won't equal both of their production.

I think the fact that they're relying on Salty to take over the catcher role will hurt them offensively. Clearly anytime you add a player of AGon's stature is a plus to your team...but I, personally, would rather have Beltre/VMart minus AGon instead of vice virsa.

We know the Sox will extend AGon...so this kinda makes a signing of Crawford or Werth beyond important. And now that the Sox got AGon...the Yanks may make signing one or the other a LOT more difficult.

Get outta here and let the Sox fans be happy on landing a good player. God forbid its not the Yankees. Only a Yankee fan would be nit picking at adding one of the best in baseball. A little info as well. Sox dont over pay/extend old players for 5 years a time. Detroit have fun with Victor Martinez until he is 38 who already has tremendous wear and tear and cant catch for shit. 

So the fact that you lose offensive production overall (if you don't sign Crawford or Werth) doesn't bother you?

And I think Mr. Ortiz is certainly overpaid and extended. And Dice-K is a bit overpaid too. How much to TALK with him?

One thing i have to say. A Yankee fan CAN NEVER EVER EVER make a remark on money it cost to talk to a guy. Dice-K was the biggest thing to come out of that country and helped win a world series. The last 2 years have not been great but the 1st 2 he was 33-15. Ill take it. Let me get back to why a Yankee fan can never remark on negotiating with a foreign player. Im pretty sure the Yankees payed big bucks to talk with this guy named Kai Igawa....Maybe not though i could just be an idiot. He was a fantastic pitcher.

Also Vmart is nothing special. He is a great offensive catcher but his defense is lacking. He is league average if you put him at first. He is going to be good for his first couple years of his contract but wont be worth it in the last couple years.

AGon is an upgrade over losing Vmart and not potentially Beltre. I dont not expect Beltre to equal his career year he had last year again in his career. However, his defense will always be, possibly, the best in the league at 3rd.

Sox will get one of Werth or Crawford and the Yankees wont be able to sign either of those players without trading Swisher and not signing Lee. Its either they get Lee or they get one of Crawford/Werth. Its not gonna be both since they are signing Jeter and already signed Mariano.

Yes...just like the Yankees and Matsui. I'm talking about playing at the level of their salary. Dice-K isn't playing to the level of $8+ million.

Youkilis has to adjust to playing 3rd (I know he's played there before and even offered to play there again but is a better defensive 1st baseman than 3rd). Also...unless the Sox sign Werth or Crawford...they don't make out on this deal in the first year. Beltre may not equal what he did last season...but he fits well in that ballpark. If he ends up going to Oakland...he'll be a shell of what he was in 2010.

I don't know why people are acting as if I'm laughing at the fact that this is a horrible move. I never did that. He's an incredible bat who will be even better playing at Fenway. His defense is icing on the cake. He's young and will be around for a long time. But trading for AGon has it's repercussions. The Yankees always feel that they have to "1 up" the Red Sox. Red Sox get A-Rod...Yankees get Crawford or Werth? They always do this kind of stuff...everyone knows it. They'll, at the very least, will make the Sox pay a fortune for either one. Why would the Yankees simply allow the Red Sox to get 2 of the best hitters in the game and not "1 up" them?

And how can you say the Yankees can't get both? Of course they can if they really wanted to. They'd trade Swisher or Gardner to have an open spot for either Werth or Crawford and overpay/over extend Lee. It's "The Yankee Way"...you should know as well as anyone.

You said that the Sox don't overpay/extend players. I was giving situations where they did. I never denied the Yanks of doing that...but regardless...they still have the better team even with doing what they do.

What has Igawa done for the Yankees? Nothing.

Has Igawa stopped the Yankees in any way? Nope.

And I'd like to lay money that Martinez and Beltre will combined for more RBIs, hits, walks, runs scored and doubles.
