Stupid comment. Obviously its 2 against 1. But i will be you money Gonzalez and their other filler will out produce those 2. Even JD drew and Gonzo will out hit them. Dice K was fantastic his first 2 years and did deserve what he was getting payed. However the last 2 have not been good and he has been often injured. What are you going to do. He won a World series his 1st year and went 18-2 in his 2nd. That alone is worth every penny.

The combination of AGon along with Salty is a wash when compared with Vmart/Beltre. The Sox are not losing anything. Youk moves to 3rd and will be fine. Salty/Varitek combo will more than likely produce league average production while providing better defense than what Vmart provided.

You're putting a lot of stock into Salty.

If the Yankees sign Werth/Crawford and Lee their payroll with push $230mm+

Not gonna happen buddy. Its one or the other. Not both. The Yankees can afford a $400mm payroll but they dont want to pay the luxury tax and spit in the face of the MLB by doing so. That would force the MLB to have hte Yankees make their cash flows and financial documents available and the Yankees do not want to do that.

You are underestimating how good AGon is when compared to Vmart. You are also looking at Beltre from his last season while ignoring every other year of his career. In his 2 contract years he has put up career years. I dont think that is coincidental. His defense will carry whatever type of contract he receives but his offense will take a hit no matter where he ends up going.

And you know what...you may be right. But it's a different scenario. Of course AGon and JD Drew would out produce them if you have Beltre in Oakland. But Beltre/Vmart in Boston would outproduce AGon/Drew in Boston. We'll work out a wager. Lets see where Beltre lands and we'll work something out. I don't do matchbook but I know I can do paypal with you.

its actually a big hitter with whats going to be a huge contract for two really good hitters cus now v mart and beltre are both gone. so they better hope for a big year from ellsbury or they are right back to step 1 with probably less payroll

It's known that this was going to be a good trade for the past 3 years. But since they lost VMart...I think it's a bit less sweet because all it is is a bigger hitter replacing a big hitter instead of ADDING a bigger hitter and extending the lineup. With this addition...you take away 2 of your better hitters from 2010 (Beltre and VMart) to add in one of the best...but clearly he won't equal both of their production.

I think the fact that they're relying on Salty to take over the catcher role will hurt them offensively. Clearly anytime you add a player of AGon's stature is a plus to your team...but I, personally, would rather have Beltre/VMart minus AGon instead of vice virsa.

That's all I'm saying. If they get Werth or Crawford...then all I wrote is meaningless. Take every other factor away and this is an incredible trade because AGon is an outstanding player and there is absolutely no fault with this trade. But add a factor or 2 back in and it's not a no fault trade...that's all I'm saying.

One thing I will tell you though...with all this stock the Sox put into Kelly...if he lives up to half of that...he'll be a STUD in the National League at PETCO.

Even if they do not get another bat, due to injuries to every positional player not named Drew or Papi, next years team should have a much more productive season then last... simply because the Red Sox had to trot out AAA(A) talent a lot all season.

While I hope the Sox do go out and get Werth for Left Field, outside of bullpen help, I like the 2011 team as constructed (with AGon of course.)

After a little scare...it is, indeed, a done deal.

Here's the problem though...the Angels haven't got that big free agent signing yet and Werth is already signed. Crawford is the only real playmaker out there...it's kinda boiling down to what I was talking about...just saying.

As a Sox fan i would rather not have Crawford for $20 mil a year for the next 8 years. It will be great for the first 2 or 3 years  but once those legs wear on Crawford he is useless if you ask me. Contract could be a major anchor down the road.

Someone did bring up a good point though. Once his speed declined...he'll hit for more power. He can hit homers...but he's like Ichiro and rather just find a way to get on base to help his team.

Ya possibly right. You never really know until someone acutally does it. Shit i have been waiting for BJ Upton to hit his 30 home runs for the past 3 years.
