Of course this is speculation but I think one of the people who had a "number" will take over for Jacob in the end.
Just as I think we will find out Jacob took over for someone else.
Maybe now that the man in black is "Locke" it would only be natural that Jack will take over the role as Jacob and they can fight it out for the next 1000 years or so....
But overall I liked the ep...it's interesting to see how the characters would have ended up if there was no island, alot of people are focused on the fact the 815 never crashed...but you have to remember that not only did it not crash but the island had long since been destroyed somehow.
Seeing Ben as a school teacher cracked me up...
And who else had a good laugh when Lapidus said "This is the weirdest damn funeral I've ever been to."? I did.
Yes, Hugo did own Locke's box company in the original timeline; we learned this in a throwaway line of dialogue all the way back in "Numbers" Hurley's very first flashback episode. But now instead of fearing everything he owns he seems powerfull and happy.
Locke and Helen are still together, and apparently Locke's dad isn't a conniving con-man -- he's invited to the wedding, according to Helen. But how is Locke still in a wheel chair if he has a good relationship with his Dad??

I thought the same thing when Peg asked him in the tub why didn't they invite her parents and his dad to do a quickie wedding. He didn't seem to flinch or make a face at the notion. I would say it was a slip up on the part of the writers, but they are almost always on the ball with stuff. Good question though.

I couldn't agree more. I don't think anyone takes Lost seriously. I think everyone here takes it as it is and that's entertainment. But it's fun to try to figure out how it is going to end. And yes to take one episode or part of episodes out of context would look crazy, as would most shows. I guess the only thing I can say is it's entertainment, just like transforming cars into robots. I think your comment about Lost, would be more accurate to say about these fools who watch reality tv and think it's actually reality.

Rousseau's daughter's name was Alex if I recall.
Good thoughts on Locke, Matchup. Clearly his relationship with his dad is quite different, but he's in the chair just the same.
It took me a while to realize that "Aldo," who showed up in the jungle during the "What Kate Does" episode, is "Mac" from "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia." Man, talk about alternate worlds colliding.
