regardless of the cavs chances now or at any point in the past,wat wud be the point in ripping up a potential winner??...like i said earlier,wud anyone rip up a lottery ticket they just bought??...and obviously your chances of hitting that are far,far slimmer than that of a sports team doing sumthing remarkable(or not so remarkable even)....the main premise being that almost anything is possible in sports,regardless of our own appraisal(or the books for that matter)of the odds/chances.

And I IMPLORE anyone who hedged out of their bet on the Cavs to post it here. If you did you hedged out down 2-1 when the Cavs were plus money and are down money at the moment. More rocky road to come.

But the reality is no one hedged out and they will let their ticket ride because low level bettors don't look for returns on investment (and likely don't even have the bankroll to cover hedges like this) and in the end they will get what I said at the start: $0.

Rangerz has said the entire thread that it's a great hedge. Well I've told him endlessly...just like bankroll discipline and the average bettor (on the whole it doesn't exist) these bettors will let their tickets ride and it the Cavs don't win it all, they get nothing...which means the bet is like any other...a loser.

Anyone who's watched the Cavs of late and is brimming with confidence they'll win it all is quite remarkable.

This ticket is 100% legit..... LOVED that cavs win over the bulls. I will hedge a bit next series and take wiz or hawks to win series for $1000-2000

Fist of freedom -

I made this bet when Lebron started to take his time "deciding" if he was going to resign with the Heat or not. ESPN showed a segment on First Take or something with moving trucks at his house before he had made a decision. I logged onto my account saw it was 30-1, bounced the idea off a few buddies and decided to fire. When I logged back on it was already down to 28-1 and it was then I knew it could be a good bet. 2 days later it was official he was going to cleveland, now here we are.

According to one of the bookmakers (Bob Scucci) at the Orleans the lowest liability currently going is the Cavs because they have been faves all year -- it is actually in vegas's interest for LeBron to win it all this year -- crazy?

okay,we'll just have to agree to disagree then....as ive maintained thru the thread and anytime when pressed to comment,i AGREE that the cavs,even at this stage,are not likely to win the final game of the season(tho the path is a damn site clearer now and they have shown faaaar more guts and resilience than i wud have given them credit for)....but to give a team zero chance of winning a title is totally folly,its basically the first thing you learn in sports(and you damn well learn it quick if youre betting)..like garnett crazily screamed.."ANYTHINGS POSSSIBBBBBBLLLLLEEEEE!!!!!"

but anyhow........so really this thread is not so much about the prospects of the cavs or the perceived value of the ticket....its just a commentary on how dumb the average bettor is,given that he wud choose not to hedge at any point in time??...cos im not sure why that notion needed to be suggested in the context of this particular futures scenario??.....and by the way it goes without saying that hedging is very real and profitable prospect rite about now....not sure that even the stupidest most deluded bettor alive wudnt seriously consider locking in profits at this point.

there couldn't have been that many people who made bets on Cavs when they were 30/1. its gotta be like less than 1% or 2% of all Cavs futures bettors. people only react after officially hearing the news and by that time it had already been greatly reduced to 8/1, 6/1 or something like that.

for that i can see the Cavs futures being low risk liability for the books since payout is so small. i would think Golden State is a little bit higher liability due to the great season they had. i bet OKC Thunder futures were popular, that probably would have hurt the books if they had won it all...

Sip on that plus money honey!
