Honestly it is a VERY rough spot for the Knicks.
The problem with backing the Knicks is twofold:
1) they shoot a ton of threes
2) they can't guard the three
Last night I expected them to guard the 3 with some degree of effectiveness in comparison to the previous 5 games. They did that with the Heat shooting 6-15.
The problem is, they shot a TON of threes and didn't hit any! They shot 4-23 (17%) from three.
You can't really predict that your team is gonna be COMPLETELY OFF from downtown especially on rest, especially in prime time, especially on the road where they excel against good teams compared to at home, especially against your main rival, especially when you are 5 games out of the 8th seed with 25 to go.
If they were just average shooting the three last night, they hit 5 more. That's 15 points. While that doesn't translate into a win, if it comes during certain scratches, the outcome is different.
You can't predict completely cold shooting nights. The Knicks had one here and that is compounded by the fact that even when their 3 defense is good, their interior D is not. So one overcomes the other and vice versa
Now they are on a B2B vs. The warriors who were crushed against the bulls in one of their worst losses of the season.
And as expected, the Knicks are getting 6. That line has to rise and overpower the square love affair with the Knicks. Squares like offense (see Denver/Seattle Super Bowl) and pay for it generously. They get it in bunches with GS.
Well they are playing without rest on a away/home trip against one that only shoots threes and those three point shooters are deadly marksman.
It is an awful spot for them. Just awful.
Shout out to the guy who teased the Heat to 4 instead of the Knicks to 16. Nicely done. He posted earlier in this thread.
