Once again I don't cry fix.... I can care less if it is... U just gotta get other the right side of it. But Edward Snowden leaked the NSA, Julian Asange leaked the U.S government. Basically it takes a whistleblower to finally see the truth.
This news just before the Tennis season begins , is a huge bombshell on the sport.

just looked at the full report. pretty amazing what they were doing , accounts making 100k + on specific sets at really bad odds . And they even had a 'dummy' account lose over 100k on a bet where they won about 240k to make it look not as suspicious. The worst part is , all of this info was made available to the people in charge and nothing was done at all. And most of these players involved in the rigging are still playing !! and competing in the next upcoming tournament ! Where do I sign up ?

Colin Cowherd just did 90 seconds on his show today about this topic
1) Everybody in the tennis betting industry has known about this for some time... it's just news to us
3) Tennis is largely an international sport - same as Olympics, FIFA, it is rife with corruption
4) Only the top 3 players (men and women) make big bucks, the rest are fighting for scraps.... the very top names are not suspected to be involved in taking these bribes
To the idiot that brings up one idiot ref that got caught in the NBA, and tries to draw a comparison to international sports rife with corruption, YOU don't get it.

i would just like to know how much it costs to get that information before a match.
Like garbage how you gonna prove i bribed the player to do it. I just had a gut feeling dude was due for a first set loss.
Anyways anyone who denies fixing exists doesnt understand human nature and greed, players are on the take sometimes when there is this much money involved, you just gotta hope its not on every game that you bet. Bad beats happen, games are gonna be fixed its all part of the hobby.

Top 50 ranked makes about $200,000/year or even more! That's as much as doctors in USA!
Well with that amount you have to pay your coach, physiotherapist, flight tickets, hotels...and suddenly 50K looks great to set the result of 1st set for example...

right. if you're a pro athlete and you're only pulling in 200k a year, you're probably considered middle class after taxes and paying for all the garbage you have to pay for.

Top 50 players also get endorsements that are at least equal to their expenses.

Believe me they get $100,000 AFTER all expenses, trave world, are on TV and do what they love. All that when they are 25! Again, if you still want more, get into business and stop playing tennis!

There are some really stupid people here on covers... yea I know - not a breaking story
If the sport of tennis, if you are not earning $1MM or more, you are on the take. NO you don't get big endorsements that pay cash, you get free tennis rackets and balls. Same goes for golf. Only the very top of the rankings (top 3-4 for men and women) actually earn the money needed to live the life, and NOT succumb to such payoffs. That is exactly what this story reveals. I know professional tennis players, and they agree.
Any comparison to major USA sports (MLB NFL NBA NHL) are ridiculous. The economics are totally different. No reasonable mind in major sports would accept a payoff of 50k or 250k to throw a game, and most would not guaranteed any result. The comparison is so ridiculous I cannot believe I have to explain it.
But there are a certain percentage here that like to perpetuate the conspiracy theories, while continuing to wager on the sports they claim to be rigged. Do you know the definition of insanity?
You see it in every covers forum, every night. Loser bettor loses a game, and the fix is in. You cannot fix stupid.
Yes Tennis is a rigged game. If you wager on tennis, you are a fool. Is is widely documented, and I cannot put it more plainly than that.

Some people shouldn't speak on things they know little about
If you're in the Top 200 you are making a nice living. Don't get why people focus on on ATP earnings when there is a lot more money elsewhere.
Guys play club matches all over Europe like in the Czech Republic and Germany and get paid 10k a match AND the clubs pay for their airfare. Tomas Berdych who is a Top 10 player was even doing this and easily getting 50K a match. My buddy who was ranked around 700 ATP played lower league German league and was getting 3k a match, played about 15 matches a year and easily supported himself traveling around Europe playing Futures.
And I hope some of you realize making "only" 200k goes a long way in certain countries like Serbia, Tunisia, Slovakia, etc.

That may be all "well and good" as they say... but you are totally ignoring one important fact - not all people think and act the way your friends say they do. And if your friends do not act that way, they would not admit it to you.
The sport is corrupt, just as any other international "individual" sport that is widely wagered. Keep wagering, I hope you pick the right side.
Many here will try to defend the indefensible.... and the reason is understandable. They love the sport, and they think they have an angle to preserve the sport as legit. That will not change the facts.
This story will only grow in the coming months and years.

I'm curious to know what your justification would be when you state this.
Do you know the majority of kickers in the NFL make the minimum (~500K, 300K after taxes) with little to no guaranteed money? The average career length of a kicker is a little less than 5 years, that's only 1.5M total in unguaranteed, post tax money IF the play the average career length. This average is probably skewed by the stud kickers like Janikowski/Vinatieri. The majority of Centers only a shade more. If you don't think 100-200K untaxed would make a player think twice, you are beyond naive. Add into the fact that most "mistakes" i.e. a missed FG here, a bobbled snap there would be overlooked anyways and the player wouldn't get cut, it would be almost stupid for players to NOT do it, especially if you aren't a star...or if you are a back up center playing in only a couple games in relief or a 3rd/4th string RB playing in only your second game. Do you think the Vikings are gonna cut their kicker?
A Steelers running back also makes the league minimum with no guaranteed money and is currently 3rd/4th string at best. Hey guy, here's 150K, fumble will you? You most likely won't be cut for a single fumble and you showed enough the previous game that they'll keep you. Why not, no one will know. You're a young 3rd string player, no one would suspect it. Do you think after that fumble he gets cut? Do you think he's worried about messing up his career knowing he was undrafted (by another team so already cut once) and currently plays behind two stud RBs?
Lets not be obtuse and pretend that every single player on every single team has 50M contracts with 10-15M guaranteed. It's just not the case.
And before anyone says that a true competitor would not throw a game because of their competitive nature, it'd be easy to get around that. Here's the scenario:
Before the game (or even season), guy tells a random player, "I'll give you 150K right now and maybe or maybe not, we will call on you to fumble/miss kick/bobble snap/whatever. Whether we do or not, you keep the money. The only catch is, once you take this money, we have a deal, no backing out or else." Player thinks, "what a deal, I could possibly get to keep this money without even having to do anything." Wiseguy thinks "this rook doesn't understand that lines are so tight that we could have him fumble at ANYTIME during the game (only a single turnover) and that could lead to our tickets cashing." And believe me, when you see 100K or 200K in cash staring you in the face, it's very impressive.
Let's not even get into the fact that money ISN'T the only possible reason someone would choose or be forced to fix a game.

Why isn't it legit? What makes it less legit than any other sport?
Did the new report even name anyone?
It's amazing you can say if you wager on tennis you are a fool when you don't know how it even works.
If Wawrinka shows up to the Basel Open where he lost first round something like 5/6 times and someone proceeds to wager on him as a -800 favorite and Wawrinka loses should that bettor be screaming fix or should they be yelled at for betting a huge favorite at a tournament where he plays terrible?
Fognini is another example. Dude lost something like 10 straight hard court matches and really only shows up for the clay court season. If the dude loses 10 straight matches on a certain surface and idiots keep wagering money on him is Fognini fixing matches?
I mean I can keep listing examples for you
Is there match fixing at a lower level of tennis at the challenger circuit and future circuit? Well of course there is because I've witnessed it personally but to go and think that match fixing is rampant on high level of tournaments such as Masters and Grand Slams like what the BBC article posted is plain STUPID. They gave ZERO names, at ZERO tournaments
Let me know when any high level player gets named in an article and then we can talk
