I wonder how Mavs season ticket holders feel? I'd guess Kyrie and Klay are excited but wondering how the average Mavs fan feels?
The NBA isn't a real sport. There will be plenty of BS reasons for the trade but truth is an exciting show is always needed in LA. This is not a real professional sports move. IF they wanted to trade Luka then they would have received twice as much shopping him. Taking an injury plagued older player for a perennial All Star who is 25 makes zero sense. Much like Jimmy Butler walking away from a team. The NBA is very, very lucky it is an international product. Being popular with Chinese brings in more money than being popular in the USA.

Remember when Finley took that beer off his hand after they advance to the nba finals? Mavs were already onto Luka.
anyways in terms of trade value. I’m guessing the mavs front office might have gotten a heads up that the league is about to go through a huge transitional period. Offense doesn’t sell anymore..
I hope I really hope defense and physical play makes a comeback!

None of it explains why they did not shop him for a better deal, which they could have easily gotten. It’s like selling your home to your friend without putting it on the market. The entire league is shocked. The fix was in.

why didn't the lakers shop around they surely could have gotten more for AD. 1 of 75 all time greats, two-way player plays offense and defense, doesnt need the ball to be effective, team player this was an easy trade for dallas when a guy lets you know he prob wont sign again and even if he did you'd have to break the bank to keep him. no trade clause for a player like that hmm

Shop him and outside factors i.e. Luka's people, fans, etc can complicate the deal. This is how deals used to be done. It is only in the internet driven, instant media age that we will like things must be public for them to be public. There are also salary/contract implications. Making a deal in the NBA isn't as simple as putting someone on the market and seeing who's the highest bidder. This is why almost every NBA trade has some random third or fourth team, such as Utah in this trade.

I have to imagine Luka really peed off somebody. To trade him because he gained weight while hurt in the middle of winter for someone over 30 is nuts. Who hasn't put on a few since the holidays? When you're 25 it's easily shifted.
I do think Luka is lazy and takes some bad forced long jumpers but no way am I trading him for AD

Fully agree with you. i get the feeling a lot of the folks posting dont actually watch the games. Luka is younger yes but for how long with that body lol. A healthy Davis is more of a game changer than the one dimensional Luka ,who is much like Harden on the Rockets. These guys cannot win as the lead dog.The NBA is a different product come playoffs and the Mavs have seen enough to know its time to jump ship. Ad is a top 10 player when healthy much like Luka but he does so much more than just score.

You really think the “goal” is to win?! It’s to make money! And Luka is a brand on to himself. Harden, with no titles to his name, is still 10x the star Davis and brings as many eyeballs and money to the arena. And please PM me because I have some swamp land I want to sell you that will make you a winner in a few years!

lakers are thinking long term, but dallas just got alot better without their pillsbury boy (cant jump, holds the ball for too long, doesnt play d, cant jump, throws up way too many shots, flopper, etc)....if glass man can stay healthy he fits good in dallas, kd was carrying the lakers imo, thats why he always hurt cause he the only that has bang with all those 7ftooters on oppossing teams , now he got help and he can move to power foward.....

I love the basketball savants on here who think they know more than Vegas odds makers and Dallas, whose title odds dropped significantly after the trade are actually better.
Before news of the deal broke, the Lakers were +4000 to win the 2025 NBA Finals and +2500 to win the Western Conference, according to ESPN BET odds. Immediately following the news, Los Angeles' odds shortened to +1800 to win the NBA title and sat at +1600 as of Sunday morning, the sixth-best odds in the league. The Lakers' conference title odds jumped to +900 before settling at +850.

You talk about watching the game then call Luka one-dimensional. Luka is an elite passer/facilitator and good rebounder for a guy in a 2-3 body. He lacks defense to point of being a liability but Steph Curry has been a denfensive liability for most of his career. He has only in recent years gotten "decent" for his size. Lebron James, heralded as a good defender, has never actually been a good point of attack defender. It's not his skillset. A good coach masks his defensive deficiencies. He's definitely not one dimensional though.

also imagine two ball dominant guys sharing the court one has to defer and it won't be bron even at 40. so who's gonna stand in the corner and wait for which to pass them the ball. I don't think luka can play off the ball if so I havent really seen it, maybe seen him set some screens at times.

Now that the Lakers are getting all the headlines and spotlight I wonder if it's time to bet the Clippers to win the championship? For Kawhi it's now or never

Do You guys see yet this is all rigged entertainment hence setting the lakers up for the next 15 years for a once in every 100 years talent. It is just like the WWE!!!!! Ratings were lacking and serious ppl stopped going to the games so bring in the big guns and get the trade done. You watch how ppl watch now. They always have a trick in the bag …..
