You think Luka is a once in 100 years talent. That is comical.

Steph Curry because i'm a Warriors homer but over my lifetime, too many to list.

A guy who despite being 'out of shape' having health issues is 25...you get a stud In Davis, who is also always injured.
This was the new Dallas owner, a Medical Doctor by profession, Miriam Adelson saying I'm on the hook to pay a fat slob 350 Large and he likely won't play 70 games a season, and their is no approved gambling yet in Texas.
Yeah, I don't think so.
Cuban had very little say and 2 franchise legends like Dirk and Finley never said not to trade him.
Btw, their gm Nico was a Nike exec when they botched the Steph Curry deal

As a Warriors fan I can tell you, it's not just the strain of these Supermax deals. It's also the luxury tax. The elephant in the room is that from a marketing standpoint, Luka is a white super star. That only gets you so far though. I feel like Luka deserved a supermax but at some point, teams are gonna say no mas. It's the same with the QB contracts in the NFL. We've gotten to the point where every franchise QB who comes up for a new contract sets the new record. Now you have teams like the Niners having to decide if Brock Purdy is worth more money that Patrick Mahomes. Something's gotta give.

@StumpTownStu
Luka is a white foreign player and with the melting pot that we have here in the States, I agree with you.
Ah, I've met Jed York, and the team's finance guy at the same event Mark Cuban was at in 2022.
If Jed signs Purdy for half of Mahomes he's a fool.
Purdy is no better than Kirk Cousins who got 4 for 180.
If I was York, I'd say Brock, Here's 3 for 120
Take it or pack your bags.

I think John Edward needs to call uncle Eddie for advice.

if doncic wasnt a liability on d then i would think its a decent trade but davis had similar numbers for NO plus hes a defensive monster. let me know when doncic has 10 blocks in a single game

Luka also been playing pro ball since he was 15/16....he has almost as much milage on him as AD
So the mavs might be treating him as closer to 30 years old than 26 years old (turns 26 end of month)

Great trade for both teams.
AD is a beast. Hopefully the body stays healthy. If so, Mavs will go to the finals this year.
Doncic is a great unknown. Certainly some issue with the body long-term.

I don't believe in the "liability of defense" narrative. Many point guards are liabilities on defense, usually because the are smallish and lack the height and length it usually takes to be a good point of attack defender. Steph was a liability on defense for the majority of his career and os only serviceable now. Still pretty bad. Lebron is 6'9" and a freakish athlete. He has never been a good point of attack defender. Never been a man on man ball stopper. He was labeled a good defender but mostly for heads up plays and chase down blocks. Not man defense. I think if your primary facilitator is also your primary scorer, he brings multiple things to the table and you surround him with tall, long defensive wings and a rim protector. He's a decent rebounder to boot as well.
