Well, my leans were right on last game, so I'm going to take a chance and make a play tonight. After all season, all the promise, the talk, the hype, and the hope...my play tonight is taking the Hawks to win SU. I'm hoping it won't be my last Pacers play, but I think it ends tonight. I think some of these players are wanting the season to be over, and Atlanta is going to be pumped up for this game. It wouldn't even surprise me if this game turns out to be a route, especially if Atlanta gets up early. The Pacers have to keep it close early because they haven't really shown much in terms of making a comeback to win.
I hope I'll be able to make a wager in game 7...but I'm not too confident.

Agree 100%.
And I'll be waiting for that Hibbert rumor you promised.

Definitely going to be interesting to see how it unfolds tonight. Alan, great job with the write-ups on Pacers game this season...followed your OH system for a bit and made some $$$. Thanks!

when a pacers fan bets against his own team, take pacers
Lol...you may be right my friend. I've been awful this series on picks. Definitely going to lay off and just watch game 7. The Hawks continue to be my nightmare team to wager on/against.

Here we go with round 2 for the enigma that is the Pacers. They've looked like the best team in the league at times this year...they've looked like the worse team in the league at times...yet here they are right on track where they wanted to be. Onto round 2.
The Pacers are 2-1 against the Wizards, and I really like how they matchup here. Atlanta is fairly similar to the Wizards, but the big key is that the Wizards don't have the stretch bigs that the Hawks did. This will put Nene inside against Hibbert, and Hibbert won't be the liability on D that he was against Atlanta. What I really liked the last 2 games from the Pacers is that their defense started to step up. Their offense is still klunky, but they are built on D, and we started to see that.
So how does this effect this series? All 3 games this year were very low scoring. Totals were 169, 158, and 166. Now, are the totals going to be this low every game this series? No...however, I do feel better and confident to jump back in to play the 1h unders. I'm going to do this for every game this series. I'm banking on the Pacers defensive matchup against the Wizards, and I'm banking on the Pacers not totally being able to dominate on the offensive end. First half total tonight is 92...I'll take it. I also think there's value in the Pacers winning this series at -165, so I'm going to put a little bit on that. If the Pacers ever get up by a game or 2, we can get a real good price on the Wizards to win the series, and be sitting real pretty.
I also like the fact that the Pacers are one step away from getting Miami...which was the goal from the beginning of the season. The Hawks always give the Pacers problems, and even though it wasn't pretty they got through the series and confidently won a game 7. I think the experience, motivation, and matchups play in favor of the Pacers in this series.
GL tonight everyone!

Good info Alan. Are u going to play the true OH system and chase with 2h unders if the first half doesn't hit? Or do u think its better for this series to stop after 1h? Thanks

Respect your knowledge on Indy as I've said many times but I disagree.
Hibbert and Mahimni leave everything to be desired on the offensive end and defensively outside of game 7, Hibbert regressed significantly, so much so, it was a historic regression.
Yes Hibbert performed in Game 7 but to wait that long to show up is much to much to bet on.
Wall and Beal were phenomenal against Chicago and I don't see them slowing down (although there will be rust) and Gortat and Nene will guard the post like a royal palace, one complimenting the other.
Too many questions for me to pay - money on Indy and they are big questions will few answers at times.
Washington? Game 1 will be a test but I can't see Indy leaving their home floor up 2-0, which eliminates home court.
We shall see. Congrats on the first round win

I don't bet anything in the NBA besides the Pacers because I don't know the teams as well, but I love the Thunder to win the series. A hobbled Chris Paul trying to guard Westbrook? The Clippers trying to guard Durant? Deandre and his free throw shooting issues...am I off base with this one?

No you are not off base. I am on board with the thunder. Not even close to as much value as the wiz and not worth a post but it was still worth some of my coin to avoid lines (that are ultra-sharp) in these playoffs. Blake and DeAndre had clear paths to the basket because GS had no center, all series and didn't take them (very bizarre). And then you have CP3 injury issues. To much disarray franchise and on the court for the Clips at the moment. All that leads to a Thunder series side.

I came to a definite conclusion last night about the Pacers. Granted I was under the influence of bourbon and Spurs Envy, but still...I feel as strong today as I did last night.
Out of the trades, coaching, acquisitions, etc...I've come to the conclusion that not developing Chris Copeland is the biggest mistake the Pacers have made this season.
In the first round I watched Kyle Korver wreak havoc on the Pacers. Last night I watched Marco Bellinelli contribute big time minutes, and big time shots from behind the three point line. I realized last night that all 3 of these guys are basically the same player...except Korver and Belinelli have been developed into serviceable defenders, and remarkable effective playoff shooters.
It speaks more to the current NBA style in which having 3 point shooters is essential, and the Pacers coaching staff dropped the ball on this one. He's a 6'8" outside shooter, but right now he's a $3 million paper weight on the end of the bench. If they would've developed him over the year, he could easily be a 15-20 minute a game player hitting threes and taking some pressure off the starters. He could be that spark coming off the bench that gives the starters some life when they are struggling...he could be the threat at the end of quarters and games for last second shots on set plays...he could be the matchup nightmare that causes the other team to change their lineup...he could be the guy that catches fire and goes 6 for 6 from 3 point land to steal a game in a series (for those who don't know that's what Trevor Ariza did in game 1).
I posted earlier that I didn't think Vogel should be replaced regardless of the outcome of the playoffs, but looking back on the lack of bench development, and some of the adjustments that didn't happen...I think I may have to re-evaluate myself on that opinion. I like teams to have continuity, but sometimes if your team doesn't have the right coach, making a change can be for the best...AS LONG AS YOU HAVE THE RIGHT REPLACEMENT.
By the way, Bynum has been ruled out for the postseason. Not a surprise, but man it would be nice to have him available if he was healthy. I'm reading between the lines, but the Pacers made it known that not only was he not available for the playoffs, but that he wouldn't be with the team. It leads me to believe that either he was causing a distraction with negativity, or that Hibbert's confidence was effected by him. Either way, it's a bummer from a Pacers perspective. If Hibbert was really shaken by the threat of Bynum in the locker room taking his job it's going to be tough for Roy moving forward. He's already been to a sports psychologist once before when struggling, and if he truly can't handle this I have to believe the Pacers and other teams are starting to think of him as damaged goods. Couple that with the fact that the league is absolutely a guard and wing player league in the post-season...Roy is going to need to turn his game around quickly in order to have relevance on this team and other teams in the future.
Side Note: Brutal loss on the OH system last game...67 points in the 4th...15 of them meaningless in the last minute or so of the game. Over the course of the year they happen though...just one of those bets you put in the rear view mirror and move on.

After watching the last couple games, it's pretty apparent that Whitman is the worse coach in the 2014 playoffs. If his team is not hitting outside jumpers, he has absolutely no plan on how to generate more sets, and mess with different lineups.
His team is also playing against a team with a center who was mentally falling apart yet they've managed to let him get on track, and get his confidence back. They also played right into the Pacers hands by playing a "knock down, drag out fight" style last game as opposed to trying to use their speed.
I knew Whitman was bad, but I can't believe how much he's contributed to giving away the last couple games. Normally it's tough to keep coaching in mind when capping games, but this guy makes a difference. I'll sprinkle a little bit on the Pacers +4.5 for this game as I don't see how Whitman figured out any adjustments or game plans for this pivotal game 3. My guess is this will be a close game coming down to the last minute.
