Thank you guys so much for your input. Haven't posted any plays because I haven't been playing anything on the Pacers myself. They are too inconsistent night to night for me to bet on. Hopefully once they get their rotations set I'll be able to get in the groove again and start a nice winning streak.
Side note: I am going to explore the gambling tv show and see what I can come up with. I'll keep everyone posted. And yes, Scalabrine will have to be a guest

Pacers really got waxed on that west coast swing, but I think that will help them with their upcoming schedule. They have a lot of eastern conference matchups that I think they can win. Because of their record and those west coast results they could be a little underrated. George Hill working his way back will help and they are finally having a little consistency with their lineups and rotations. Tonight at only -2.5 is pretty good value. I'll make a small play on the game tonight.
Side Note: if anyone is interested in joining our fantasy golf league go to the golf forum and all the info is posted. Great league, lots of fun and good payouts.

Sorry if anyone tailed me on the Pacers tonight. I have to admit, when I looked into the game I completely forgot about the Josh Smith situation. Obviously, the Pistons wanted him gone, and they wouldn't have done that drastic of a move unless the locker room was supportive of management in this decision. The results spoke for themselves as I watched this game...the Pistons played loose and free...lots of ball movement, and they looked like they were really enjoying themselves tonight. As soon as the announcers mentioned the Josh Smith situation I almost smacked myself in the forehead and yelled the Homer Simpson "DOH!!!". Anyways, I watched this bet fall apart quickly, and apologize if anyone tailed. I still think the Pacers will have some upcoming wins against the Eastern Conference teams, but tonight I didn't take everything into account, and that's when you get (and deserve) a loss. Can't believe I overlooked that tonight. Learning experience

Well, I've been downright terrible on Pacers picks this year. Probably down 5-7 units. Can't quite get in the groove, can't figure them out, lots of inconsistencies.
So, I figured I might as well have a little fun tonight. Here are 10 NBA fun facts. Some good bar bets in here, some funny stories, and just overall surprising things I bet most people didn't know. All thoughts and comments are welcome.
1. Eric Moreland and Mitch McGary are tied for the league lead in a category. Can you guess it? The answer is below.
2. The Rockets only score 6.5% of their points from mid-range shots. The rest comes from 3 pt, inside the lane and free throws.
3. The Pistons will pay Josh Smith $5.4 million dollars in 2020.
4. According to "Clutch Stats", the best team in the league is…the Atlanta Hawks
5. In terms of +/- the best player in the team is Terrence Jones of the Houston Rockets. The next 5 are from one team, the Golden State Warriors (Curry, Thompson, Green, Bogut, Barnes).
6. The Miami Heat average 3.7 blocks per game. Anthony Davis averages 2.8 blocks per game.
7. Here is what the Brooklyn Nets future draft picks look like.
2015-Atlanta gets to switch with them first round. Jazz get their 2nd round pick. 2016-Celtics get their first round pick, Clippers gets to switch with them in 2nd round. 2017-Celtics can switch with them in the first and second round. 2018-Celtics get first round pick. 76ers can switch 2nd round picks
Have fun rebuilding Brooklyn.
8. Elvin Hayes averaged 21 pts 13 rebus in the 1978 playoffs when the Washington Bullets won the championship. He tried to auction of the ring and got exactly 0 bids.
9. Lou Williams says he was going to get carjacked once, but the perp recognized him, so they got to talking and went to eat out at McDonalds.
10. The NBA gave the owners of the ABA team "Spirits of St. Louis" a $500 million buyout. The owners have already been paid over $300 million since 1976. The team has not existed in 38 years. (if you don't know the story, look it up. It may be the biggest business contract f*ck up of all time).
ANSWER TO THE FIRST QUESTION Eric Moreland and Mitch McGary have both attempted and made one shot this year giving them the league lead for shooting percentage at 100%.
BONUS LAUGH With the National Championship game coming soon let's relive OSU's starting QB's infamous 2012 tweet.
"Why should we have to go to class if we came here to play FOOTBALL, we ain't come to play SCHOOL, classes are POINTLESS."

Finding it really difficult this year to see some consistency one way or the other with the Pacers this year.
The only real thing I can see is that when they shoot 30% or more from 3 pt... they win. When they shoot less than 30% from 3pt they lose. Unfortunately, that's hard to predict.
The Pacers are in a weird situation. As bad as they have been, they are only 3 games out of the playoffs in the East...lol. They are also in the bottom 9 teams of the draft lottery. So they are almost at a crossroads right now. Tank and look for a good draft pick, and come back strong next year with a healthy PG (and possibly Lance again ), and a great draft pick...or try and make a run at getting the 7 or 8 seed in the playoffs.
Their problems from last year on the offensive end continue, but this year they don't have the great defense to rely on. Lance and PG were underrated defenders last year, and they really miss that. I don't think there's enough on this current roster to gel and make a legit playoff run this year, and as a fan I hope they play the young guys and bench guys and rest David West. Get the role players better this year, get PG back next year, get a solid young player and make a run next year.
In the last Pacers 10 losses, they lost against the spread as well. So the trend is looking like if you think they will lose, they will probably lose against the spread as well. I think betting against them ML moving forward could be profitable. I throw a little bit on the Raptors tonight, and see if the Pacers continue to struggle. Hopefully their struggles can be our profits.

They are being very quiet about it. I would assume it's going pretty good...if there was a major setback we would've heard about it by now. Unfortunately, that's all I know about the injury. If they keep losing I'm sure he will be shut down for the season.

You obviously must mean betting ml against them when they are favorite might be profitable in the future
I know most people don't want to bet ML on teams that are favorites, but I just don't see how this Pacers team is going to rack up wins. I know it's laying a lot of juice, but as some would know with me...I don't have a problem laying juice. I think if the Pacers opponent is -200 or better...it's a good bet. Pacers have lost a lot of games recently, and I'm not sure how it gets better. I totally understand if people don't agree with this strategy...it's not recommended by "sharps", but this Pacers team doesn't seem to have what it takes to win very many games.

After the all-star break, it's always good to see what the mindset of the teams are in terms of tanking and going for a playoff run.
All indications point to the Pacers trying to get into the playoffs, and to get Paul George back by mid to late March.
I guess it makes sense. When they get Paul George back, they basically have the same team as last year minus Lance. That team may have a decent chance to make some noise in a wide open East.
I think the important thing to look at is that the Pacers might be good value bets against teams that are looking to trade away talent in order to tank and get a better draft pick. They also are probably going to be fighting in all the games moving forward so beware about betting the spread against them. I'll look at the schedule and see if there is a good stretch coming up for them.

Haven't updated this thread in a while.

I agree with you Alan the Pacers could surprise some people in the EAst this year. THe Pacers have talent and still play defense at a high lvl. I will be following this thread to see when good spots to bet the Pacers are.

Paul George was a full participant today at practice. Pacers to win the East could be a really sneaky play at a great price. If they get matched up with Washington that would be a dream first round. If PG is healthy I like the way they would match up against Toronto and ATL. Not saying that Pacers will win the East, but I would like to be holding that ticket to get some great hedging opportunities.

Pacers are +10000 right now. That's a fantastic price for a team that could look the same as last year except for Lance, and could be one of the healthiest teams in the East.

Got to put down 1 unit on that price. I agree great value. Hope to talk with u about hedging opportunities come playoff time
I put a unit as well. It's a cluster in the East, but 3 of the next 5 games for the pacers are against the 76ers and Knicks and they have a good schedule from there on out. I expect PG to start playing in 2 weeks.
