Feel fortunate to have the OH system work here with Boston's games putting up so many points. But the theory held true with Pacers offense sputtering and defense coming through in the second half. Pacers play agin tomorrow and I'm starting to get some pretty strong opinions about this team. I'll think a little more overnight and elaborate tomorrow. Hope everyone had a profitable night

Also going to make a small play on the Wizards -3. Pacers are so depleted, I don't know how much energy they are going to have tonight. Wizards played good in a back to back earlier this year...I think they get the win and the cover here.

Sticking with the OH system tonight.

1. As hard as I may try. As much research as I can do. With all the Encyclopedias, Dictionaries, Thesauruses, and websites there are in the history of mankind...I cannot find the words to describe how awful that first half was. Pacers had 10 turnovers in the first quarter. Couldn't shoot, can't defend...and now Hibbert just hurt his knee and there is no reason to bring him back into this game.
2. Injuries are a part of the game, but this is ridiculous. The Pacers are now playing with 7 out of their best 8 players gone or hurt from last year.
3. Very fortunate to hit the OH system in the first half with how many shots the Wizards made. Of course, it's pretty easy to make shots 3 feet from the basket with nobody guarding you.
4. I'm going to play with a little bit of house money here. Gonna play the Wizards TT over 44. Pacers have nobody to defend anymore, and even if the Wizards put in the bench...they still are going to get good looks.
5. You couldn't pay me enough to watch the second half of this game.
GL tonight everyone

Couple things here on that first half...

Going back to the OH system tonight. It's been good so far...
Also going to make a small play on the Jazz to win the first half straight up. The Pacers have a bad habit of starting out really slow and then having to play catch up, and their roster is still depleted. I think the Jazz should be able to outplay them to start the game.

Play looked good til the Pacers went on a 12-2 run to end the half. No plays in the second half for me as I don't like the lines and don't have a great feel for this game.

Good win on the first half under. Jazz

Looks like there's lots of money coming in on the under for this game as the line has gone down. I've got the 1h under locked in at 95...that's going to be my only play for the OH system.
As bad as the Pacers have been, here's a couple things I really like in what I'm seeing:
1. I wrote last year about how the Spurs give lots of minutes to lots of guys and that gets them ready for big moments, and it saves wear and tear on the starters. I also criticized the Pacers last year for not doing that, but this year they have been forced into playing bench guys with starter minutes. What I am seeing is players like Sloan and Copeland develop their games and get valuable playing time, and sure enough...they are getting better! Copeland is averaging 15 pts a game, and his defense is actually getting better. The Pacers are turning the ball over a lot, but they did a good job not turning the ball over against the Jazz. I see that getting better. What this does is it gives this team some much needed depth when George Hill, Stuckey and DWest come back, and it allows the coach to experiment with different rotations and matchups.
2. This Pacers team is not afraid to shoot and make 3 pointers. They are top 15 in 3 point shots made, top 12 in 3 points shots attempted, and Copeland is top 10 in 3 point shots made per game. This is a nice change for this team. When Hibbert and West are healthy they will have nice size and height inside, but this stretch is giving the team confidence in shooting the 3 pt shots on the kickouts. I also like the addition of these shooters like Copeland, and Rudez because they are tall and are hard to guard outside, and the ability to stretch the defense even an extra foot or so from the inside will help this team long term.
Obviously, the Pacers have struggled, and have looked completely terrible at times, but throughout all the injuries I actually like what they are doing, and I think this stretch will ultimately help the Pacers long term. Don't be surprised if this team gets healthy over the next couple months and goes on a really nice run of covering the spread.

Honestly, I don't think the motivation is a factor. None of the starters from last year are playing except for Hibbert who is banged up as well with a bad knee (which is absolutely crazy if you think about that...no healthy starters from last year). The Heat (and Dwayne Wade in particular) are well rested, and the Pacers don't have guys in the lineup to guard Bosh or Deng.
The Heat are still finding their identity, but if they get out ahead of the Pacers I think they pour it on. Especially when guys like Chalmers and Haslem get in the game who like to get their points and stats when a game is a blowout.
On offense, the Pacers are still pretty unpredictable, as they got rid of the turnovers the other night inexplicably and cost me a bet on the Jazz. So my opinion right now is to lay off the spread until we see some more patterns from the Pacers. They certainly have the offense to keep it close, but I don't know when it will show up. Too much uncertainty for me.

I can get 250-1 odds on pacers winning the NBA championship, would you take that. It must be an error, my other site has 50-1
Hahahaha...I guess putting $1 on it would be fun to watch for the rest of the season. The only scenario in which is happens is if these guys playing now get to .500 and really start playing well and then when West and Hill come back they start ripping off wins and then PG comes back in April to make an incredible playoff run. Sounds fun though!

"Whenever there is a big injury, people tend to freak out, and for good reason. However, when there's an injury it opens up spots to see what other guys can do, and sometimes someone comes out of nowhere to be impressive, and then when your injured players comes back your team has improved."
After watching all the Pacers games this year, I can say that I have been watching this happen, particularly in the last 2 games. As awful as they were at the beginning of the year, they've stopped the bleeding on the turnovers, and they have been working the rebounds. The guy that is really stepping up is Chris Copeland, and if you were in the thread last year you know I was screaming for this guy to get more playing time. It's happened by default this year, and he is showing exactly why he is a dangerous player. Went for 17 and 5 tonight, and is the leading scorer on the team.
But here's what doesn't show up if you're just looking at the box score, and this is why I only bet on a team that I can watch all the games. These guys have out-hustled, and out-worked the Jazz and now the Heat. The defense is playing aggressive and fast...even guys like Copeland, Sloan and even Rudez are learning that you have to play good defense on this team. The bench is up and cheering...there is a real energy with this team, and getting a couple of wins in a row is a nice reward for how hard they are working. Now, two game is not a big sample size, but they went from several horrendous games to two really tough, gritty performances in a row. Tonights game was very impressive. The Heat had matchup advantages at 3 positions, but didn't take advantage, and the Pacers defense had a lot to do with it. In the world of betting, we have to be ahead of the streaks rather than jumping in at the end when the betting markets adjust, and I think this team may be ready for a nice streak of covering lines.
Last year he was in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons, but Roy Hibbert is playing great. He doesn't have West on the court with him, but he's playing big and tough, and is really doing a great job in the paint. You won't hear him mentioned in the national media, but this guy is playing all-star quality basketball.
As far as betting, I'll be interested to see the lines in the upcoming games. This is the type of team that can cover a lot of games because they don't ever give up, and with their defense they can keep games low scoring, and now that some of these guys are starting to feel what its likes to win as starters in the NBA...they can probably keep a lot of these games close. There will be some bumps along the way, but this is starting to look like a good team to support.
I will absolutely keep playing the OH system. Got a nice hit on it tonight, and I don't see any reason why it shouldn't continue.

I posted this before the year started.

Pacers host the Nuggets tonight, and these are two teams going in opposite directions. Pacers are only -2.5, and I like what I've seen from the Pacers recently so I'll make a play on them to win and cover.
I'm still sticking to the OH system even though the Nuggets have been a defensive embarrassment. 1h under is 98.5 so I'll play that as well tonight.

Thank you! I said that I thought the Pacers would make a run with covering spreads...didn't play it tonight because I was too busy working but I stand by the theory. Really like the grit and hustle the team plays with

Also, going to play the Pacers to win. The Hornets are terrible on the road and have gotten killed recently by the Warriors and Mavs. Obviously the Pacers aren't the quality of those teams, but they are playing with confidence and I think the Pacers are going to be a good team to cover some spreads here in the next few weeks. Feels like the home team is playing better and the road team is in the middle of a struggling streak.
