What have I given you since the start of the NFL season if you read my write-ups?
Jets +3.5 over Bucs W
Pats -13 over Jets L
Jags +27 over Denver W
Bills +2 over Jets W
Dallas +2.5 over Giants W
Dolphins +1 over Jets W
That's 5-1 ATS this year.
What happened in the NBA this year? I laid out why I thought the Blazers would SMOKE the Suns. I told you how they had the talent to make major noise out West with a fully healthy roster. What happened? They came out flat as a pancake and I picked them in one of the few games they were blindsided on. Since then they have gone 13-5 ATS, among the best in the NBA. My loss.
If you don't think I tried to get you your money back for that one NBA game, you are out of your mind.
I am very selective. I only post when I see and edge and may not be on this site for weeks if I don't like what I see.
What I see on Thursday night is gold. And it can be yours. All you have to do is take it. I already did the digging.
What do almost all my wins above have in common? They involve my local teams that I've followed all my life: The Knicks, Nets, Jets, and Giants.
Well this game is very special because it involves not one of my locals, but two, and I couldn't ask for anything more.
The game is Knicks @ Brooklyn and I don't care what the line is as long as the Knicks aren't favored.
I have watched the Knicks and Nets my entire life and I can tell you that what is going on in Brooklyn right now is almost unprecedented in terms of ineptitude. I've been to Knicks and Nets games too many times to count. Like the Jets and Giants, I have special reads on these teams beyond what the books 'think they know' and I'll put that knowledge up against any line of any sportsbook manager.
That puts me at an advantage and I am sharing that advantage with the board if I see one.
There is an advantage here and I am convinced the Knicks will end their 9 game losing streak in Brooklyn tomorrow.
Why?
The Knicks are not the worst team in the NBA despite their record and recent struggles. The Nets are.
I would not even bet on them to beat the Bucks or Jazz at this present time (despite beating up on the Jazz once this season, their only impressive victory margin) on the road or at home.
Yes, the Nets have 5 wins and that means almost nothing given how this team has played in their past few games, especially at home. Their lone impressive win this season against a quality opponent came against the Heat with a fully healthy Nets squad at home. Every player on the team contributed in that game from the first starter to the last bench player and that was the only game that resulted in an impressive win. That was also the first game at home in Brooklyn since the ultimate embarrassment: the loss to the Bulls in the first round in game 7 last year. The place was rocking and the Nets gave everything they had and put up their most complete effort of the season. They won by a single point.
Forget the recent win at Memphis (no Gasol, no Zach). The Grizzlies couldn't beat anyone on that night and losing to the Nets proved it. The Nets won against the Suns and Raptors by a basket each, one coming at the buzzer of all buzzers on a JJ layup in Phoenix.
So three of their 5 wins came by a combined 5 points (yes, 3 of the five victories were as thin as a spider web strand) and then they beat a completely depleted Memphis team and maybe the only team worse than them (at that time but no longer), the Jazz by 14.
The losses have come in bunches on the road and at home but let's focus on how they've done at home since the Knicks will be visiting.
How are they doing at home after the Jazz home win?
Lost to the Nuggets by 24! (At HOME!)
Lost to the lousy Lakers by 5
Lost to the Pistons by 12!
Lost to the Blazers by 10
Lost to the Pacers by 5
That's an average losing margin of 11.2 ppg at home, in their last 5. That is unfathomable for a team that was supposed to contend for the Eastern Conference Championship and solidifies the statement they are the worst in the league. Let's not quibble over the Bucks and Jazz being worse. That is not the point of this post.
Now you ask, why are the Nets in such a free fall?
Injuries have something to do with it. No Deron. Brook was out during some of those games. Pierce has a broken hand now. Kirelenko is out indefinitely. ALL of those players mean something to this team. Only Brook is back (and Deron's status is doubtful for Thursday).
Because of these injuries, guys like Tyshawn Taylor and Alan Anderson are STARTING and getting significant minutes.
Do you know who they are? Doesn't matter. I do. They are nice pieces as 10th 11th and 12th men, NOT starters. Never in my wildest dreams did I think these guys would be starting at any time after we traded with Boston. Well here it is right before me. They were starting against the Nuggets and got crushed.
