By the way, another small tidbit.

THIS GAME WILL BE ON TNT.

Thursday night TNT NBA games are equivalent to Monday Night Football in the NFL. It's a big game in a big stage.

Amazingly, this will be the game to determine the league's worst, after all the hype.

Given my OP, who do you think will have what it takes to avoid wearing such an ignominious badge?

The choice is there for the taking...

    Best of luck....

The Knicks like the Nets are also a dysfunctional mess. Shumpert is arguably the worst starting player I have ever seen on an NBA roster. He is woefully bad, he cannot shoot 3's, yet he jacks them up as if he is the reigning 3 point champion. I saw a stat against Portland where he played pretty heavy minutes during the first 3 qtrs., and he didn't have a FG, no rebounds, no assists and no steals. But he did have 2 turnovers. He is just so bad, it is not funny.

    Now to the Knicks bench.

JR Smith is more interested in tweeting than working on his jump shot. Amare Stoudamir?, . Pablo is really showing his age, Artest, , he really really has fallen off the face of the earth. The Knicks bench is disgustingly bad save for Hardaway Jr who I think is going to be something really good.

The Knicks are just a jump shooting team, if their 3s go down, they will win, if not, forget it. It really is a flawed team, that gets really exposed without Chandler.

Brooke Lopez will molest Bargs in the post, he will also abuse K Mart.

The X factor for the nets is Joe Johnson. When interested, he is up there.

Not for one second am I saying the Knicks cannot win, no, rather, I don't understand how you are that optimistic. That's all.

    Best of luck.

I must add as bad as Iman is on offense, he makes up for it on defense so there is a positive contribution of sorts.

Also, I did note Brook will get his points in the OP as you said. There is currently no starting center on the Knicks at the moment. But Brook can be soft when pushed to the limit and KMart on switches will make him earn his baskets.

Bargnani is an awful defender yet has found ways to light up the blocks portion of the box score (10 in his last 3 games) is also becoming a better rebounder as he shoulders the load night in night out in Chandler's absence 23 Reb in the past 3.

And the past three games are what needs to be focused on because if that is the window, the Knicks are actually on the upswing and should have beat the Pelicans. Their loss is our gain because if they did win, given the way the Nets lost to the Nuggets and publicly scapegoated Frank, this line might be -1.5 Knicks. Instead it is +1 Knicks at the moment but will move.

And if there is one player you cannot depend on, it is Joe Johnson. That guy is a closer and always makes the highlights for game winners but he will also shoot you out of a game or quietly give you 14 on a poor shooting night making you noncompetitive.

This game will not lay at the feet of JJ. I can assure you of that.

Of this game? I'm not really interested in OU's at all. I just know the losing streak will end in Brooklyn. There is so much swirling around the Knicks right now, a 4 day layoff to get themselves right vs. the only team in the league I would want to end a streak to if I were the Knicks results in a win. With a line of +1, all we need is a W to bring the  home.

My one fear is that this is too one sided analysis. I'd like some good write up in this thread about why the Nets could win. I note the haters are largely absent since the Miami win...

There is no good reason. Look at their 5 wins.

Heat - fully healthy while winning but now injury plagued
Jazz - jazz were winless at the time
Suns- nice little road win but literally came with 0 seconds
Ratpors- good win but raps came all the way back and had an open three to win it that should have went down
Memphis - no gasol, no zach

There really is no case here as to why the nets should win. I leave that to the board but honestly won't waste my time looking for such a reason given what has transpired at home and with the coaching staff/injuries.

A rookie coach with no previous coaching experience is not the guy you want at the wheel to get the maximum effort out of an injury ravaged team.

agree with most points but this.

lawrence frank. you give him credit as the X's & O's guy & wrongly state his absence resulted in nuggets 24 point win.

nuggets won by 24 simply cause they are younger, healthier & won all the effort plays. Frank being on the sideline would not change this.

Frank sucks, sucked & always will suck. i give credit to Kidd for quickly realizing his mistake & making a brave call to bench him.

& how do you hate on kidd for how this season started? Would you want your job judged cause you lead a bunch of spoiled children that cant bring themselves into the season in shape? Dwill & AK are always hurt, always. Pierce & garnett are comical. He is working with 1 good player & that is brook lopez.

knicks will win simply cause the nets are a bunch of zeros.

I thought Knicks before your write up and even more convinced now.. Nets are missing hella key players and point blank its just not there game to win.. Knicks wanna end this ugly streak that's probably caught them by surprise.. Overall I"ll ride with melo over jj any day and give me k- mart over hairball brook Lopez also.. And I don't even bet on east coast teams if its not Miami or overs in philly 76ers games... But like u said 2marro is free GOLD +1 yea ill make an exception ... Not to jinxed or anything .. Good luck Money keep up the good work...

appreciate the time and effort you contribute scalabrine.rite OR wrong there aint another damn person around here that is willing to share and offer in this way.that alone has to be respected...........as most others,i cant disagree with anything pointed out, shuffling frank out the way will prove to be a HUUUUGE mistake...j.kidd is amongst my top 3 favouite players of AAALLL time, had posters of the dude on my wall decades ago...but his appointment to this position at this time(wen he was hired that is) was ill-advised at best and absolutely abominably disastrous at best.i mean seriously a guy with no serious top level coaching experience to speak of at all who is barely removed from the playing arena himself, thereby leaving a very blurred line in terms of player/coach respect,is asked to control and co-ordinate these egos and unfamiliar pieces????......talk about a recipe for a melt-down.in no way did i see it turning out this bad, injuries or not,but i think the only saving grace for the guy was having that trusted confidant, frank,by his side thru wateva trials and tribulations may pop up....well so much for that after an alleged blow-up and shouting match between the 2 from wat i hear.
and nets must be about the bottom of the barrell currently yes,tho as pointed out that shudnt be the case by seasons end.

and even tho im definitely buying wat youre selling in this matchup, just to play devils advocate we mustnt forget that it is a game between 2 bad teams(always a very dodgy betting proposition)and the knicks are also in a bit of a mess at the moment.its cool to say they are desperate for a win and need to end the streak but thats been the case for quite a few games now and valiant efforts aint been enough to get the job done.their success relies heavily on whether outside shots are dropping and this can be a hit'n'miss proposition to be laying money on.i guess in their favour is the weak, slow and cumbersome defense of the nets wing players and team in general however.and no-one can convince me that carmelo hadnt mentally/emotionally checked out before seasons opening even, looking forward to impending free agency.which has certainly reflected in his team-mates belief/respect/loyalty towards him and in turn their performance...nowhere is this better exemplified than in long-range shooting which is massively confidence-based.it has been below par much of the season and this could well be a reflection of feeling a lack of brother-hood,togetherness and cohesion which infuses players with confidence.just my take on it anyhow, perhaps a different angle than some would take but im sure players can feel they gunna be "left out to dry" by their leader in the very near future.

anyhoo, sorry for rambling, just wanted to give some balance to the argument but in no way am i giving a strong counter-point to discredit your view,i actually like the spot and see no reason why knicks wont come out as desperate as you expect them to.i suspect this is a place and a team j.r. cud have a break-out game against also, which his team been desperately waiting on and carmelo is a brooklyn guy too right??maybe a little xtra juiced he might be in hometown surrounds......so,all in all,i reckon you got the right side with just a small caveat regarding the knicks own issues and troubles.but there is certainly more reason to put faith in a strong performance by them than the other mob at the moment and not having to lay any points is golden

by the way im the guy who came in your other write-up saying the blazers arent for real and would fall off at some point,haha...its only bloody-mindedness and stubborn-ness making me stand by my assertion but i must concede they are truly shocking me with every additional win they pile on.by no means do i disregard what talent they have.i see they got a real solid core of just below star-level players and a few nice pieces on the bench now also....but being in the west and also being a (normally!!!!) weak road team should be catching up to them at some stage and i expected their stellar record to be chipped away at....hasnt happened yet.im kinda intrigue-ed now 2 find out how right or wrong i am

thanks again for the literature, keep it coming
