I say they are not ready, the roster is depleted/injured/unimpressive and they get a 'mad as hell' Blazer team who have to open up at home against the Spurs the following night.
You don't want to open against the Spurs at 0-2, on a 15-game losing streak looking half-as$ed the way you did last season.
Home court advantage in the thin air? Not so much in this spot.
The Suns loss was due to Dragic, Bledsoe, Plumlee playing out of their minds, in addition to many other role players stepping up. It was a tsunami of solid basketball with a team that runs and guns (a much easier system embraced by new faces/current players) and the Blazers could never recover.
..
The suns loss was due to the Suns caring about the game more than the Blazers. You keep "capping" these games based on your feelings not the player's. Ending their losing streak is the most important thing to you, not to the players. They won't have champagne on ice in the locker room, ready to celebrate a win in Denver. They have their home opener tomorrow night against the defending conference champs.
If you ask any player which of the 2 games they want to win more, they will all say tomorrow's. They will not be selling out to win this one, because the last thing they want is to get blown out at home tomorrow. Meanwhile, it's Den's home opener, and they don't play again till Tuesday. You don't think the Nuggets are going to put everything into winning this game in front of their fans?
So, just like I told you last time, I wouldn't want my money going against the team that wants it more.

Yes I cap based on feelings.
My last thread was an essay with every angle from here till next Wednesday and this thread clearly states the issue with Shaw's half-court offense.
Yet, the cattle come in the thread herd by herd, repeating the same thing over and over.
If I get 3 more like you, I may have to put the entire other half of my BR on the ML because my confidence level in the pick is skyrocketing.

I'm a big Nuggets fan and have followed this team for years. I will not be playing this game, but wanted to point out that while you do make great points for Portland, you are discounting that Denver is now playing better defense. Also, I'm not sure what you have against Hickson, but he looked decent in his debut.
Another thing to take into consideration is opening night, say what you will about a long season, but players get more amped up for their home openers and that's a reason I could see Denver winning by DD.
However, this team is unlike any Denver team over the past 6+ years and I don't see how any value can be found on the spread side of their games until about game 15. Where the books are messing up is the total. This team slows it down and does play better D now and this total is way to high.
Again, I'm not playing this game but will be cheering for the Nuggets and wanted to give you my two cents. BOL
I'll take the Blazers defense over the Nuggets defense after 1 game each. Thanks.
You're right, this is unlike any other Denver team in the last 6 years: it's the weakest.

It is people like you that give the sports betting industry a bad name.
I said if I get three more guys here ill risk the rest and anyone who can read between the lines knows I'm saying that tongue and cheek because of lemmings like yourself.

I posted early in your last thread telling you why Portland might take that game lightly and pointed out that the worst 2 teams in the league last year won their home openers outright. You said no team takes the 1st game lightly, and what Orl and Char did last year had nothing to do with Phoenix's spot.
I'm in this one pointing out again, how this game is more important to Den than Portland. So I'm not sure why my not agreeing with this bet makes you want to bet more, when I didn't agree with the last one either.
As I told you last thread, I'm getting my money on Portland tomorrow. So if you have any bankroll left, maybe we'll be in agreement then.

A lot of guys are mad because they probably tailed the play and lost lol If you did that's ok, just sit this one out and let the dude prove himself, but if the Blazers lose....D'Artagnan this cat!

Disclaimer: I am not a friend of Scal. Most of the time in GD, I'm not a fan of Scal. Quite frankly, many is the time I see a Scal topic, I won't even open it..................
But, the Portland/Sun write-up was the best of the very young season. Messy points out that the Suns started off 30-16 and "cruised" to the win. I guess cutting the lead to 4 points is all part of cruising.......
Now, people are jumping on the "betting 1/2 your bankroll" statement. Scalabrine, up front told everyone that this was not a good move or smart betting tactic. He told everyone that his bankroll was small enough that he could try this. And that it wouldn't keep him from making future bets.
You never bet money you cannot afford financially or emotionally. I believe I wrote that in that thread. If you have $100,000, you don't bet $50,000. But who hasn't had $100 in our pocket, and put $50 down on a game? Come on! Seems a lot of post are focused on this. Again, some are so focused on this one thing (probably not even having read the Suns thread) it's like "This is a stupid bet, you lost, so FU, and take your entire betting history with you"! Hardly sound reasoning, don't you think?
It's difficult to use betting and sound reasoning in the same sentence. If Scal gives a reason for a bet, and you have a different take, bring it on. But don't jump on anybody without doing a little homework. The kneejerk "FU Scal".........we should be above this..................most of us, anyway

I will be pulling for you. I am going to be waiting for the suns to go to Portland to get my money back.
I am officially scared about home openers, and the bad teams play much harder to start the season as they believe they all could be the next big thing and then add in mostly fresh legs. Very hard to handicap.

If you think for a second a single soul on this site would say that your point about Orl and Char winning their home openers LY had something to do with outcome of the phx game in any way, even as historical reference, you are out of your mind.
Just because Phx won doesn't necessarily mean your point had any legitimacy. That is a logical fallacy of the highest order and you are engaging in it.

At home, Denver is one of the best teams ATS going 28-13. A good fade will be the Blazers on the road, they went 16-22 ATS the past year. They also have failed to cover 12 of their last 14 games.
