Hank Stram...SB-"formula"

For those of you, that have heard if it:

VERY impressive, over-all results, from it...

...year-in-year-out.

Has anybody "worked-it-out" for this year?

Most of it is based off of run defense and rushing offense, including rewarding “points” to a team that has less pass attempts for the season also no bonus for being in the super bowl in past 3 years only for winning it? 

seems outdated to me

The Hank Stram formula turned ice cold for the very reasons that you state...

The modern NFL shifted to the aerial attack.

Have 6 Hall of Fame players on Defense and give up single digits for each Playoff game on the way to a Superbowl victory..That's the Hank Stram way

 I loved his Monday Night Football radio broadcasts as well and he was amazing when asked for his picks. I thought Stram was brilliant.

Never really, "looked-in-depth", into the "madden sim".

Perhaps i should, ALSO, take THAT into consideration

HOWEVER...i would STILL LIKE-to "inject" into my "capping"-of-the-game, Stams-"formula", if somebody here has worked-it-out, properly.

 Very close, I make it CIN 30, LAR 28 using the Stram method of awarding points.

The points are a measure of perceived strength, not a final score projection.

17 total scenarios, 2 of which neither qualified for and 1 other was a tie (rush avg.)

Wow, this video should pump up Bengals backers, big time. +170 CIN ML looks exceptionally yummy from this SB 56 simulation.

Its a great simulation and all, but its missing the REF factor.

You know. The one where, we all start making threads, on BS penalties that end up making a change to the game. 

I do hope the refs make fair calls, and NOT cause a fu&kery out of the super bowl. 

Responsible for multiple generations of good ol' American fans of American football not knowing the definition of matriculate. His use is so much better, and is almost onomatopoeia. Not is it's truest sense, like "boom" or something, but the word sounds like it should be used in the way he used it.

Give 4.0 points to the team that has the better net penalty yards number. Bengals
Give 3.5 points to the team that has the greater yards per pass attempt. Bengals
Give 3.5 points to the team that has allowed up the fewest points on the season. Rams
Give 3.5 points to the team that has given up the fewest amount of rushing touchdowns. Bengals
Give 3.0 points to the team that has recorded the most sacks. Rams

Give 2.5 points to the team with the fewer offensive pass attempts. Bengals
Give 2.0 points to the team that had the best net punts (total) on the year. Bengals (I went with total net punting yards but Stram might have meant net yards per punt in which case it would be Rams)
Give 1.5 points to the team with the best offensive yards-per-carry average. Push
Give 1.0 points to the team with the better completion percentage. Bengals

Bengals - 35 1/2

Rams     - 22 1/2

Someone please double check this...if you spot an error feel free to correct me.

 Yeah, leaning Cincy also...I was surprised by the results above but I wish Stram was around to tweak his system.

"Net Punts" could simply be the difference between the number of OFF vs. DEF punts.

 The average gain per pass attempt for regular season is Rams 7.28 to Bengals 7.22, if you include playoff games to this point it's 7.47 to 7.05.
So Rams deserving of that 3.5, I agree about the net punting confusion and the award of those 2pts.

CIN 32 -LAR 26 (if you interpret the punting in Cinci favor)

CIN 30 - LAR 28 (judging punting scenario in Rams favor)

According to the NFL stats' website, the Bengals average gain per pass attempt was 8.7 yards versus 8.1 yards for the Rams. Here is the link: https://www.nfl.com/stats/team-stats/

Yeah, was trying to post before and locked out.
Like the punting scenario, AGPPA open to interpretation too.
Some use gross (your figures), some use net (mine), overall pretty close no matter how sliced or interpreted.
Never been a SB decided by 2 pts, I'd say this is the game to accomplish that :)
