Just asking you guys if the Chicago Bears, in your opinion, should stick with him in 2024 and beyond? Or should they move on and draft a QB like a Caleb Williams, or a Drake Maye, or even a JJ McCarthy possibly?

@Froggy123
How are u going to stick with him when he has not even thrown for 300 yards in an NFL game yet in his career..200 yards is even a struggle for him....Already his 3rd season....He is not it..U draft a QB when u are drafting that high..because u never know when u will drafting that high again and need a QB..

Couple of things. First off I am not a "fan" or defending Fields but here are my questions for you.
1. He hasn't really been setup with the best coaching situation. Eberflus and Co look lost all of the time.
2. Fields may not be the answer but I know you watch a ton of College football and you name 1 qb coming up who would be an upgrade at this point? This crop of draft doesn't look like world beaters.
Just my 2 cents. Open for rebuttle.

I wouldn't draft any of the qb's high who are projected 1st rounders if I'm any team.
Load up on positional guys that high. Marvin Harrison Jr should be #1 imo.
@davemsh
He threw for 335 vs Denver this year

@Froggy123
That is a tough decision. Not many great college Qbs and about a half dozen NFL teams in desperate need of a QB next season. Slim pickings.

@Brooklyncapper
Daniel Jones was never going to be good. Just because he was part of David Cutcliff's tutelage? He was mediocre at Duke. That was a horrible decision.

True, Fields threw for 160 yards Sunday, but he also ran for 104 yards. That's nice, but he needs to show more passing ability, better decision making, among other things.... Imo, Bears should draft a QB like you said, and move on. Imagine if they picked Stroud last draft. Bears wanted to see improvements in Fields, and they also felt the 2023 QB class was not as great as this upcoming one. But I see nobody that really stands out for 2024.

Fields has 6 games left to prove his worth. Interesting offseason for the Bears. Maybe Eberflus won't be around. Yes, it's possible a new coach can help "develop" Justin Fields but time is running out. Bears had that game yesterday. Just had to run out the clock

I’d stick with Fields and draft a receiver such as Harrison Jr. if Fields can ever stay on the field consistently he’ll be able to win games. He’s a slow starter. It seems that it takes him a few games + to get rolling and when he does he can be good for a stretch. When he gets hurt and comes back, once again he’s a slow starter and needs a few games to get rolling again. Thats my observation from a distance. I may not have a clue wtf I’m talking about.

When he was injured on the sideline. Everytime the camera was on him. He was just chillin wearing shades. No communication with players/coaches/QB

Caleb Williams mights be okay but those other two are garbage. I wouldn’t draft any of them to replace fields you’ll be in the same boat in 2 years.

Absolutely they should move on from him. They have until May to decide to pick up the option. But his salary really jumps and they are then more stuck with him.
But certainly they should unload him. He has not made great improvements at all and they evaluated him poorly for what they needed.
If someone makes a decent enough offer on him, fine. Because what you would be hit for and save are abount the same.
But do not draft any of the current NCAA guys early. Draft the guys you can really use and are hardly going to be misses. Then if a decent QB is available in the later rounds, get him.
Then grab a decent veteran and see if your new draftee can sit for a year or so and pick the game up. No teams do this enough now.
But Fields is not the answer. He is simply a bad NFL QB at this point with no upside in sight.

Chicago Bears historically when they win run the ball hard and play strong D. Average QB with a low salary will do.
Spend money accordingly and stop wasting high draft picks.

LMAO.....JJ McCarthy?? You have to be joking?? He will be lucky if he gets picked before the 5th round. He is so OVERRATED!!! He blows!!

That is what they have now -- on a good day; and it is not 'doing'. On a day when he is below average it is very 'not doing'.
Today is a new NFL -- you NEED a good QB and WRs.
But I agree do not waste high draft picks -- especially on bad QBs.

JJ isn't going to make a good NFL quarterback. Did you see him force that interception into 3 defenders near the goal line?
Justin Fields can beat anyone on any given Sunday if he can use his legs.

@Raiders22
I disagree.
He's not bad. He's not great either. But to say he has "no upside in sight" is just wrong.
Lamar and Hurts are always getting praised for their "dual threat" abilities.
Fields has that.
His abilities as a passer are not as polished as some guys in the league, but they are coming along. Dude I was there in Cleveland 2 years ago for his first start. He got sacked 9 times and the Bears had something like 93 yards of total offense. He's made improvements since, along with all the speed bumps.
Also, you have to consider that the Bears are still in fact in a rebuild. They tore everything down last year, basically starting from scratch. This is just year 2 of the GM and Coaching regime.
Honestly, if they go and draft a qb this off season, that'll set the organization back another year or 2. And that's only if they draft the right QB, which is a very hard thing to do. And if they are banking on finding the next CJ Stroud to step right in and play great, forget about it. The chances of that happening are slim to none.
Kudos to the Texans. They found a baller. But who really knew at the time though? I didn't hear too many people head over heels about Mahomes coming out of Texas Tech either, dude just popped.
The last thing I'll say is this. Just look at the entire league at the QB position. It's fuckin littered with terrible qb's. Giants, Jets, Raiders, Panthers, Patriots, Titans, Packers, Falcons...
I mean shit, I'd hate to be a fan of any of those teams and have to watch those offenses on a weekly basis.
If I'm the Bears, I stick with Fields for one more year. You draft Marvin Harrison Jr at #1. Or trade that pick and hope to get the #2 or #3 pick in return and still get MHJ there.
Currently the Bears are also picking at #4. They should look at the Penn st Left Tackle, or the best edge rusher in college whoever that is.
Just my opinion.

FWIW man, 2 college quarterbacks that aren't considered "first rd material" and will get drafted lower who I like a lot are Sam Hartman of ND and Brady Cook of Missouri.
I think they will be great value picks. Both play in pro style offenses and should transfer over well to the nfl.

exactly-I can't see how any of the 1st round QB's would be an upgrade to Fields-he hasn't had the best situation in Chicago with a crappy O-line and recent coaching changes...

My 2 cents. Fields has talent. Can he become a gym rat and get better? Only Chicago front office knows. I think he more talented than say Hurts, but Hurts works his ass off. I believe Marvin Jr. is the safest pick at 1. Then I would have a plan to be able to draft a qb with second 1st rounder if I was going to draft a qb. I'm not sold on Caleb or Maye to be honest. If they ditch Fields and Maye or Caleb is a bust it would be disastrous for front office. Similar to Jets with Darnold and Wilson.
