I dont think the Bears really know what to do. They will evaluate the QBs coming out of college and decide what system they want to go with.
Fields has improved and he trusts Moore/Kmet a lot and seem to be on the same page with them. Bears running game is lacking direction. Herbert isnt it. Maybe Foreman or Roschon?
They need another WR (Harrison would be a huge upgrade for them to that corps) and OLineman.
But as others have addressed, are they willing to shell out the big bucks to keep him? I think the next 4 games will be telling but I expect that offense to really open up to see what it can do.
If the next 4 weeks go well , I think they should keep him, draft Harrison, trade down to a QB-needy team one of their high draft picks for a buttload of lower draft picks and get their OLine in order. A strong OL will take any mediocre offense to the next level.

So Bears have the #1 and #9 pick.....Bears are set up for the next 4-5 years if they play their cards right...100% u draft a QB #1.....They will have a cheap QB rookie deal for the next 4 -5 years, which is the kicker and the key to being a playoff/SB contender if they hit a near HR on the QB,....They go all in on the next 1-2 years with Free agents etc... The reason why they cannot keep and build around fields is he will be entering his 4th year and they have to pick up his 5th year option before draft and u pretty much have to know by end of year 3 if he's your guy and definitely by year 4...Can't waste years building and developing......Fields is still an unknown and u don't want to lock him in for 20+ million on his 5th year and or have to give him a massive extension for being mediocre cause the Bears need a QB...Daniel Jones got $40 million..Derek Carr got 37.5.....

This is reality. Also why no one is going to give a late first round pick. Likely not even a 2nd round pick. My guess is 3-4th round at best. Someone has to sign his ass to a long term deal and we all know what he expects to make based on the cases you just cited.

What a lot of people don't fully understand and why u draft a QB so high if you are in a position to draft high is the price of the QB on the 2nd contract is basically 20-25% of your cap space..
Regarding Fields..it depends if another team willing to trader for him wants his 5th year picked up..If not then probably a mid round pick for him considering he will be under contract for only 1 year so teams are going to give up a 1st for someone not under team control for a more than a year and is an unknown....Also with the success of CJ stroud..pretty sure the top 3 picks will all be QB's...

Tell me the last time a team gave up a coveted first round pick for a QB (other than dumbass Cleveland for Watson or Denver for Wilson and yes they signed each immediately to a long term deal). It just doesn't happen. Plus with both failing highly unlikely to see it again. Especially in this case since Fields hasn't had the success that either Watson or Wilson had.

@Froggy123 How are u going to stick with him when he has not even thrown for 300 yards in an NFL game yet in his career..200 yards is even a struggle for him....Already his 3rd season....He is not it..U draft a QB when u are drafting that high..because u never know when u will drafting that high again and need a QB..
wow I didn’t know that that’s awful. Under 300 yards passing in every game
