I think NO MORE than six plays a week should be more than enough to accumulate percentage wins/loses/percentage points, and to cut out some of the work that is involved for yourself for running it.
Personally I think that you should send out the days current lines (From whatever source that you decide to go with for the entire season) for the weekend of games including Mondays every Friday morning and everyone should play off of that spread and have their six plays for the week sent in by midnight Saturday or Sunday morning or whatever posted deadline before first game kickoff Sunday at noon. Thursday game spread could be sent out by you come Thursday morning and if anyone decides that he or she wants to play that game the play must be submitted by kickoff to be valid.
Their are many ways to run this football pool to have less discrepancies as well as the hard work of keeping track of everyone's scores.
I'm just tossing a couple ideas out there before the pool officially starts. I know that Straight Wagers has a great basketball one that he does yearly and I also know that you have helped him out tremendously.
Anyone else have any other ways to simplify this pool and the hard work that comes with it I'm sure your insight would be appreciated and NOT overlooked.

Why do you not simply host your contest on Covers private office pools. You can set it up to a weekly pick limit and it shows EXACTLY what everyone's winning percentage is as you move through the season.
Only drawback is line changes throughout the week if that's important.

It's really the only way to go - Covers does all the work for you. If you want to incorporate things like player props you can run them on your dedicated pool forum so everything is completely transparent. I do a Super Bowl prediction in my office pool in addition to regular game picks.
