Lamar Jackson in these threads…… I wonder why?
There is a lot of unjustified venom on here for Lamar. I have always appreciated his style of play even though in a few playoff games he let me down (lost some money).
He was a man among boys against the 49ers. I see improvement in his game especially from the pocket.

He’s polarizing, and let’s be honest, the Ravens have had some epic flameouts with him at QB in the playoffs. The MVP year, they lost to the Titans, didn’t even win a playoff game. He’s 1-3 in his career in the playoffs. Big time QBs are usually judged off their playoff record. Fair, or not. That’s just what people remember. They won’t remember the 450 total yard games in week 3 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, they’ll remember the playoff wins, or losses and how the player performed in them.

Couldn’t agree more. Lamar still has to prove himself. I won’t buy in 100% until he has the Super Bowl ring. To me, mvp’s and flashy plays don’t mean much. I look at QBs for their mistakes and ability to overcome them. A few plays that stand out recently- against Jacksonville where he throws up a horrible pass to Isiah Likely into double coverage that ends in a miracle reception. That’s an interception 75% of the time. He got lucky. The safety in the 49er game where he trips over the official. Why are you even in that situation? He panicked and ran backwards 20 yards. That ball should have been out of his hands and thrown away way before that. That’s the kind of play/ decision making that costs you games. That’s the kind of things that Super Bowl winning QBs don’t do. I like Lamar but I don’t love him. He has to be smarter. He has talent but the intelligence isn’t there. Very interested to see what happens in the playoffs.

Every person you hear give an answer like above are people who said he'd never amount to anything as an nfl qb and have been moving the goal posts ever since. They are left punching at the air and coming up with new ways to try and justify they were right when they were clearly wrong. So that's the reason for all the vitriol and oh yea that other thing lol.
Jackson is still only 26. By this time in his career Manning still had not won a playoff game nor an mvp award, but didnt get 1% of the criticism from keyboard punchers and he was someone who was expected to be great opposed to the harsh criticism a "running back" gets for pretending to be a qb. At 26 manning had already thrown 100 ints while Jackson has only thrown for 45. At 26 Manning had a regular season W/L. record of 42-38. At 26 with 2 games left in the regular season Jackson has a W/L record of 57-19 fifth best in NFL history and only 2 wins away from being fourth.

I’d say it’s Josh Allen. Just like Brady, everybody hates greatness!

Lamar's got a defense this year.. Hope Hamilton stays healthy.. They drafted a lot of DBs recently and paying off..
Ravens run game is so deadly with him as there will be a defender that accounts for him..
This might be there year.. and might be bc of their defense and not him..
I watched him at Louisville win the Heisman and till this day not sold on him..
Call me a hater.. until he proves himself with a SuperBowl appearance

Comparing Lamar to Peyton is comical. Two completely different players in completely different circumstances. Peyton was a hall of fame/mvp/ Super Bowl winning qb on an AFC team in the Tom Brady era. And he had to beat Tom to get there which solidified his greatness. While Tom played most of his career with an elite defense (similar to Lamar) Peyton played most of his career with a below average defense that lacked physicality and toughness. When he had that defense for a short period, he was unstoppable. Give Peyton Manning Lamar’s running ability and you have the greatest football player who ever lived. Without it, still a Top 5 qb of all time. Take away Lamar’s running ability. What do you have?

Problem is he’s right. Traditionally mobile QBs have not aged well in this league. The cliff has been very steep for them once the mobility starts to fade. You’re seeing it with Russell Wilson right now. As soon as his mobility and escapability has faded he’s become a jag in this league. Pocket passers who don’t need to run have a longer shelf life in this league. That really isn’t even up for debate. History has told us that. For now Lamar is a great talent in this league and seemingly getting better with Todd Monken play calling. So we’ll see how he ages. Perhaps he reinvents himself as time goes on as well. Nothing is set in stone.

OK your argument about the accomplishments before the age of 26 is valid. But to think that Lamar, Jackson and Peyton Manning will ever be even close to comparison at the end of their careers is ridiculous In my opinion. it was obvious from the day that Peyton Manning entered the league that he had the talent to be a Hall of Fame quarterback, and Lamar may be also at the end of his career. But Peyton had pocket presence awareness, and a Q B, intelligence level that Lamar shows no signs of ever having. Not to mention Peyton being one of the most accurate quarterback to ever play the game. If I was down by three touchdowns in the fourth quarter of a playoff game and I had to choose between Peyton and Lamar, I don’t even think it’s a question but let’s revisit this conversation in 5 to 10 years.

The Lamar vs Manning comparison is laughable. Lamar is inconsistant but awesome when he's on. Peyton,Brady,Montana,Brees etc are on another level.

Several years in a row Peyton lost in the playoffs and his career playoff record was 14 - 13. He was 30 years old when he won his first Superbowl with the Colts.

Lmao Let's be real he's the most criticized because he's the darkest color of them all playin the QB position. He's from Hollywood Florida and doesn't talk white enough for most people. It's simple logic

I don’t hate on Lamar. I think the guy is super talented and he’s been very profitable to bet on this season. My main concern with him is when he gets in the playoffs and has a game where his defense doesn’t come up with four interceptions. And in that same game, should he throw the ill-advised pass that I talked about in the Jacksonville game. Or have the stupid run backwards for 20 yards trip over the ref and get a safety play all in the same game, then the blame will all be on him. People will criticize him for making poor decisions. Again the conversation will be had about his intelligence level. And before you know it, this MVP caliber quarterback will have cost his team a trip to the Super Bowl. And all those flashy running around unscripted plays will be for nothing. Maybe this never happens, but if it does, don’t be surprised.

The league does not like a black QB to be successful. If deion Sanders has a black son playing QB for Colorado, he too will not make the cut.
Any other positions will be good for black people as they are good at running, shooting and stealing like the NBA.
Don't hate me. Hate the technique
And im just goofing around. Lamar for MVP this year. He deserves that much.

You are probably looking at #'s. As a Ravens fan, watching every game, they probably wouldn't have half the wins without him starting

Could Lamar take a crappy team to a higher level based only on his skills? I do not think so. To me the quality of the player is not because the overall team is great but you see so many QB's who when the team was average or poor were average themselves, like Elway where he accomplished nothing until they shored up the defense and then at the twilight of his career he finally won. A player like Lamar has not taken a average or poor team to a higher level and I would say he has been on good to great teams every single season and has no results to go with it. Even a crappy QB like Eli Manning got the job done with a good team. I am not convinced on Lamar, I do not like floater style QB passers who rely on running and creating out of the pocket. Once a defense figures out to beat him just to force him in the pocket his elite skills go away, much like Kyler Murray and others.
Not many elite QB's in the league now, most will not be able to stay in the pocket, take numerous hits and deliver that timing based pass by reading and beating a defense, its a very different mindset being a thinking QB versus a pocket break down improvising one.
I also am not convinced the HC will handle the playoffs, Harbaugh seems to freeze up when the heat is on in the playoffs.
