Hey guys and Achilles especially, got a question for you.
So I have Miami at 12 as I posted this as one of my plays last week, BUT for those of you who have not bet on this yet, what is your opinion on waiting (for those that have access) for live betting as the chances of the Pats scoring first are pretty solid.
Think you can get Miami +14-15.
No guarantees, but what do you think?

So you think it will be a mirror image of last nites game then? The fave jumps out to an early lead and then Miami comes back? Gutsy. You can do it another way too: if Miami scores first and you feel the Pats win, you can hop on the Pats. Tough call bud.

I think you're over thinking this. The Patriots have one goal tonight: get to Miami, get a W, and prepare for a dance with the Steelers. Do you really think they want to go all out against an opponent who isn't going anywhere?

Also, I just heard on a sports channel that Jay Cutler has played the MOST number of games on MNF and his record is something like 11-5.

For next week NE@Pitt

Look ahead line was Pitt -2.5

It opened NE -1.5
Then moved to NE -2.5
Now it's off the board, most likely since the Pats play tonight.

Come to Covers for free picks   I use Covers for stats and the match up page i make my own bets .  i don't need to make posts to get attention

I have a pretty strong stomach but I'm scared to bet this game. Everything in my experience including my gut is saying Patriots by 15-20. 

I'm thinking the same as other people like how is Miami going to score touchdowns?

How are they going to stop the offence? 

I know Pats have tons of injuries on offence but I heard on ESPN that the back ups are no slouches. Maybe someone can speak more about the Pats back ups. I like under if anything.

Me? Overthinking this? Haaaaa. Brotha, you must not know me then. First, as stated above, this is a discussion thread. Second, why do you feel that the Patriots need to go " all out" here to cover? I'm confused. Am I missing something? Question for you: what's smarter? Tip toe around and do just enough to win or just show up with the mentality that they will dominate for 60 minutes? When do injuries occur most? When you are timid or when you are the aggressor? Rhetorical question so no need to answer. As for "overthinking" things, I'm doing pretty well with that mentality. You? I've never seen a play or writeup. The "11-5 or something" record thingy that you just threw at me about jay cutler....I know jay very well. I love in Chicago and watched him single handedky f@ck up a great team.

And I'd like to point out that the last time these two teams met, it was Matt Moore under center for the Dolphins.

Trying to look at it from a matchup angle

Pats are weak against the run and Dolphins cannot absolutely not get into a shootout with Brady. Dolphins need to establish the run. They did not do their job last meeting but it could also possibly be because they were down by alot and couldnt really run the ball. Dolphins have to set the tone early and... they cannot turn over the ball. Pats defense has been taking advantage and making plays off turnovers as of late. 

The Pats are beatable imo and its because teams dont run the ball down their throats and play nasty solid defense. They get intimidated by Brady too easily. I think the Chiefs and Panthers win against Pats show the Pats are not as invincible as their record suggest and i think are just fortunate to play some weak teams the past 2 months. The competition needs to take a look at the past Broncos and Ravens teams to see how to get it done against Brady

Everything you just said is exactly why I will be fading them in the playoffs. When you say that the Dolphins have to take care of the ball, I agree but let's not forget who their qb is brotha. I am at odds with this game because with ALL THE MONEY ON THE PATS TONITE and with people chasing because of Pitt not covering last nite, do the Pats continue their dominance or is there a late cover by the Dolphins? It's the question that needs to be asked....

I love the UNDER 48.5 in this matchup........This is a tough game to pick a side - line about right where it should be as I see a NE win by 7-14............I think both teams will be trying to establish the run...Miami will put up a fight here at home but the obvious difference that will decide the outcome is QB play and I see NE keeping some long drives alive on 3rd downs with Brady.

Great write up Achilles - gets me thinking. here's my 2 cents

Mia is still technically in the playoff hunt so they will be playing hard for themselves and against the SB champs.

No Gronk tonight is a big deal, he scored 2 of Brady's 4 TD's last game and NE won 35-17 vs Matt Moore at home. they get Hogan back tonight, but what % and how much rust. I see NE going with the quick check downs to the RB's and cooks/Amendola.

Cutler looked better vs Broncos last week and I expect them to play NE close tonight. Mia D is also underrated and can still hold teams close. Mia D gives up 23 points 314 yards per game while NE gives up 17 points 346 yards per game

Seems like taking the points is the right side, but must be careful with the ball and turnovers.

Others have said it but to repeat, the Pats only care about the W not covering the game - double digits is too many for a divisional rival in their building. 

I like Miami to keep it close 24-20 NE wins

When have the Patriots shown to be the type of team to do just enough to win games? They have been double digit faves this year and they've covered. They are ego maniacs. They don't "play the game within the game" the way the Steelers and Seahawks do. They are machine-like. I understand the idea that they want to be healthy and ready for next week but if there were ever a time to be cautious thinking that this is a "just get me through it" type game, this is the time. What's holding me back and it's ALWAYS a love variable especially at this time of year and in primetime games is the fact that ALL THE MONEY IS ON THE PATS tonite. I normally don't like riding with the sheep at this time of year so it definitely weighs on my mind

Hey I meant no offense to you. Maybe "overthinking" was not the best term. Was only trying to help clear your mind. I'm no expert at reading line movements but it does seem a little fishy (no pun intended).

As a die hard Pats fan, I rarely bet on or against them, but I already locked in Dolphins +11. Before we get into "the script" which I'm not buying into, let's look at this game. The last time these 2 teams met, NE covered the -16 at home and NE spotted MIA 7 on a fumble returned for a TD. But this game is different, the Dolphins are still in the hunt for a playoff spot (albeit a long shot) and they're gonna give NE their best. They can't compete in a shootout and need to control the LOS, the clock and tempo. Drake has ran the ball better in 3 games than Ajayi had all year from them, and the one weakness in NE's defense is their run defense that never really matters. Most teams have to abandon the run game when playing from behind, or because in order to beat NE, you need to score 30+ and running the ball 30 times won't yield anyone 30 points.

Brady only got sacked once but was hit 8 times, MIA has a solid front 7 and they can create pressure with just 4 linemen. A lot of the success the offense has stems off of Gronk and what he demands. Last year was the first NE won without Gronk, but they had Edleman. NE don't cover a lot of DD spreads period, not even at home. You don't get style points for margin of victory in the NFL, Belichick doesn't care about yards for per game, yards against per game, he cares about points and a W is a W. There is no one better than Belichick at playing one game at a time and not getting caught looking ahead, but that doesn't mean he's not looking ahead. The two aren't mutually exclusive, it's only a problem if you let it effect you negatively. You, I, Belichick, Brady, and everyone knows, that as of 2 weeks ago the only competitive game that matters for either NE or PITT is the game against each other. Which is why I expect the Pats to go into MIA, grind out a win, limit the potential for injury and focus on PITT, since they have 1 less day to prepare.

In fact you made perfect sense of the situation last Monday night with the Steelers and Bungles and that it wasn't a MUST win for PITT because they could afford to lose 1 game as long as they took care of business against NE, which totally applies here to NE. I don't think NE loses this game against MIA, but it's not that important to them. Health is the most important thing to them. Last time NE played MIA they lost too many guys and their defense can't afford to lose any more players. No Kyle Van Noy, no Trey Flowers, no Gronk, division game, on the road, give me the points.

As far as "the script" goes, that's where you're over thinking. Before PITT's game last night, next weeks game opened at NE - 1.5 and moved to - 2.5. Nothing PITT coulda done and NE could do was going to drastically effect that besides injury. I mean at the end of the day, it's MIA, big deal. If they stuggle, it's not moving the line to PITT - 1 especially since PITT struggled against BALT. So much money on NE tonight and the line hasn't moved.

GL with whatever side you're on tonight. Hope you're with me on the Dolphins and you continue you're primetime streak.

Nothing Pitt could have done? That's where you are wrong amigo. If they blow the ravens out last nite and don't play an awful second half, that line is definitely not where it is today chief. The perception of them struggling is gone and the public is a believer.

 I'm overthinking? With that comment above, you need to think. Correct me if I'm wrong bud but didn't the pats have injuries the last two weeks? Did they cover? Do you think going up to buffalo the Patriots said hey, this is a tough place to play so let's just take it easy? It's the Patriots. This is all about Patriots tonite not the Dolphins. We just gotta figure out what mentality they will be in for this one. I'm sure the points make one feel all warm and fuzzy.....oh decisions, decisions.....

I can understand you defending yourself against Achilles, after all, he has little patience with posters that can't actually have a discourse with him.  If you can't stand up to him, or, verbally spar with him over you're points, he has little time to waste on you.

You are correct. I have no patience for jagoffs like Steinway. 8 out of 10 on here are purely here with no purpose other than do what this kid is doing here. I could care less what someone's record is but if you supply or offer one....I can at least respect that. As for my attitude and approach on this site, I've had a ton of trolls over the last few years that go out of their way to do what's being done above by that clown. If I was a sh@tty capper do you think I'd have those trolls? I get why it's being done but it's so pathetic that people like this exist in here.
