TB, ST Louis & Houston gift wrapped 3 wins for Seattle this season.. They weren't the best team in the NFL in my eyes.. Matt Schuabs stupid pick 6 with a TD lead with 2 mins left is the reason why this game is in Seattle.. The Niners have been far more impressive the last 8 games.. Let's not forget That week 2 SF loss at Seattle was 17 games ago for Kaepernick.. He's a much improved and confident qb this time around.. 17 games later..

Who are you on for AFC Title game? Looks like Sharps on Broncos and Squares on Pats. I will sit this out as I am a huge Patriots fan and will be rooting for them.

Big shot, do you really think it was "squares" who moved that line from -6 to -4 in a few hours directly after AFC game Sunday evening? I'm not arguing or taking a side with that question, I just don't follow those angles(public/sharps, etc) and that's a lot of movement IMO on a Sunday night.

Both teams pretty evenly matched overall. A chess game is what I predict by Harbaugh and Carroll. Should be a real tense game and penalties, turnovers, special teams, and which kicker shows up is what it will come down too. Sherman should take away 1 receiver for Seattle but at the same time, the Hawks receiving core doesn't pump fear into the Niners secondary either. Yup, sharps bet numbers not sides...they hit the Pats at +6.5/7 and the Broncos at -4/-4.5 (lowest point). Squares have the Broncos -6 and the Pats +4.5.

I've actually been riding the SF train for the past 10 weeks now and they've been very good to me. Discounting that terrible penalty on Brooks against NO and they should be 14-1 their last 15 games. GB and CAR were so easy I dropped 5k on the GB ML and then doubled down on SF +1.5--couldn't believe SF was a dog last week. I have not been following SEA as much due to the large lines and low ML payouts. But the fact is, SEA is unbeatable at home. Yea I know the Cards left with a W, but Seattle tried to sleepwalk through that one and it came back to bite them in the a ss. You can be damn sure the Seahawks won't be sleepwalking through a game against the Niners and a trip to the SB.
While nothing is ever 100%, facts are facts. Kaep and Wilson are a wash. Niners have the better receivers in Davis Crab and Boldin. Lynch is better than gore, but you have to expect the Niners to load up to prevent Beastquake from breaking out. I'd say the defensive line is a wash. The Smith boys have been doing their thing and Bowman and Brooks have played great. But that Legion of Boom is no joke. Its a wash at the line, but SEA has the advantage at the CB and thats where they get you. No matter how good your receivers are, Seattle's defense will prevent you from doing whatever you want to do. Haven't been on here in probably close to a year. Have time during the holidays and thought I'd throw some thoughts out on this group.
I've written about this countless times the past few years around playoff time on this board, but every year when a team props themselves up and gets "hot" during the playoffs that IMO can mostly be attributed to the fact that they got healthy and got key players back. Ravens, Giants, Packers are just some recent examples of teams that have won the SB, not by morphing into a different team, but simply by getting healthy and getting key players back in key positions. Remember the first game of the playoffs last season was the first game Ray Lewis, Terrell Suggs, and Ed Reed played together. Baltimore also got healthy on the o-line, made major changes there, and were a completely different team there.
San Francisco is shaping up quite nicely to be that team this season. They were terrible earlier in the year - SB hangover, injuries, who knows - but have gotten better month by month. They also had KEY injuries this season and they will have those guys back and healthy for the playoffs. Crabtree coming back (and looking good) is a MASSIVE upgrade to this offense. He's Kap's favorite target and let's Boldin transition to the #2 WR - a roll he is much better suited for. That's another thing I've written about; so many times when key players come back for these teams they don't just boost the team with their own play, but they allow players to go back into roles they are more comfortable with. Manningham has also returned for this team, and while he hasn't done a lot so far, he's still a veteran WR who has a knack for making plays in the playoffs and is a sneaky good #3 option. Suddenly a pass game with Davis, Crabtree, Boldin, and Manningham looks pretty darn good.
SF has also had their best two offensive linemen (arguably two of the Top 10 in the NFL) hobbled this year. Both guys should be healthy for the playoffs. Same story on defense as Aldon Smith is back and over his early season issues. Willis has also missed time this season with injuries and did not look like himself for a couple games when he came back. He's now healthy. SF also has a healthy Justin Smith this season - remember he was injured last year.
This team seems to be under the radar for some reason. Their defense has only given up about 14 PPG since Week 3 and they look very strong. The offense will only get better as Crabtree, Manningham, and the o-linemen get back in the groove. One loss with FB Bruce Miller, tough, but survivable.
This group is about as experienced as they come too and have the best head coach in the game. They won't blink twice at having to run the table on the road in January. Everything seems to be coming together for them.
Looks like they will be a wildcard. The potential GB/CHI/DAL/PHI opponent they will face in round 1 doesn't scare anyone. Three of those teams are trash and can't stop a hay bale. Philly is sneaky good, but very, very young and untested; both players and coaches. Round 2 would offer SEA/NO/CAR. All three teams have beaten SF (though not the healthy version) but all can be beat. The Saints are very soft. SF almost beat them in the dome earlier and may have despite one of the more dubious calls of the year. NO has the stats, but I've watched this team numerous times and they just don't have the x-factor. Carolina is SF lite. Good team, but would you trust them in their first playoff game together being expected to win at home against SF? I wouldn't. They are missing a WR too and who knows what their pass game will look like with Smith hobbled. SEA is obviously excellent, but they are not unbeatable. They've had their moments recently against good defenses and they have quietly really missed Sidney Rice. Harvin coming back may not be a huge boost as he's really never even had meaningful snaps in this offense. The Hawks offense can stall at times and it's certainly a possibility against SF's D. If SF makes it out of the NFC they won't face a tough team in the SB. The AFC is really bad. Broncos appear the best, but just suffered a huge blow losing Miller. That makes an already very questionable defense that much worse. Manning will have to carry the load. Can he be trusted in potentially bad weather against an elite D?

I agree with everything you said about the 49ers. They are playing the best at the right time as I predicted. The 49ers are tough at every position. I think they are more then ready to take it all the way this year and that's what I believe will happen. I got 150$ down on the 49ers at 10-1 and I got similar odds on the proposition for SB matchup with SF vs Denver or SF vs New England. I like my chances. GO NINERS!!!

Great stats. Andy Frisco road sked does not matter this time of year. Although zig zag thru the country is tiring THIS IS THE PLAYOFFS!!!!!. To compare Serpico stats, Seattle defense was actually better last year. This team can be run on and Frisco D is playing lights out. Seattle goes as far as Lynch goes. If Im game planning for seahawks I would do everything in my power to take lynch out of formula. Make Wilson beat you with that sub par reciever core. Niners have Crabtree with 5 games under his belt now, been getting stronger with each game, but I believe the difference here is Boldin. Niners have legitimate #2 reciever. I will take my chances with the streaking team, statistically hot, vs Seattle team that actually is trending downward. Im opening myself up to be abused for this post but I believe that Seattle has all the pressure vs a team that already won an nfc championship game and probably playing its best football under Harbaugh.

I hope I'm wrong, but I do not think SF is going to win this game. I made the mistake of continuing the rollover too early without digging into the game.
Green Bay and Carolina were great matchups for SF. The Niners were the better team in those games and they'd be the better team in the Super Bowl. Too bad Seattle is in the way. I think the Hawks are better. They have the better defense and QB IMO and that is a substantial part of winning the battle in playoff football games. I'm not really a "spot" bettor in the playoffs, but fact is this is not a good one for SF. They have logged tens of thousands of miles in the last month while Seattle has logged zero. SF's last 4 weeks have been an emotional close to Candlestick in a game that they could have lost if not for a Pick 6. That game took a lot of energy to clinch that playoff spot. Then they played a tough ARZ team on the road. Went to GB in a ice bowl and played another tough game. Then were in a very physical game last week. If it's ever going to catch up to them then it is in this situation against the fresher and better team.
SF does not turn the ball over often, but they've been a bit fortunate with that lately. Kaepernick should have some INT on his record but they've been dropped. SF only has two turnovers over the last 5 games and they've recovered the ball every time they've fumbled. Unsustainable turnover luck and IF that's going to catch up to them then it will be right here against a super elite defense that forces a million turnovers.
Those two things are what IMO make this a bad "spot". Things have a funny way of catching up to teams when they are on the road playing great teams.

No action for me on the AFC game. I'd never in a million years lay points against Belichick and Brady like this. Waaaay too much respect for those guys to do that.
New England is way down from where they've been in the past. The numbers may say otherwise, but I've watched this team a lot this season and they are not a Super Bowl caliber team. The thing is this isn't that terrible of a matchup for them. They can defend the pass, and even if he's not as good as years past Brady can still move the football against a weak pass D. Everyone expects NE to run the ball, but Belichick always attacks the other teams weakness. I think Brady is going to throw it a ton today until this patchwork secondary proves they can do anything.
All that considered, I think Denver moves the football well here. It sets up well for them. It's a bit of a legacy game for Manning and he has his full arsenal at his disposal. There won't be a cloud in the sky, a breath of wind, and temps in the 60's. He has the best team he's ever had against NE in a playoff game. If he can't get it done here at home than it will be a supreme disappointment.

No action for me on the AFC game. I'd never in a million years lay points against Belichick and Brady like this. Waaaay too much respect for those guys to do that.
New England is way down from where they've been in the past. The numbers may say otherwise, but I've watched this team a lot this season and they are not a Super Bowl caliber team. The thing is this isn't that terrible of a matchup for them. They can defend the pass, and even if he's not as good as years past Brady can still move the football against a weak pass D. Everyone expects NE to run the ball, but Belichick always attacks the other teams weakness. I think Brady is going to throw it a ton today until this patchwork secondary proves they can do anything.

My opinion this will be a FG game and under the total (57). The Pats defensive pressure has been impressive over the past month...more turnovers. Denver defense is excellent too. Both teams want the opposing QBs on the sidelines. Run game and 5 yard receptions is the Pats game.....clock control. Less scoring and more 6 to 8 minute drives.
Anyway, 27-24 game is my opinion.
