Argumentative comments on both sides, interesting read
I’m surprised that so many people are surprised by who the favorite is. Have any of you surprised folks done a player for player analysis of both teams?
It shouldn’t come as a surprise that the Chiefs could be an underdog. Recency bias is what seems to shape the opinion of many. Did you ever consider a season long evaluation of both teams? First half of season compared to second half? Factoring in injuries for each game and its result? Are the surprised folks aware that Mahomes has gotten his ass handed to him in a Super Bowl before?

Another factor to consider in this specific matchup/line
The amount of 49ers futures in play
I am guessing all books have looked at their handle for that. And how much money they have amongst the other 30 teams futures to offset if the 49ers do win ( or if cheifs win..but not sure as many would have bet kn b2b super bowls for chiefs and as its a rare accomplishment
But from what I have read is 49ers had the largest amount of futures bets placed.
Interesting enough the public typically likes a favorite....
But maybe books thought public would back mahomes over Purdy on neutral field
Dunno how heavily they weighed the 49ers futures but any smart business would have factored the numbers in

Sunk cost fallacy
Sunk cost fallacy
Why is it sunk cost if books have huge exposure to sf futures and set a line that maybe gets a little extra wagers on kc in order to even out that exposure? Seems reasonable to me.

Ya I doubt they would link the 2 events...although I can't say for sure...would depend if they have a large liability on 49ers compared to previous futures years markets
On a side note I wonder if chiefs were pre-season faves last year
And how often the pre-season favorite makes the super bowl

The opening line is based on datasheet of year long.
Throw all datasheet into the window. This is not regular season week.
This is playoff this is superbowl.
KC is muscling up the right time ending the season and continuing their momentum into the playoff.
I can tell you that both teams have MVP player there but Just one team will have a future hall of fame.
