Revenge is a big factor, but Falcons even at 2-6 are still alive in the NFC South. The Falcons are also rested and looking for redemption from blowing that game in London where they had a very good Lions team beat. And finally, even if it was in Atlanta, if you can beat a team 56-14, you must have some significant match-up advantages.
I agree that the Bucs will play hard and not get beat by much, but the Falcons are highly motivated also. That is the difference in this one.
Josh McCown is not much of an upgrade from Mick Glennon and Vincent Jackson is hurting. Mike Evans is a beast, though.
I got Atlanta -1.5.

At 2-6 and 1-7, who really is 'alive' and who isn't? Win one game and have the Saints lose a very losable game today and the Bucs are in the same spot the Falcons are in right now.
Really, these teams know it's likely over. I don't know the record for 2-6 teams making the playoffs but I'll guarantee it's a very low number with talented teams decimated by injuries getting healthy and making a run comprising some of that group (i.e. not the Falcons).
The Falcons were a money burner last year losing in their own building to even Geno and the Jets (who was a rookie and even worse than he is now).
This year? Looks like more of the same as the public continues to give them support and get screwed, almost blowing a cover last week that would have been one of the biggest backdoors in NFL history (well they managed to lose the game SU for all ATL ML bettors though).
I know McCown is not an upgrade. I stated as such in the OP
I'm not sure where you found ATL -1.5 if you didn't buy it down and pay some significant juice. I never saw that line anywhere. GL.

scal im actually on atlanta. at this point i dont trust luvy with the simple act of revenge. i thought for sure you were gonna do a writeup for the lakers tonight. good luck. im only on atlanta small. mike smith another fool has a great record off a bye.
BB,
The lakers are an AUTOMATIC play tonight. If I have time to write it up, I will.
As far as this game and your distrust of Lovie, do you trust Mike Smith more having almost blown one of the biggest covers in NFL history or trust him in general?
If you trust Matty Ice, you know the defense is awful and will give back everything he gives.
I have profited off the Bucs this year and when this game rolled around I looked for more than just revenge and found it (3-2 really 4-1 ATS in last three) including the win over Pitt and the near win over the Saints away...
And then add the revenge? This is a play for me all the way.
Then add the psychological edge with the acknowledgement of the blowout with the quotes above (which there are more of of course), and yes, this is definitely a play.
Also, I know you pointed out the Grizz/Thunder matchup in last year's thread for revenge and once again, when a team doesn't face the core of the lineup that knocked them out, the revenge shrivels which is why you likely didn't comment on that game.
If Durant and West would have played I would have pounded Memphis.
Same thing happened in Pacers/Wiz. Wiz really didn't give it their all in that first 'revenge' game because none of that lineup was the one that knocked them out last year.
The lesson: Two good spots to make money off last year's losses went away because of massive injuries to starting lineups that would have motived the other side.

Verner---their best corner---is out. No depth at that position either from what I can tell. Not a good situation vs ATL. That's the biggest thing that keeps me from going TB. That and two of their best players are pretty banged up (David, Jackson). Plus ATL off the bye.

Listen, the Jets have NO CORNERS WHATSOEVER (well one who has 5 career starts and is really a converted safety and a practice squad signee) and they are only 3.5 pt dogs to a team that is MUCH better than ATL (and Tampa is about the same as the Jets in terms of overall talent, probably better right now).
In that light, 3 pts here is a bargain for TB.
