The hold % of a sport book is a mere fraction of slots, money wheels, and table games. Casinos only have sports books because they know if they reallocate that space to more profitable areas of gaming they will lose patronage to the casino next door. And if someone goes next door to get his sports bet in, he may just stay for a while and play table games there, or have dinner there, or stay there on his next trip. Casinos don't want that, so they have their own books. The only time they like books is Super Bowl time because of the extra rev it brings in (they do not like March Madness because of the type of people it brings in.)
Casino management considers sports books a waste of what would otherwise be valuable space, a loss-leader almost.
Not opinion. I've been in the meetings, many times.
A person has to be totally clueless to believe Vegas fixes games. To say they do, shows a staggering ignorance of: the typical handle at a sports book as a % of annual revenue at a casino/hotel, and the fear these businesses have of the Nevada Gaming Commission.
My favorite example. True story...
A guy is screaming at one of my ticket writers. *He had a $200 prop bet, Strahan Over 3' tackles.
Strahan had 3, when Head Coach Coughlin pulls him out late in the fourth quarter.
The bettor swears that Strahan did not play the last series because we didn't want him to get a fourth tackle to make his ticket a winner. He actually accused us of having Strahan taken out of the game.
I asked, "So, let me get this straight. You think that we have Tom Coughlin's personal cell phone number. And we called him. And he answered, DURING the Super Bowl, and we told him to pull Strahan, and he did, all so that you wouldn't be able to collect on a $200.00 bet. Is that correct?"
And he looked at me, straight-faced, and said, "Yes." This fool actually believed it. He kept making a scene demanding a refund, so security removed him from the property. They should have taken him to the insane asylum (or here, he'd fit right in with most posters here.)

Stu will get this, but the tin hats? No chance.

The burden of proof lies with someone who is making a claim, and is not upon anyone else to disprove. The inability, or disinclination, to disprove a claim does not render that claim valid, nor give it any credence whatsoever. However it is important to note that we can never be certain of anything, and so we must assign value to any claim based on the available evidence, and to dismiss something on the basis that it hasn't been proven beyond all doubt is also fallacious reasoning. You sound like someone as do others in this forum who has fallen victim to the current politics of the day. The nation is in desperate need of lessons in critical thinking.

______________
That's bull____ legalese.
That is in fact one of the dumbest anti logic phrases ever uttered.
The is no burden of proof. Either something is true or it isn't. Lawyers prove things that are the opposite of truth every day.
What that phrase means is. You allow yourself to believe a lie that you've never even proven real or true to yourself. And will keep believing it till someone changes your mind.
You believe in the myth of authority. That they would never lie to you..

The analogy I use is lumber yards. Lumber yards don't make a ton of money on lumber. The margins kinda suck. High volume shrinkage due to damage, ect. And that shit takes up a ton of space. Do you where they do make a ton of money? Nails. Screws. Nuts and bolts. Great margins and they sell that shit by the ton. They'd much rather just not having to carry lumber. They'd much rather sell tool kits to weekend warriors but they have to carry it. They are lumber yards.
There's a ton of money in sports wagering, don't get me wrong. Especially when you consider off shores and illegals but what guys fail to realize, especially the guys that talk about "Vegas", they fail to realize that sports wagering brings in the smallest slice of any game of chance in the house on top of having the lowest house advantage. That "Vegas" makes it's money in slot machines, then table games. And on $30 cocktails in clubs with $100 cover charges. That the whole system, the point spreads, the juice, is really just the house trying to split it's action so they can collect their lil bit off the top and keep it moving. You think they're going to risk toppling their diamond castles to rig some games? The people who talk about scripts always seem to be the guys that know the least about the gaming industry, know the least about sports. They talk about it all being just entertainment, they know nothing about the entertainment industry. They talk about how much money there is to be made but they know nothing about the revenue structure of the NFL, and the networks and Oh, by the way, they talk about it all being scripted but they never address that elephant in the room. If this is really the case then why do so many of the scripts fucking suck??!! GTFO "Oh, the players all do what they're told. They're all company men." What, except when they're tanking ratings and affecting revenue with protest? Is that scripted too. That storyline didn't test well.
TIME TO BRING BACK THE OBAMA CAGES!

You didn't say anything here. You didn't prove anything. Who said vegas unto itself does anything? Who said they were causing the outcome?
Sports betting makes billions. It's not some small sidenote at a casino. It's world wide.
Lol at saying "they know nothing about entertainment Industry. It's easy to understand fabrication, sensationalism and propaganda. You don't need to be in the biz. Don't need to know shit about sports either to see it's fake and contrived.
You simply don't want to challenge your cognitive dissonance.
What's the most absurd is gamblers trying to defend gambling as if it's some pure entity. That shows that with all your stat crunching and odds etc . You are the one who truly knows nothing about sports or gambling. You're incredibly superficial, shallow and one dimensionsuonal, boxed in, in your thinking and perception.
