Lost my Kings & Rags parlay but still have Kings RL in play
JUST A COUPLE THOUGHTS
I know this was a short week so our sample size isn't very large but this was just a few things I thought this week when watching games. Feel free to put in your input but these were just things I wanted to address.
1 - The Penguins are going to make a deep run in the playoffs this season. I know I know laugh it up but I really think that the players were running that team last year and they just didn't give a shiit. This is why some days you would see them play their butts off and other times they were just super sloppy. I think the coaching change is going to be good for them and plus with all the skill on that team they will always be a contender. Who's going to compete with them...Philly? No I don't see it. Rangers? No I still think things just happened to fall into place for the Rangers last season and that is why they got so far but that is a different story. Boston? Yes but skill wise the Penguins match up well with the Bruins. Long season so we have a long way to go I'm just saying I think with the new coach and everything the team will be a lot different.
2 - Alex Stalock at some point will be the starting goalie for the Sharks. The kid is good and I think eventually with this "youth movement" the Sharks are starting they will move to him and either try to trade Niemi or have him be the #2. Niemi has had his chances to win a Cup with the Sharks and while it's not entirely all his fault he hasn't been successful. Much like how they say Couture is the future of the franchise I think Alex with be their future goalie. Maybe the Sharks won't collapse when they get into the playoffs this year behind him. Who knows...I guess we have 80 more games to watch before we find out.
3 - The Minnesota Wild will be a SC contender this year. All they have to do is figure out their goal tending situation and they will be good. As other teams in the West get all the press and coverage this team quietly has built a great team. Parise, Vanek, Pominville, Brodin, Suter, Nino, Granlund and Coyle. Plenty of skill. Year by year they have continued to get better and better and I think beating Colorado in the 1st round last year was good experience for them. They will look to build off that and make a deeper push this year.
4 - The Western Conference is still the cream of the crop. I can think of about 7 teams right now who can contend for the Cup. Hawks, Blues, Kings, Sharks, Ducks, Canucks, Wild, Stars oops that's 8. Teams in the East that can contend? Bruins, Pens, Bolts, Montreal and Wings. Do we think the Cup stays in the West this year or does somebody in the East step up and take it? Bruins and Pens seem like the two biggest contenders but I will say Hawks vs Pens and Hawks in 6...(homer alert)
5 - Short and sweet the shootout still sucks. They need to do something different maybe play 10 minutes of 4 on 4 or something but I still hate the shootout. Speaking of things I hate...the NHL's lack of emphasis on trying to build the sport. Friday ONE LOUSY GAME and Saturday there were 15!! Are you kidding me? Competing with college football why not split it half and half and play a bunch of games on Friday as well. It's ridiculous how the NHL just seems like it's okay with being the 4th or 5th most watched sport. I think they should make it a point to schedule more games in prime time, but I guess there are content with not increasing in popularity
MY TOP 5
1 - Hawks
2 - Pens
3 - Sharks
4 - Montreal
5 - Minnesota
MONDAY PLAYS
Ducks PL +185 1U
Habs +120 1U
Avs +155 1U

Ok , verrrrry early yet BUT I agree with the pens statement . I think they are the only team to watch out for in the east RIGHT NOW ....west will win it too many very good teams . I think MINNESOTA is a good team with lots of character but are not there yet. Back to the east , i like MONTREAL more than Boston this year . I just do . I love betting on them and I already bet against Boston at home and cashed(Washington) . Once TAMPA gets going and I believe they will they will do well and COULD cause a stir in playoffs . I never liked going along with everyone against niemi , he has had bad games but some very good ones also . Guess what THATS WHAT GOALIES DO . There are few goalies that don't do that . Even quick looked like shitt here and there. I could go on and on about the west , but I don't know who will come out yet . Your Hawks are always a good bet and are still my favorite team to watch. I expect more from Dallas the. We've seen in these first few , but they are pretty deep and could cause a ruckus .
I am on ducks -1.5 with you , didn't look at night games . May play Boston game to go to o.t. I seem them winning 3-2 in shootout .
PS - how about betting the over in every game ?! Looks good so far

Bettman has been trying to crack the American tv market for years with poor results, you don't remember their short lived NHL of Fox experiment with the red comet puck? That being said they've expanded coverage up here via sportsnet, had a choice of 5 games on the 4:00 games last night. btw Hawks & Pens are frauds.

that's right, Sid, Gino & Letang will be on the IR in a few months per usual, Fleury's season will go into the toilet resulting in trading a few spare parts for Ryan Miller, the Canucks will retain some of his salary per usual

I agree with the Wild 100% i believe they scored 9 goals in 2 games!! there goalie situation is what has to be worked on and they will be a hell of a team and something to look out in the west

you guys were right, Kings were NOT going to lose three straight to start the season. "Henery Hawk" Sutter needs to give Martin Jones more starts. kid would be #1 most teams

like Ducks puckline and Habs moneyline, HookEm.

They need to put Quick on a short leash - that guy - it's feast or famine. Either he is going to shut a team out or he gives up 5 goals. Should pull Quick after 2 goals and put this stud in.

These should be on the table at the owners meetings:
10 mins - 4on4
5 mins - 3on3
5 mins of 4on4 is just not cutting it

Lol at canucks contending. They have played the flames and oilers not close to elite teams. If the sedins and vrbata can dominate against other top tier teams then there may be a chance but depth wise i dont see the canucks making a run. I think they will battle for the 7th or 8th seed. Still early but if sedins can keep it up id be one happy nucks fan.

Nice play on the Kings Hook. I agree with all the teams above but think the Devils have had a nice start to their season as well. They look to be playing better hockey then Boston..at least on offense at the moment. Couldn't understand why they only had one game on Friday as well. Makes no sense in trying to compete with the 20+ college games. Shootouts also suck and yeah they should go to a 4-4 and possibly a 3-3 before a shootout. Best of luck tonight!

Good post. Agree with most of your points with the exception of Vancouver. I think they are a good regular season team, but just don't have the grit for playoffs.
Boston will be on the decline. They are relaying on too many younger players on their defense coupled with a much older, slower, Chara.
Pens do look good. Expect the Pens in the finals with the Hawks or Blues.
Great job overall on the weekend.
Have the Ducks PL today too. Grabbed it at +286 last night. Good luck!

You Left The Rangers out of the East? Do not forget about this highly skilled team. Nash Train is Rolling, if he can stay Healthy he is one of the best on the Ice. A Big Versatile Player like a Jammie Benn surrounded by talent. A lot of young Skilled players to compliment this team. King Henrick in Net will come alive when the make the playoffs.
Take a look at Columbus this season also, This team is for Real!
And another team not to take lightly will be the NY Islanders? I know I know, they do get over that Hump this season and make the playoffs. This team on paper is kind of assembled like the Blues I think.
When it comes down to it though Lord Stanley this year I'm going out on a Ledge and saying:
Minnesota verse N.Y. Rangers?
RNR
