Is the India cricket team the most overated......

Major sporting team on the planet?

They do very little outside of the subcontinent and often get embarrased. A champion wins in all conditions in their sport.

Far from the most overrated but definitely lacking in terms of making a mark outside of their home conditions. Although until their debacle in England late last year I think their record away from India had actually been reasonably impressive over the past couple of years.  

They've disappointed on this tour thus far but on their two most recent trips to Australia they've been pretty feisty and had the better of a large portion of both series (I think both series were drawn?). 

They're a mystery this time round though. I really thought Ishant Sharma would be one of the best fast bowlers in the world by now after what he showed out here last time. But he looks a shell of the bowler he was despite three more years of experience. I'd have liked to have seen Sreesanth out here again as he has a bit of attitude. 

In the batting department they've got guys who're proven performers out here but a couple of them are getting long in the tooth now. Dravid is a great ambassador for Indian cricket but his footwork and reflexes look to be seriously on the wane. The same can be said for VVS Laxman who's always been a bit of an enigma but a giant killer against Australia. 

After this series they really should look towards ushering out a couple of these guys with more 'yesterdays than tomorrows' and bringing in some new blood - god knows they've got enough talented batsmen churning out huge runs in their domestic scene. This Rohit Sharma is being held back despite being rated by many good judges as one of the best batsmen in the world right now.

Overall imo the really disappointing thing about India today and when they're at their worst is the way they basically give up. They go totally quiet in the field, their shoulders drop and they exude negativity that tells the opposition they're ripe for the beating. Even though Australia has had some dark moments over the past couple of years they always give off the impression they're busting a gut and trying to find a way back until the result is in. South Africa is the same and even England has managed to find that fighting quality of late as well. 

One thing that shouldn't be overlooked in this series imo is Australia's bowling. With Mitchell Johnson tipping the fuck out we now have an attack that bowls a lot of balls in the right areas and builds pressure. James Pattinson bowls quick outswingers in good areas - a simple formula that will get him a tonne of wickets if he can stay fit and maintain his form. Peter Siddle has gone to another level this summer and should always be the first fast bowler picked in the aussie team because he's super aggressive and would run through brick walls for the team if he had to. Every team needs a bowler like him.

can you imagine the payback they've got in store for last night's pitch pissup debacle ?!  When Australia asks for the heavy roller they'll get cows and fire crackers or a dead body rolling the pitch

Agree 100%. They bowled quite well against New Zealand as well. Craig McDermott has done a wonderful job and now that pie chucker is gone, they look to have a rotation in Pattinson, Cummins (when fit), Harris, Hilfy and Siddle that can challenge England. Even Starc bowled some good stuff yesterday. Love how they are bowling full and finally actually moving the ball consistently.

Yes they are, and MS Dhoni is the most overrated captain / keeper-batsman / plodding donkey on the planet.

Warner and Cowan are the worst opening pair to ever get a 200 run stand,neither of the two can bat,they play and miss at a ridiculous amount of deliveries and they also mishit a ridiculous amount of deliveries,there fortunate things have been going there way,neither of these two donkeys will be playing for Australia in a few years

I don't mind Warner being there, he's going to look like a donkey sometimes but at least he gets on with it and like yesterday, can get Australia off to a good start before the inevitable collapse rolls along.

Never in my life seen a team that is so invincible at home yet absolutely rubbish away from home....

As Hirsh said, the Canberra Raiders of international cricket...Dare i say India is probably even better at home than the raiders are at home but India are worse away from home than the raiders are  away from home......

After Warner got out for 180, Ganguly spoke about how Ishant Sharma had the last laugh after he got Warner out 

How many 4's and 6's did Warner hit off Sharma in the innings
