Aussie's FIBA World Cup Thread

Will keep this one thread running for the entire World Cup. Going to be interesting this World Cup with so many potential countries trying to push for WC glory. Greece have Giannis and have looked good in friendlies, the Aussies beat team USA and you can't look past Serbia. Definitely a  good squad.

I am not a high volume bettor when it comes to these tournaments, I try and pick my spots and go from there.

Hey Aussie! I’ve been following you since last year in the WNBA forum. Hehe. What’s your take on the games for the tomorrow in the WC? Will appreciate your inputs.

They are very good odds mate. Definitely has a lot of value there for a team like Serbia There are at least 4-5 contenders in this WC, USA cannot be dismissed because lets face it, their line-up still looks great but that +550 has great value.

The opening 8 games aren't too enticing and I am not a fan of laying gigantic chalk either especially in Game 1 of these tournaments because those large underdog countries give it their all in the first game because they are excited, pumped to play a major nation and always a massive chance of a back door cover if the team can hit a few 3's.

 Iran vs Puerto Rico: Over 149.5

 Jordan vs Dominican Republic: Over 154.5

This game isn't until tomorrow but grabbing this early line as I think this game goes over 160.

Cruising at 74-59, it looked over and then that crazy last 30 seconds of the game was just insane. Great comeback from PR. Do not know what Iran was doing or thinking. Tough to comeback from that loss mentally

Now that was too close for my liking. Line opened at 153, got as high as 157 and game hit 156. Simply amazing from the line makers.

 Venezuela vs Ivory Coast: Over 136.5

Very low total which I believe is achievable. Venezuela scored well in the 1st and 4th quarters against Poland but then scored just 27 across the 2nd and 3rd. They hit 69 but that was against a decent country like Poland. Same how the Ivorian's only scored 11 two pointers against China, which I find remarkable across 40 mins of basketball. Means they only scored a 2 point bucket once every 3.5 mins. They did land 7 three pointers which is good, and seeing that the Venezuelans gave up 19 two pointers vs the Polish, hopefully Ivory Coast can hit a bit more than 11. Time will tell but this is a low line considering the Venezuelan game vs Poland had a total of 164.5. Do I think this game deserves a decrease in points by almost 30, no and that's why I am taking the over.

Peekay, where have you been hiding? Haven't seen a post from you for quite sometime. Mate the total flew over, 87-71 is a nice result. I agree with your assessment on the Philippines and Serbia should win this one so easily without breaking much sweat but I don't like taking massive chalk in any league mate, just so risky.

I was also tempted to take serbia but man 39 pts handicap is damn huge.

If they blow them early they could relax coming the 4 th quarter, and the philipinos tend to never give up.

Yeah Dalshim, its a massive line and I cannot put money on such a large line. I know there is massive discrepancy between the two countries but the big named Serbian players could see rest very early on and Philippines could easily do a nice backdoor cover.

Which Fantasy are you doing these day mate?

I gave up on Sportsbet, just don't trust them and had an issue with them before. I am now with Neds and Beteasy and a few others. Neds offers player props when they want by the looks of things, not consistent across the games. They offered it for the Greek game last night on the 3 of the players but then didn't offer anything for other games where the countries aren't as big as the likes of USA, Serbia, Australia and Spain.

I am mainly on Draftstars playing AFL fantast and NBA when it kicks off and Draftkings since it launched in Australia last season.

Yeah Sportsbet is a disaster tbh, multiple times winning bets have been graded as a loss, you have to micromanage everything.

Its weird to see the line keep growing for Serbia. I once saw -36, now it's about -39.

I think over is a safer bet than taking sides. PH team tend to be an emotional team. We can see them fight hard tho still might lose big depends on how Serbia will shoot.

PH Rookies (Bolick and Perez) doesnt play like rookies, they fight hard despite the odds.

Post defense will be PH's weakess link. With a big Serbian line up, i can see PH try to run the ball. Blatche might take more shots too, given a very poor performance against Italy.

Fans all over the Philippines already expecting a massive blow out. This game could be a show for the team.
