Gamehunter, do you find your units (weight) system plays a large roll in the season outcome profitwise?
I am a flat dime player, do you suppose my results would be FAR OFF yours if I bet each of your plays for a dime regardless of your weighting?
It boils down to a question of how much you think your weightings dictate your profits, rather than your actual picks/win-loss record per se. If you have no basis for comparing I will simply apply a straight +110 average play against your w-l record and get a sense.
Thanks again for your time and reply to my previous question.
Sorry Cap.....I still haven't gotten over my American Idol euphoria and my daughter's keen AI handicapping ability that won me a dime last night. I don't know that I have a direct answer to your question. I think that my weights of games have somewhat of a positive impact on my overall performance but it is not huge. Don't forget my plays don't vary all that much. My most common play is 1.5 units. I may have 1 1 to 5 three unit plays all year and maybe 10-15 2.5 units plays. The rest range mostly between 1.25 and 2 units. Maybe on the really big plays you should consider a bit more but there probably isn't a lot of impact on evenly weighting the common mid-range plays that account for 90% of what I do.
As a caveat, I will often throw out that my performance the past two seasons does not insure anything regarding this season and there is no assurance I will turn a profit although I am confident I will. The season will always be a bit of a roller coaster ride and I do not get too euphoric about a winning streak or too down about a losing streak. It's a 6 month season and there will be lots of peaks and valleys and managing those peaks and valleys is key.

Thanks for that GH, and if you ever feel the urge to bet hockey would be happy to see you in the NHL forum and on my thread any time. Keep up the good work - your record speaks for itself. I agree completely with your MLB sides betting strategy (though I'm strictly a totals capper) so I do plan to join you on your plays this season.
Thanks again for your time

i don't quite understand what you mean when you say when you play a favourite you multiply 1.5 units by the line??
Old school bookmakers would take bets as follows. Say the Yankees are -150 and the Royals are +140. If I called up and said give me a dime on the Yankees, I would be betting the Yanks to win a dime and risking $1500. If I said give me the Royals for a dime, I was risking a dime to make $1400. That's how I play when I post here. So when I play favorites for 1.5 units and they lose (i.e., -110) I would actually lose 1.65 units (multiply the 1.5 units times the -110).

Game Hunter, excellent insight. If you follow my plays this summer, you'll see that I advocate a lot of the principles you've suggested. It's the only way to beat MLB long-term - find value in the line and exploit it as many times as you can. GL.

I play mostly at Matchbook...there is no reason to play elsewhere.......I have a local who is set up offshore but it's a 10 cent line...I also have access through a close friend to Pinnacle....however, Matchbook is easy to fund for me and it is worth thousands of dollars for me each month in the juice I earn and save.
I've been with Matchbook for a couple of years and now have trouble funding my account. Visa gift cards don't work, they no longer take moneygram and Greek stopped allowing transfers.Help me on how it is easy to fund your Matchbook account.

Not sure why you are having problems. The only way I have funded it in the past is with bank wires which take about 3 days to credit to your account.

Pack- You can fund MB through a bank prepaid Mastercard. I just did it in late January. It is kind of crazy, though. You go to the bank website and on the front page, you can find a local retailer. Mine was a Check Cashing USA location. You go in, purchase the card and you're all set. BUT, it isnt like buying a regular pre-paid card. You have to fill out an application, give them all your personal info (name, address, ss# and the like). You then are given a temporary credit card and your receipt has an activation code. You call up bank's automated line and activate your card. You are then set. In about 10 days, you get your "official" bank card and you can reload it when necessary. It's kind of a pain, but not too bad.

A wire definitely works. Make sure you fill out the box on the cashier instructions about the amount and account it is coming from. This will help them get it to your account quicker. Also, they will reimburse you the cost your bank charges you for the wire so make sure once they get it, that you email them and tell them what it cost so they credit you for that cost.

I have a question for you gamehunter... You use matchbook, I was thinking in make a deposit there but I just dont know because most of the time I place my wagers at midnight around 3-4 am ET, so I was wondering first, do they have run lines at -1.5? I never play those but I use them to get the -1 lines sometimes wagering some portion on the ML and the rest on the -1.5 the other thing do they have team totals? I know they do have 1rst 5 innings, but my problem would be around that time 3-4 am how much money average do you think is in a game already? is there lets say at least $500 - 1000 in every side, run line, team total, etc. or you have to wait until the morning? I would appreciate your answer... GL this season

Wow, Thanks for reminding me, forgot to do that part. Had funds in Matchbook, but I needed to add for baseball.

ditter Could you tell me if there is a charge for fees on either end for the Mastercard and is there a max amount you can send? Sorry Gamehunter for using your thread to ask ditter.
