The Giants will be playing their 5th road game in 6 weeks. That couldn't of happened much in the past. Maybe it doesn't matter much, but it can't be good.
Here's what IS good for Philly. Strangely enough, they played the gmen in W18, had a bye, and play them again in the divisional round. That's basically 3 weeks of game planning for the same team. Minus that bye week, where I'm sure they had to look at both the Giants and Vikings on an even level. Nevertheless, they've been mostly focused on the Giants for 3 weeks.
The Giants and Vikings game was like a tennis match where neither team wanted to get to advantage. You guys know, I was a nervous wreck watching that game. It was very good, intense and high leverage.
And that was against the Vikings. Who suck. Especially on defense where they are slow at nearly every position. The Giants are a lot closer in level/talent to the Vikings, and a lot further from the Eagles.
Philly, by dvoa has the #1 rush offense. And the Giants run D ranks #32. If we're wondering why the Vikings didn't have success vs that run D, I think I explained the Dexter Lawrence vs Garrett Bradbury matchup clearly. Jason Kelce on the other hand is a next level center, and he's healthy.
Also, Philly will challenge you on the edges with rpo's and Jalen Hurts as an option to run at any moment. That option with Captain Kirk did not exist.
Philly also has another #1 ranking in dvoa, and that is their pass defense. Danny Dimes looked God like vs the Vikings. The Giant wr's were getting separation as if they had Jalen Waddle and Tyreek Hill out there. But be rest assured, vs this Philly secondary this will not be the case.
Want another #1 ranking? Philly 1H. Giants in the 1H are #23.
Here's what the 1H scores looked like between these two teams this year. 24-7 and 16-0.
I like Dabol, he's done good things with a less than average roster alla Mike Vrabel. But his luck runs out against an equally good coach in Nick Sirianni, and a better roster that's rested.
Getty, thanks for the bit about the Giants using man coverage, and how Philly exploits it.
