great job this season everyone.
of course, we'll do it again next season. look for the summer newsletter in late july or august.
speaking of which this was the theme of the 2019 newsletter. if you look at the four teams i thought might have serious qb issues, they all did. brees had a good season, but he had a major dropoff at the end. like he has the last couple of seasons. anyway, the Qb situation for a lot of teams will be an even bigger issue next season.
you guys might disagree with me on that though.

as of right now, as far as teams with Qb situations that are solid, i think i'd take detroit out. i like stafford but this was his first season with a major injury and missing a lot of games so we'll see how he responds to that. what about the rams? goff hasn't progressed like many thought. here are the teams i'd say don't really have to worry about qb's. this doesn't mean these are the best qb's, just better than average qb's who aren't coming off an injury or aren't getting too old.
Buffalo
Shrimp
Houston
Tennessee
KC
Dallas (assuming they sign Dak)
GB
Minnesota
Atlanta
SF
Seattle
i'm not ready to put rodgers in that group with rivers, brady, brees, roethlisberger yet but he's close. obviously that list isn't the best qb's. but ai think all of those teams have solid, injury free, not too old qb's and don't have to worry about the qb position at least for the next season.
kvs, i haven't heard anything about changes to the forum. what's going on?

Meanwhile the Jacksonville/London Jaguars can pick and choose between Cashew mania or Nick "Mr. Clutch" Foles. I think Josh Dobbs is still on the roster too. He was certainly worth trading a 5th round pick for.

yeah, the new forum is pretty terrible. sometimes when i was doing the newsletter, it wouldn't let me post because it was too long or some other stupid shit so i'd always switch to the old one. i'll stay around unless it's a big pain in the ass and then we'll figure something else out.
tampa is an interesting situation. winston puts up huge numbers but he's also a complete disaster in just about every game. it's why TB is hard to bet and i just started looking at their team totals or their opponent's team totals. it's hard to get rid of a guy who led the league in yards and was second in td's, but he was also first in int's (by far) and fourth in sacks. basically, unless he figures out how to take case of the ball and make better decisions, this team has no chance of going anywhere in the playoffs. so, i'd say they need to get rid of him after next year if it doesn't get much better. they aren't winning with rivers at this point so unless they can get brady or some other proven qb who still has some arm strength, i think they need to start winston for one more year while they also either draft a qb or try to get one from another team, if possible.
i think jacksonville is screwed. they could have had a high draft pick and maybe taken a qb but they beat the colts in week 17 for some stupid reason and that knocked them down several spots. now, there are at least 3 teams ahead of them who desperately need a qb and possibly two more who could take one.

I couldn't agree more.
CD has been railing about Marrone the court jester longer than I have.
The fines were all levied by Der Kommissar Coughlin. They have mercifully parted ways with the ancient crustacean.
Don't knock the fan base. They usually fill the stadium. They've just grown tired of incompetence. Londoners don't care who wins or loses, they just want to see the game. Kind of like me at an MLS match between Orlando FC and Sporting KC.
Fournette was a #4 overall pick. Meanwhile the starting RBs in the Super Bowl were a guy who had been cut 5 times in 4 years(Mostert) and another who was signed to a league minimum contract after Miami gave up on him.
Don't overdraft a running back !

ODB, you're right. even if they had a higher draft pick, they still have the marrone problem. you look at high level coaches like belichik, reid on offense, shanahan, what harbaugh did with jackson and then there's marrone. does anyone see this team winning a super bowl with that guy? as getty said, i've been commenting over and over for two years now about marrone. i was shocked they kept him. besides, look at what the jaguars have done with top draft picks in the past. fournette can be good, but every team should understand at this point that you don't expend a high draft pick or pay a ton of money to a RB, especially if you can get a great player at a much more valuable position instead. mahomes or watson, for instance. we could do this all day but two of the best young cornerbacks in the league went 27th (white) and 90th (griffin) in that draft. eddie jackson went 112th. kittle went 146th. and so on.
and then there was the bortles draft pick.
carolina is another team with a huge problem. unless newton makes a miraculous recovery and returns to his old form, which is highly unlikely, they have nothing at qb. and their defense isn't what it used to be. i think they just have to start over. and that's going to be a tough division for at least one more season. atlanta was very strong in the second half, as they should have been all season. TB could be a playoff level team if they can get a pass defense in the offseason. winston is a mess, but that team scores and if they can stop other teams from throwing on them all day, they can go from 7 wins to 9 or 10. not sure what brees' situation is but he's still good enough to play and if they use hill more, that's a very tough offense. jax has the same problem. houston will always be pretty good with watson and their receivers. tenn looks good. indy has a lot of young talent and a great coach. jax has too much talent to start over but too many key problems and terrible coaching so they aren't likely to compete in that division.
