Another thing, I VERY rarely bet on a Laker game...if I do, it's usually against them because they are usually an overpriced public favorite, but, like I said, I rarely bet Laker games. Don't you worry, I STILL GOT MY SHIRT, I killed it in the NCAA Tourney the past two days.

Like I've told you before, make an appearance when the Lakers are doing well, give some props when they are doing well, give a little insight on their success...until then you will NEVER earn my respect OR the respect of most here on Covers! GET A LIFE LOSER!

Look Fu,  I agree that Lebron is having just as good a season that Kobe is having, even a better one.    And yes, Kobe has a way more better supporting cast than LJ.    Kobe will win the MVP this year more based on a sympathy vote from the league more than based on stats between him and LJ.

I think the Lakers are in pretty good shape (aside from injuries)...I don't know if you've looked at the schedule or not, but, after tomorrow night's game I believe the Lakers easily have the softest schedule remaining in the Western Conference.

8 games at Staples (toughest being Spurs, Mavs, Hornets) and ONLY 3 games on the road (Kings, Blazers, Clippers)

The Lakers should be alright. I'm not sure about tomorrow night, the Lakers should be fired up after this loss tonight, but, after that I could easily see the Lakers winning out their final 11 games.

very well said man this dude wasnt even around when the lakers smashed on the Jazz who are sick at home. ALso out of all the teams in the west the Lakers are the only team that has a winning record against them.

Lakers played a great game all around; but again...this is a kobe thread.

He missed a shot that could have iced it in the 4th; committed 2 turnovers in OT, almost being useless at the end of the game. His team though, stepped up, hit big shots, and played well. Lamar had another career game, with probably the best stat line I've seen all year from any player.

This proves yet again, that even if Kobe doesn't perform well, or doesn't show up in the clutch, his team can STILL win; even against a great team like GS...

Gasol and Bynum would have hurt this game IMO. You need a small lineup to play back at GS effectively. But there is no doubt Lakers can only get better with Gasol and Bynum.

Kobe did hit 2 free throws at the end to put it out of reach; but ultimately didn't play up to potential in the 4th and OT with some costly turnovers and poor decision making at the end.

I gave credit to Kobe, but playing big men against small, fast teams, is NOT a good idea. This is coaching basics.

And don't act like Kobe was the one who set up all the shots at the end. Again, aside from the free throws he made; he was garbage from the end of the 4th on into OT. He committed turnovers, and forced stupid shots while his team played amazing.

I bash LeBron if HE plays bad, or if he makes bad plays. My point is, if LeBron plays bad, his team has no shot in hell to win the game; if he plays well, they do. If Kobe plays bad, his team can still win, meaning his team and coach, aside from him, are very good and know when to show up. This to me, is NOT mvp.

Having a bad game + your team winning = NOT MVP.

First off, do you see all the attention from defenders that Kobe draws? Do you see how these leaves his teammates open and gets them good looks? Kobe simply being on the floor makes his team better, even if he doesn't even take one shot! Get it?

Secondly, Gasol and Bynum would have hurt the Lakers in this game????? Are you kidding me? You can't be serious...

To start off with, offensively, this would've given the Lakers an inside scoring game, which they are playing without right now. The addition of an inside game would've made their overall offense multiple times better by creating more open perimeter looks.

On the defensive end Gasol and Bynum would have completely clogged up the middle, eliminating almost all of the Warriors easy drives to the hoop. Do you have a problem understanding this? The Warriors like to shoot 3's, but, they cannot win consistently by simply shooting 3's, what makes them win is the penetration to the hoop by guys like B-Diddy, S-Jax, etc. With the two Laker big men in the game that would make this almost impossible. Are you with me yet?

The most impressive thing to me is how well the Lakers are playing with ZERO INSIDE GAME WHATSOEVER! They did it last week @ Utah and last night @ G.S... Add in the inside game and you have a very scary team to face in the playoffs!

You guys don't seem to understand my point here. In my opinion, Kobe is the best active player in the league career wise right now, and a top 5 player of all time. But this season, he isn't performing as well as he had in the 05-06 season.

Last nights game was not an example of Kobe's skill in general, but rather the skill of his team and their ability to close out games and come through and hit big shots and make big plays. No doubt Kobe played well, but he was nowhere to be found in the clutch. He missed a shot with 40 seconds left, committed 2 turnovers in the 4th, and took ill-fated shots at the end. Kobe is playing amazing, as usual, but the point is that his team can win when he doesn't play well. This has been proven time and time again, and its not anything to take away from him, but rather a plus for his team. This to me does NOT equal MVP. If your team can perform well when you don't, this is NOT MVP over players like Chris Paul and LeBron who if they perform bad, wouldn't even have a shot at winning a game.

I never based this off of one game. You clearly haven't seen my posts before which is a shame. And talking about consistency in the clutch, of course im going to point to LeBron.

LeBron, statistically, and in terms of effectiveness realistically in the 4th quarter and in close game situations, performs the best in the league.

I acknowledge Kobe as one of the all-time greats, but 2nd best player THIS SEASON behind LeBron, and an MVP candidate AFTER both LBJ and Chris Paul.

An MVP by definition means how valuable you are to the team. If your team can perform well when you don't; thats not MVP over someone who's team has no shot in hell of winning a game when you perform sub-par.

I understand Kobe makes his team better, as do most people; by drawing defense. But in terms of making plays; the team has to come through. An open pass means NOTHING if you can't knock it down. And it's not like Kobe is always the main facilitator; you act like he averages 10 assists a game. He draws defense sure, but the distribution of the ball shouldn't always be credited to him. They have good players on that team, including a veteran points guard, and one of the best role players in the game in Lamar.

Having BOTH Gasol and Bynum would have hurt the lakers. Teams run a smaller lineup vs offensive minded, fast paced, small teams like GS and phoenix. That's usually why players rotate a lot more in these type of games in order to matchup well with the other team's lineup.

When Bynum played last time, Odom was at PF, still a small lineup. It's not like clogging the lane would stop GS from jacking up 3's like they are known for doing. It would create a slow game for the lakers, with poor transition defense for such a fast paced team.

There is no hating here; I'm being realistic and objective and providing facts and arguments. The same people crediting Kobe for being the sole reason his teammates hit open shots, take it away from players like LeBron when Larry Hughes had a 30 point game. Kobe doesn't make Lamar rebound better; he doesn't make the players force defensive stops. He spreads the floor and gives open shots, but like I said, it's not like he averages 10 assists a game, and the players have to be able to HIT the shot. And as a reference, Fisher and Vujacic created their own shots last night off their own possession and dribble, rather than receiving a "perfect" pass from Kobe like you mention. Be realistic when you watch man; the sport would be a lot better.

And why did you highlight what I wrote. Kobe has had sub-par games this season with a lot of turnovers, where his team still came through and won, by large margins sometimes. The credit needs to be given to the WHOLE lakers team, not just Kobe.
