    @wallstreetcappers

     You referenced the FED -- use what they use.

    But actually you can pick whichever index you like.  It applies to any of them at this point.

    One other thing...who did I "run off"?

    I run off people who break the rules of posting on this site, believe me I've battled with worse than Detox, but the same principal has existed since this site began and I have been posting, if someone breaks the rules or gets personal then that is an issue. I can disagree with anyone all day long and ZERO issue from me. When people attack others and make personal then that is where the issue starts.

    You also have a tendency to make things personal and to wreck discussion, I am not going to waste time with people who cannot have a limit to how they interact with others and are unable to disagree with respect and consideration.

    Inflation is not an index, where did this become a stipulation for discussion?

    Sheesh...no wonder you are confused you make assumptions that are very very very far from truth and reality. Ive never defined inflation as an index, inflation is prices rising not a basket or index.

    I stand by all I have said, the increase in the FED balance sheet created both direct and indirect inflation...that is all I have said and I stand firmly to that very statement.

    No. You know full well what they are measuring. I am saying just use the PCE that is what the FED looks at to set their rate.  This index excludes the gas and food, as I explained.  So, they are looking at the other consumables that affect folks that can be quantitatively measured and that are not volatile.

    The policies that caused the current 40-year high inflation started in the last couple of years NOT over 10 years ago.  I stand by what I said.

    @Raiders22

     Ok I will give you one more shot at either backing your slander to me with details, words, specifics or retract it. You said I was wrong about the stock market...so using MY words, my quotes, my details please provide where I was WRONG. If you choose to slander and generalize you might get called on it. Its your choice, either back your slander up or retract it and back off.

    Where did I say PCE is what we were discussing, where did I say that consumer inflation was the measure I was referring to? Find those specifics to back up what YOU said to me, or please retract those words against me.

    The problem you have is there for sure is a disconnect with what you are seeking here, this for you is a right, wrong, left vs right, personal petty attacks and insults. With me I am open for DISCUSSION, I dont mind a differing opinion I dont mind if you disagree with me that is just fine and in fact it is great to hear a contrarian opinion and someone who enjoys discussion back and forth. The issue is you do not want to discuss you want to provoke and put others down. Why the need to pull a LEFT remark or that someone is WRONG? What good is that?

    I think it would be better for you to stick with your group and avoid interacting with others who do not agree with you because your inability to discuss and be respectful is blaringly obvious, I never go seeking out interaction with you because there is none so please do not seek out replying to my posts or messages and especially since you cannot contain yourself and be respectful even if someone disagrees or is right or left or is different from you.

    It is not slander.  But it is from 2018 I think so it is not updated.  I can update it later if you like.

    Didn't know what to tell someone that was just starting out investing what to do.  Just told him to wait until he had saved more money up:

    https://www.covers.com/postingforum/POST01/showmessage.aspx?spt=86&sub=102513820

    Says he can't figure out market and why it is so high.  Has been on sidelines through runup:

    https://www.covers.com/postingforum/POST01/showmessage.aspx?spt=86&sub=102383758

    Doesn't like investing in real estate now, thinks banks will not do well when rates rise, doesn't like European banks and got confused about VGK being a bank only fund even when fellow mentions European markets,

    https://www.covers.com/postingforum/POST01/showmessage.aspx?spt=86&sub=102550865

    Even someone else noticed that he never recommends anything.  He is always pointing out reasons any investment is bad:

    https://www.covers.com/postingforum/POST01/showmessage.aspx?spt=86&sub=102335793

    Another time he didn't like stocks and missed out on a huge runup:

    So if you like you can go by to a couple of the other threads in the investment since then and look at them.  Mainly the ones with the guy that called you out on there about your negativity about the stock market.  Etc.

    Again, try to take this as positive criticism.  It will be helpful with your name to use it to help these folks out.

    Detox was talking about inflation being at a 40-year high.  Then you brought the FED into it.  All I am pointing out is when they adjust their rate they are looking at the PCE.

    So, my point is the same.  No matter what measures you use — inflation is up.  None of the measure are up because of policies put in place over 10 years ago.  These policies were put into place in the last couple of years.

    Of course, I know what I am talking about.  It is pretty evident which one of us is correct.  My opinion I have written on and spoke on with data, etc. You have just given an everyday guy’s opinion with no backup.

    So can’t you see how this looks at least?

Any questions? Pretty short sided reply, do you need a chart of the FED balance sheet to correct your inaccurate reply? Inflation does not pop out of nowhere in a year, this has been building for over ten years and inflation has been here for multiple years, what brought it to the TV for the masses to see is the price of oil and gas, but inflation has been here for a long long time just denied and suppressed so the FED could keep rates low. If the FED were serious about inflation they would not have allowed this to build as they did nor would they have done some measly raise of 50 bps and wait for the meeting date to do it. It is obvious the FED is not engaged to fight inflation and the bond market indicates this reality.

    Again, this is your original remark I was talking about.  You took issue with Detox saying inflation was up.

    Called him short-sided.  I assume you meant short sighted.  But the figures are what they are.

    You mentioned the oil and gas bringing it to the masses.  I just simply pointed out that the FED do not even look at those when raising the rate.

    If you went off on a tangent or two after that.  I apologize for that.

    I assumed you were addressing Detox about what you thought was short sighted about saying the inflation was up, etc.

    So, again, I apologize if you were addressing something he did not even reference?

    Everything I said was a fact.

    People really hate facts these days it seems.

    Raiders, as long as we continue to see things for what they are and continue to make boatloads of money … that’s all that matters.

    Since this thread has now dissolved completely into a repetitious and very annoying combat seemingly without end, including personal insults, perhaps it's best if this thread be moved to the PB.

    @I_Need_A_Detox

     In his defense, a lot of guys I know have been predicting and saying this for years.  Of course, it was bound to happen one day.  But, if you look at the data I referenced, it never materialized.  These policies have been shown to have a lag of 2-3 years.  This is directly related to current administration policies and Democrat actions.  There is simply no way to swerve that fact.

    You are correct.  But to me WSC does have a lot of knowledge and could really help the investment forum out more.  Because of his name people expect him to do that I think.

    However, you are correct -- we are all here to try to make money in the end.

    So, it is good to get everyone's perspective on how to do that.  peace_5

    Sorry if you think so.  I never use foul language or make personal attacks.  I have never seen this as useful at getting my point across.  Sure, if the person I am talking to has said something I have to reference them by saying they said whatever it was.

    But I never personally attack someone.  I never call people names.  It is just not what I do.  I will always be respectful, no matter how much I disagree with someone.

    I think when you start attacking a person or being disrespectful -- you have lost the discussion and had to resort to that.

    For example, I would never say: "Sheesh...no wonder you are confused you make assumptions that are very very very far from truth and reality."  or "Thanks for the reply but you really have no idea what you are talking about here, better to keep to cut and paste articles instead of making a generalization on a topic you are very very wrong about."

    That is just not who I am.  I will try to explain to a person why they are wrong about it and I will do it in a respectful manner and with good intentions.  I will also use data to back it up.  I do this in any forum on here.

    I also do this publicly and in open forums.  The yelling back and forth I try to always avoid and the ranting and raving.  It never is good for your audience members or classroom -- and, especially, the person you are addressing.  You will never get a person to see your point of view like that.  You have to be reasonable and polite.

    You also have to be willing to admit when you are wrong about something.  Or, if you have not provided enough information to someone to convince them -- maybe you have to try it from another angle.  But always be respectful -- you get better results that way.  Or, maybe someone provides you with better data, etc. to make you rethink your position.

    So, you have to keep an open mind as well.  peace_5

    So because the left leaning posters have a post that goes against them, they cry foul and get a post boxed. This is the reason people don't post here.

    This post should have never been in the box.

    Literally posters who haven't contributed but look foolish will cry so nobody sees their garbage posts.

    UNBOX THIS THREAD SO WE CAN WATCH IT PLAY OUT!

And a combination of Biden winning in November (Good news) *plus* the passing of Biden's stimulus bill (more Good news) the markets are on a steeper incline. This can be readily verified by viewing 2 charts: DOW:  https://tinyurl.com/n8cywnee S&P :  https://tinyurl.com/479wech9

    WSC- you complain and box a thread because you had a tuff with one poster about real thoughts and you complain about copy and paste, but you let a few other posters in this form copy and paste 97% of their posts and give no discussion.  I think WSC should be boxed.

    Maybe if posters scream loud enough, you'll box yourself.

    WSC  had the nerve to tell me that I contribute nothing to the forum. So I have taken his advice and I just read the threads without contributing. I have been here for over 20 years and I was singled out simply because I'm a conservative.

    All that being said, I see no one is mentioning Dr. Anthony Fauci for closing down this country and causing this inflation. Let's not forget our wonderful leader constantly printing money and requesting trillions for that Build Back Better disaster

    @LRM704

     Nice looking offseason for the JETS ...I'm tempted to bet them over their win total and 2nd in the division at long odds...

    What are your thoughts Brother?

    sp500 going back to 3000-3500 imo, not many support levels on the chart to hold it up
