Why did the fed raise rates? Because we were seeing the highest inflation rates in 40 years. Why were we seeing the highest inflation rates in 40 years? Since Joe Biden took office, the US has printed nearly 80% of all US dollars in existence. Any questions?
Pretty short sided reply, do you need a chart of the FED balance sheet to correct your inaccurate reply? Inflation does not pop out of nowhere in a year, this has been building for over ten years and inflation has been here for multiple years, what brought it to the TV for the masses to see is the price of oil and gas, but inflation has been here for a long long time just denied and suppressed so the FED could keep rates low.
If the FED were serious about inflation they would not have allowed this to build as they did nor would they have done some measly raise of 50 bps and wait for the meeting date to do it. It is obvious the FED is not engaged to fight inflation and the bond market indicates this reality.

Cars did better as an investment but worse in an inflationary view.....
1932 Ford Cost In 1932? Evidence of that is as clear and direct as the value NADA Guides lists for a ’32 Ford Coupe today. The car that sold new for $485 in 1932 now commands a retail price as high as $54,000, which turns the term “retained value” on its head.

Yes please share the Feds balance sheet.
Also share how much it has increased since Joe Biden became President.
Then explain how it’s just a coincidence that it coincides with massive inflation.
Thanks for doing the grunt work, I appreciate you.

It isnt partisan at all, but to prove your partisan approach I had to show the chart.
The jump while Trump was in was over 50% in the balance sheet, since Biden is in office that has slowed but the reality is back to 2008 the move has been straight up and unnecessary.

To me inflation was imbedded after 2011 when the FED did not shrink their balance sheet and actually it went up 300% more when it should have returned to baseline and not kept at those levels. That suppression of interest rates created a risk environment and also pushed the RE market up since that drop which started reversing in 2011.

Yeah you are teaching me the basics I am so lucky. We had this discussion before, M1 means nothing and do you wonder why the FED stopped reporting the other more important M2? Any idea?
M1 is something that had value 50 yrs ago, but thanks for that wonderful lesson. Also tell me something since you are so smart...why did M1 spike like that when the prior 12 yrs the FED balance sheet was up over 200% but "M1" was quite flat?
So would you like to be educated on this again, or did you forget our discussion in the past?
M1.....lmao

M1?

Yeah that created the environment for assets to soar. Assets soaring led to the feds asset balance sheet to increase significantly. Joe Biden and co created the environment for INFLATION.
Two different situations.
Just admit I’m right, you’ll feel better.
