I feel like we can mention a band or artist from the 80's till we hit page 10.
There should be some coaching news in between.
@Biscuiteater1
I hear ya. I wasn't necessarily the biggest fan of that 80's sound at the time, especially in the pop scene.
But man you can still hear people today mimicking that sound in their music.
If you have any heavy metal questions, I'm all ears. That was my first love as a little shit.

Industrial type of metal might have began in the 80's but not metal per se. When you have seen The Allman Brothers - ZZ Top and a WHOLE lot in between to me not alot of great stuff post 85, which is not to say that there isn't any and probably a lot of great stuff. But if you are going to take a 20 year period its tough to match 60 - 70's.

Oh yea Industrial, another genre of the 80's
Ministry is from Chicago. Dudes wore Blackhawks jerseys on stage.
I met and talked to the bassist from Marilyn Manson at the Cobra Lounge. Dorky dude but down to earth. He was there checking out whatever no name band was playing, crazy industrial noise.
I saw ZZ top once, tight show. Seen Petty 3 times, seen Frampton once, Ozzy 3 or 4 times.
I understand that the true roots of metal came about before 80, like Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Motorhead, Iron Maiden.
My definition of that true heavy metal sound is from the 80's, when Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax and Megadeth came about. Some would call it thrash. Pantera was super early 90's, probably my fav.

There lies the 10 or year age difference between us. Although I preferred nicer music, the guys would drag me out to see Priest, Maiden, Scorpions, etc. By the time Metallica became mainstream I was already listening to Jimmy Buffet and Bob Marley.

My wife made me go see Linkin Park at Steinbrenner Field in Tampa a few years before Chester died. It was outstanding. The one "modern" band I have seen several times is Incubus. Those guys are right up my alley.

High enough to chip in. Grew up in a house that my Mom played every sweater wearing crooner. Andy, Frank, Dean and so many others were in her album collection. Just remember they all had sweaters on in all the pics! Sorry forgot Pat Boone . Mostly Motown for me as I was 60 miles north of Detroit on the Canadian side. CKLW 50,000 watts of power. 80% Motown. Found Hendrix in 68 and Motown was a thing of the past. 1st concert I went to had 3 acts Ted Nugent, Amboy dukes and MC 5. The 70's and 80's have stood the test of time. I make that statement because all my kids 38-42 still listen to it! Led Zep 4 probably the most played album in there houses. Band I always really liked was Boston. They were tight as hell! I have saw Thin Lizzy, Journey, Floyd twice, Seager 3 times. Now like someone said earlier listen to Buffet and Marley a lot with Amy Winehouse and U2 as my twist. Everyone has a their taste. I draw the line if someone says want to hear some YoKo Ono? Fook no!!! Let's have a good week boys and girls. 27-20 Rams. Maybe 26-18.

My bucket list concert was Boston who came to Florida in 2017. Even though Scholz was the only original member, the band was perfect. A very satisfying concert at the Amp.
To this day I'll still mix it up with some Dean Martin, Andy Williams, Sinatra, etc. I exposed my 2 kids to it when they were young and at home. The older one who's a pilot still loves it, the younger one would rather listen to Jason Aldean while sitting around a bonfire. Too each his own. I love them equally.

Ok fella's ... just settle down with that "death of disco" nonsensical talk.
I was known for doing a mean John Travolta-ish Saturday Night Fever thingy in the middle of the dance floor
I was also famous for forming a perfect 'M' while dressed as the construction worker during YMCA
Lotta people could do the Y, but it took a real man to pull off the M

We got to be brothers.
I'll hear a song and tell my wife, that's cool and funky, sounds like Amy Winehouse. She'll say, "Who?".
That's when I know I'm 'Way Cool"!

Most famous person from there or 2. Been to Albany, visited Biff from Armadillo Sports for an overnighter then proceeded to Foxwoods to join the Golden Goose for 3 days. I will say hell of state. Entered in Buffalo and took my time. Finger Lakes, Syracuse and Cooperstown, nice elevation changes and beauty scenery. Sneaking in the toll booths along the way was very inviting lol.

Born at the best of times bro. Fall of 52. Dodged a lot of fracas to turn 25. Nothing was asked of me. No wars, disruption or anything major. 72 gas crisis was the only thing I remember effecting me.

I also met Golden Goose on 2 occasions. Once for lunch up by him, and then he came to my town (Ridgefield, CT) for dinner and a rock show. I believe it was Robin Trower. Our local venue wasn't that big and Goose and I had pretty good seats. Trower was tearing up his guitar while walking down the aisle and he threw his guitar pick into our row. It landed right on Goose's chest! I bet he still has that pick.
Haven't seen Goose on this site in a bit. Hope he is well
