Gas in Michigan has dropped from $4.86 to $4.55 since we arrived 3 weeks ago.
Good to see it going in the right direction.
Seems like it’s in taxpayers interest to prop these companies up during tough times with tax dollars?
Let’s say the government gave these companies $60,000,000,000.00 during the downturn, the pipeline was finished, everything was kept wide open for oil producing in the US (Trump), an agreement was made with Russia (we wouldn’t expand NATO blah blah), Russia never invades Ukraine, and sanctions are never put on Russian energy clogging the entire sector …
Would that have helped at all … or nah?

Keystone didnt and doesnt help US production at all, as we have discussed and you know from research it is a conduit for Alberta/Canadian sour crude to ship down to Valero who processes sour crude and then Canada has agreements with China for finished products, that is hauled to China. The only benefit is that Valero gets more work and US worker has to clean up keystone when it leaks...at US taxpayer expense and at the expense of damage to the environment, loss of lives etc.
Keystone would not have stopped a Russian conflict, not sure if that is what you are suggesting but the two groups who got pinched were Canada and China. If Canada wants to frack and process that lower grade sour crude then build some refineries and do it at home, dont abuse the US to ship product down to the gulf for refining.

But at minimum the pipeline would have helped the worlds supply a little.
Making an agreement not to expand NATO close to Russia would have stopped a Russian conflict.
American tax payers would have been much better off with that agreement than with what we have now.

Well we dont receive an impact from keystone, there is no way to form a narrative about the topic. I am not speaking as right or left rather just facts about the pipeline, who uses it, where it goes, what happens at the end point and who gets the refined products.
The oil market is global that is for sure, but that product from keystone impacts Brent more than Texas crude because China is a consumer in the Brent environment. If China does not get Canada product then their local production comes from the Brent pool, the Brent producers not from Texas/US production. The impact on the US is where consumers of Texas product are not getting enough supply then they go out to Brent resources and purchase there, THAT is the only way there is an impact.
I am happy to have you show me where that is not completely true, that keystone was not created to serve Canada production and that Alberta/Canada product that is served by Keystone is not pre-sold via forward agreements with China, that the product refined in the gulf FROM keystone is not already sold and does not stay in the US or impact Texas crude or refined product prices.
NATO is much more the topic, I think trying to blame the Russia conflict on this is amature hour detective work, it has no basis and is just a partisan way to complain about keystone.
Keystone should never have even been brought to the table, if Canada wants to refine product then do it in Canada, OR do not sell the product, let the production and end product stay in North America.

NATO has nothing to do with Keystone.
They’re just two things Biden (globalists) screwed up.
A bunch of international people said NATO should have backed off and made an agreement not to expand (I’m sure this didn’t make it into your algo) — From the most popular politician in Brazil, to India, to China, to the Pope — to name a few.

Exchange places and that's him being optimistic with Trump in office and you Dumocrats being doom and gloom. The thing is, there was little to be gloom and doom with Trump and plenty to be pessimistic about with Father Time Biden. So get off your holier than thou attitude, you are better (at least I think) than Fubar, Kelly, WallStreetCrapper and the rest of the disinformation crowd.

Agree the topics are not related, but you brought it up and I addressed it. Not that I felt either were connected just answering what you posted.
Energy prices in Europe are much worse than we experience and for sure that is due to the Russia situation, they have it much much worse.

Lay off the jabs and attacks, if you cannot control how you interact with others and have to resort to name calling and digs, why not just stop yourself from replying and avoid breaking the rules and getting boxed or banned?

See I live in the real world not one of fantasy where I change places with another human being.
If Mugg had disagreed with my comments, he would have just like he has in the past.
As far as you're concerned, you're a drive buy shooter with lousy aim. You take shots at people & as you admit, disappear from the forum which is the way most people like it.

Why do you feel conflicts in oil producing nations occur?
Because they can constrict supply.
Afghanistan has the largest oil discovery on this globe and has been at war for 50 years. If China wanted to sweet crude...they border that nation.....
Why do we need to destroy our environment for Canada's oil for Chinese markets?
Because Canada will not allow that tar sand to pass through pipes there.....
Keystones isn't an answer its a deflection.

Oil is below the level when Russia invaded Ukraine...
So gas price is still record high.....
Don't remember keystones pipeline even a reality
But only in the blue states so Republicans should be fine with it....

Sorry I do come in to see what idiocy is being said and shake my head, can't take much of it and leave. If you people were reasonable, I wouldn't feel the need to leave for my sanity. But you are so far left and far from reasonable. Sorry if you miss me.

hey you boxed two threads saying no one wanted to discuss and low and behold people discussed it. You just didn't like what was said, while you allow endless far left threads and all the left wingers do is just agree with what the others post with great replies like, "YEP", "YOU ARE SO RIGHT" and add nothing. You have allowed the politics forum to be overrun with disinformation trash where no one wants to have a civil discussion, so I don't feel the need to be civil with these boobs. So do what you wish. You have shown you don't allow free speech.

If you cant be civil then do not engage, simple as that. The site rules require that you are respectful and reasonable and that is why your threads were moved. In reality there are both sides threads still in this forum and that is enough, so if you want to talk about how crappy Biden is then find a thread of that because there are several, if you want to discuss how lousy Trump is, find a thread and post there. We even do allow threads which are of varying topics and content as long as there is no abuse, attacks, insults, digs etc as the origin of the thread.
I dont care what side of the coin you are on, just be respectful and considerate when replying to others and that goes for anywhere on the site, this politics forum is likely the most combative and difficult here and we tolerate too much as it already exists so whatever actions are taken it is not your concern why but if you have a question feel free to send a PM and we can explain it. Making insults and attacks as you have is not a way you get answers to questions and you are now fully warned of what we will and will not allow going forward.

@wallstreetcappers
Go move to a city with gas cheaper, you will likely find that the cost of living in areas with lower gas is LOWER but in general also the wage rate is lower. Not like rocket science that Calif has higher gas prices vs the national average.
My point was that cherry-picking low gas prices doesn't equate to us not having a problem, or that "things are getting better". California & Washington are top 5 in gas taxes.......we'll always be paying more for gas than other states. But when gas goes from $2.42/gallon to $5.53/gallon in about a years time that causes real problems for everyone here.

Reuters reveal Putin admitting that Finland and Sweden joining NATO would be no problem. In 2014, war was started by Russia after Ukraine revolution removing pro-Russian president. First 8 years included Russian annexation of Cremea and the war in Donbas. 2022 invasion continues escalation. United nations have long condemned Russia violations of international law and Ukraine sovereignty. Putin's claims have been dismissed by international community.

Pope Francis said that the “barking of NATO at the door of Russia” led to the invasion of Ukraine and that he didn't know whether other countries should supply Ukraine with more arms.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi says the US and NATO should have agreed to back NATO off of Russia.
Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said he believes Ukrainian President Zelenskiy is as much to blame for the war as Russian leader Vladimir Putin. The leftist leader also said US President Joe Biden could have done more to prevent the conflict instead of inciting it.
Iran’s foreign minister, Hossein Amirabdollahian, said in his first reaction following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine the crisis is “rooted in NATO’s provocations”.
Saudi Arabia said the same thing.
China said the same thing.
When you say that Putin’s claims have been dismissed by the “international community”, what are you talking about?
What is your definition of the international community — NATO?

Yep. You are so right about that. When the war in Ukraine ends sans nuclear the prices will fall much more, since that is the largest single impact on the rise in prices.

BS.
The same volume of Canadian tarsands heavy crude oil is still being delivered to the US, just not by a convenient pipeline. That's all it is.
It would not increase the oil Canada is shipping into the US

So when a foreign dictator - a historic adversary - makes demands OR ELSE, then according to you, the world should bow before him and give in to his demands.
In an identical likeness, Trump's insurrection and the resultant deaths never would have happened if we all would have just relented to his desire to retain the presidency despite the votes opposing him.
Got it. Thanks for that wonderful perspective and thoughtful insight.
