Switzerland has stronger gun control that might be considered draconian by some Americans. Use, storage and transportation of guns and ammunition are more regulated. Most people aren't allowed to carry guns in public. Automatic weapons are banned for civilians. Police may require exam, registration and background check. Licenses can be denied to applicants with criminal record, safety incompetence, addiction problem, severe mental illness or history of violence. License is valid for only one gun per applicant every 6-9 months.
Switzerland hasn't had a mass shooting in decades. Whereas US has a mass shooting almost every day. However Switzerland has one of the highest rates of gun violence in Europe.
We need gun laws that put the illegal gun possessors in jail automatically and for mandatory minimums
The ones who use the weapon to commit, whether carrying legally or not, should go to jail automatically and for much, much longer
and those committing murder must be executed without fail and without delay

US has the highest incarceration rate in the world. History shows the "tough on crime" approach has failed to reduce crime rates although it costs billions of dollars and lead to other problems. Makes more sense to prevent crimes instead of punishing criminals.
Aussie passed "the tough new laws banned the sale and importation of all automatic and semi-automatic rifles and shotguns" since the Tasmanian town of Port Arthur massacre in April 1996, resulted in 35 people killed, and another 23 wounded*.

Two News 13 Orlando employees were shot while covering an earlier shooting incident in Orange County, Florida on Wednesday.
One of the employees has died & the other is in critical condition.
A 9 year old girl was also murdered & her Mom is also in critical condition.
For far too many, life has no value. The governor of this state wants open carry - no permit— no training — no background checks.

So upset that this gun made this guy do all these horrible things. Now, we should use all our senses and let this guy run free cause he never would have done this if that gun didn't force itself upon his person.
Norway has the best incarceration system in the world. One of the lowest in recidivism rates, crime rates and size of prison population. 90% of sentences are for less than a year. No life sentences. Instead of punishment, focus is on rehabilitation and reintegration into society. Goal is to help inmates succeed after release. They leave prison with job skills, confidence and self-respect to contribute to society.
This doesn't involve a shooting; just another random act of violence in school.
A 6 foot 6 270 high school student in the Orlando area violently pushed a teacher's aide knocking her unconscious because she took away his Nintendo switch during class.
As she laid unconscious, this kid punched & kicked her about 15 times until help arrived. After being put in handcuffs, the kid spit on the teacher & threatened to come back to school & kill her.
No wonder teachers are leaving their profession en masse. Many of these kids are absolutely out of control!

Not too many. Timothy McVeigh didn't use any guns, but he was certainly a notable and extremenly rare exception.
Certainly bad guys are always responsible, but certain more-lethal types of weapons enable the wholesale slaughter. For example, the bomb dropped on Hiroshima was not a simple incendiary, and the Sandy Hook shooter did not use a derringer.
So I'm watching Michigan St and Iowa put on a run-n-gun show (no pun intended) when it's commercial time. See video game characters shooting each other and at the end is a boy looking through the scope of a rifle. Apex Legend.

Decades of scientific research found no connection between playing video games and violent acts in real life. For example, University of oxford study. Other countries with similar rates of video game play don't have similar rates of gun violence. Far stronger evidences show more gun violence in countries with more guns and weaker gun control.
