    Jesus Christ . You should both apologize to each other . How come nobody can take a step back ? Ever ? And act in a humane manner ? This is not very diplomatic at all .

    I’m serious . And they say that I don’t talk politics . This conversation that you two are having is the epitome of politics . In its truest form . Animosity and wanting to be right without ever giving credit to the other side for anything because you fear that it will show weakness is the backbone of politics . Everything else splinters off of that core . The genesis .

I have stated the weapon has more social harm than it provides social good. That has been my position. The general population should not have access to weapons that can deliver the frequency and intensity of bullets that these do, there is no need for it. The demand that we can have any weapon we want is not a valid reason, the bad guys having them is not a valid reason, there is no reason why these weapons should have ever been created or allowed to exist in society. This is not hype or exaggeration. Get it together and quit exaggerating your narrative, it is amusing you toss that out at me when you are doing exactly what you are claiming yourself.

    The credit has been given.  We all see a problem.  The question is whether this is the correct way to approach it.  I contend it is not.

    The Left does not have the fortitude or will power to do what needs to be done and has been proven to work.

    Instead they attempt this low-hanging fruit just to 'appease' folks and garner votes.  What exactly does it fix in the long term.

    I applaud that everyone 'sees' a problem.  Credit has been given on that.

Look two posts up you did the same thing you always do. Oh I can question someone and require that their opinion is backed with FACT...that is so subjective and dismissive it is annoying, but hey you know this Ive said it several times here and yet per your usual approach it is side step, divert and reassert. Your data and facts are not the only measure, your sources and views are not empirical or the only source and you might find superiority with selective data collection but that does not mean your position is correct or accurate. Data is not the only source of superiority, data is not fact and data is not reality. Data is collected outcomes which can be shaped and manipulated to form a narrative as we see with your data deluge. Even when someone has an opposing view to me I do not minimize their opinion, in fact most often I validate that and I do the same with you. I am not minimizing your opinion because you are entitled to it, I find flaws in your conclusions based solely on data to form your narrative. My replies to most others and you is that there are other variables to consider...so in the case of this topic you can data me to death and demand I submit a term paper for your approval in order to exist in a discussion, well that is your right but it does not make it right and it does not mean that you can claim superiority to solidify your viewpoint. There is much more to the topic of the AR discussion than solely data, especially when you manipulate the flawed data to form a flawed conclusion.  Notice that I never said you must give me more DATA and more "FACTS" I say that in quotes because facts to you are DATA BASED, that is not the only source of valid facts nor is it the only determining factor in making a decision or drawing a conclusion. A decision solely based on data manipulation and data dominance is flawed and yet that is the crutch you stand on to minimize and validate. My contention is there are other variables than who can google for manipulated data and who has the largest pile of data, even with less data the contention of social value and cost IS valid, it is not DATA based but that does not mean it is not valid or not FACT, I can make a conclusion of social value and social cost without having a dominance of data and statistical superiority. Even if the AR is number 50 in total deaths it does not mean that it is deserving to be in society and available for sale and use. I have stated this several times and yet you will revert back to the two crutches...WHY (why has been explained) and the demand for data dominance. Your discussions go nowhere because your path of discussion is to only demand stats and superiority or WHY...then minimize the WHY as some political partisan narrative when your TOTAL contention is political partisan narrative.

    Vance criticizes Vance as pathetic for asking nation to accept school shootings as a fact of life and attacking common sense gun safety reforms supported by most Americans.  Republicans ban books but they are okay with weapons of war in schools.  Harris says Trump and Vance always choose gun lobby over children.  But children deserve better.

    its not waltz, its not a dance.  The guy is just like Chris Farley on SNL, when in the room with a crowd.  Is he a guy? what is the pro-noun for WALZ no T.

    Yup he has low or no T but don't feel bad for "them" because "you" stole history.  confused

    @Crusher13

     So if his dad had not bought him the AR as a present would there have been a loss of life that we saw? If his parents who are obviously not responsible gun owners and have many issues of their own would not have owned guns or at least locked them up and not kept them at home would there be the loss of life?

    It is toxic to see the gun lobby craft the narrative over and over about the person being the sole blame and there never being responsibility about weapon capacity or reducing/eliminating weapons that regularly harm large numbers of innocents in very short period of time. It is disgusting seeing classroom lessons on how to stop bleeding if a gun is used and how to teach children ways to save their own lives since gun violence is mainstream and so commonplace that this sickening approach is forced to being used.

    Schools should not need to be built in a fashion similar to a prison because our society protects weapons that cause immediate and large loss of life. Limits and boundaries to the scope and scale of weapons is NEVER part of the discussion, nothing is ever done to reduce the weapon it is always some scheme about how to REACT to the use of weapons instead of stopping them from being produced and make them illegal.

    Wars should be outlawed . That way there would be no need for these automatic weapons to be manufactured in the first place . Chicken and the egg problem solved . Eliminate the first problem and all splintering faults and maladies that arise from its termination become inconsequential and irrelevant . Not quite like the plot from 12 Monkeys but close . Why are we even blowing people up and murdering innocent communities by slaughtering them with high tech artillery and bombs in this day and age ? In “ war “ settings ? Seems implausible that we can’t evolve as a species to understand that this type of action is barbaric and ridiculous . Civilized society my ass .

    @wallstreetcappers

     His "psycho" father bought that weapon..wtf..why?? What's going on now is reflective and product of the "society that we have degenerated into. Sadly but that's what happens when we leave our moral mooring and venture away from the Judea Christian values our Founding Fathers configured into our Constitution. Could any of them fathom a young child transgendering. WTF?? That's insanity. That is how fu*cred our SOCIETY has disintegrated into. And to think that's currently acceptable? ??

    I'm all for equal rights but our "SOCIETY " can't be any more deranged as it is currently..Brothers wife, a devout Mormon no less teaches High school ceramics said there are at least 20 kids in her school (out of 250) . In Utah no less.

    Hopefully you can understand how difficult it is to accept these generational changes that are so out of normalcy and mainstream nowadays..especially as an older white maie.. And I'm called the "weird" one....lol..

    Founding Fathers put 2nd Amendment in there so we the citizens "could" protect ourselves from a tyrannical government, which ironically, we currently could be on the precipice of God Forbid.

    Those AR's might just come in handy should it come around if needed. We are at that doorstep.

    His father had no business buying THAT weapon for  that 13yo kid. Terrible Decision. Look at those consequences.. Gonna spend the rest of HIS life in the crossbar motel. Same as JR. We all have to control our minds and NOT let the devil win. He wants us to be mad, emotional and hateful. Kinda like what half of America has for DJT. Very Sad.

     You just did what the NRA does and what the TNC does, blame social issues on someone using a weapon that can dispense a quantity of bullets that kills innocent citizens and not a single word about the social need vs the social cost. Your comment about AR coming in handy is insulting to the kids and teachers that died, and that is all you said about the weapon itself. This is not acceptable and to not hold the weapon responsible is just more of the same NRA corporate line the boogie man government schtick is so dated and extreme it just is not at all enough of a reason for these to be made or legal.

    The rest of your rant about Utah and ceramics and kids trying to find their way that has no place in this discussion. You cant blame LGBT for all the woes in society and people in previous generations acted out just the same but with different tools and different means. The blame for your tangent is social media not LGBT itself. Kids are too fixated on social media and we allow social media to shape our kids, that goes into the laps of the parents and families and teachers and adult influences. I have no acceptance for this backstop on the issue and you cannot use that as an excuse and rationalization that a weapon the kid was given at home gave HIM and ANYONE the ability to kill all these innocents and more, the weapon gave that ability not any sexual preference or mental deficiency, those parents brought that weapon into their house and they will be held accountable, the discussion end the responsibility is held on the weapon and the family only.

    Our SOCIETY is in the gutter! That fact is the reason so many people exposed to social media act out like they do. We are the Laughingstock of the World. FACT..ask some foreigners their opinion of the USA..it's eye opening.

    But on the bright side, I had a veteran Chinese professor in my car reiterated to me that she had faith in the American people aren't stupid enough to go down that road. Tides gonna turn. Americans need their free speech. Censorship has no place here. Hopefully, the SCOTUS won't have to step in on this issue.

    Btw..Good Luck taking away Americans right to bear arms. Will NEVER ever happen. I encourage you to poll your members and find out how many "carry"..you will be surprised.  CRIME has Never been this Bad..Ever..and the peeps know it.

    Btw..you NEED to go research why this KID did what he did... It's the DEVIL at work...deny thatpaint_help

    Good night...you'll never change my mind. I Live in Realville while many others on here live in a bubble and echo chamber. Their choice. And YES, our Founding Fathers probably never imagined an AR being available.  But many of law enforcement have them strapped on their waist, I wonder why??

     They are trained, evaluated and skilled to use a weapon for a specific purpose to defend the laws, not to go shoot up cans or an old car in a field or to shoot a deer or some innocent people as the weapon allows. You come off as callous and uncaring because you are fixated on what you feel is some right and that right is more important than protecting the lives of innocents by eliminating the mass distribution the AR weapons make easy and available.

    Society being in flux doesnt mean an automatic weapon has merit, free speech does not mean AR weapons, there has to be limits to what is available and yet we have no limits and now we have other ways to manufacture weapons, there is no end to the scale and scope of these weapons of death and even one incident in a school to me would mean they should be banned immediately, but no your side tries to blame society, blame LGBT, blame liberals, blame Biden, blame anything but the weapon.

    But if there’s some mass pandemonium or some chaotic happening that occurs due to nature , or by done by ourselves ( i.e. nuclear war ) that causes society to crumble upon itself in an extremely threatening manner that distorts our normal everyday lives ( example : losing the services of our power grids )…..

     wouldn’t it feel super cool to know that you could protect yourself from bands of murderous marauders that had evil intentions in their hearts with your trusty automatic weapon instead of let’s say some bow and arrow or slingshot that takes too long of a time to reload for it to be considered a truly serviceable weapon for protection ?

    I still say that we should ban war on a global scale so that way guns wouldn’t need to be manufactured in the first place and then the dilemma of them falling into the wrong hands would become a moot point .

    Hold on a second,I wonder how basically every other civilized country on this planet doesn't have the same problem with their kids getting shot and killed at their schools by nut jobs with guns,on a mission from the DEVIL.I guess according to your logic,it can only be that the devil doesn't do his dirty work in those countries.It must be that he doesn't have the right paperwork,or he doesn't have jurisdiction to do his work in those other countries,right?Or maybe,just maybe those other countries don't allow the nut jobs in their country easy access to guns,could that be it?According to your logic,it has to be either one of those scenarios,which one sounds more reasonable to you?

    If your answer is still the DEVIL,then you don't live in "Realville",you my friend are residing in Real(delusional)ville.

    @MrWhatsItToYat

     I guess you don't realize that "Government is NOT your friend" unless you're an illegal immigrant.

    Obviously, that's why the 2nd Amendment is the right to bear arms. To protect ourselves from a tyrannical government. The FF's knew the inherent evils of man. Power corrupts. Goes back to making choices. Right or wrong. Good vs Evil.

    Watch the candidate tonight who wants to use the power of government to make your life better or God Forbid, even worse. How's that worked out the past 4 years...Yes, we are at a tipping point with all the disastrous destructive policies of the Biden/Harris administration...an_burn_money

    The American people aren't that stupid to fall for it. If we are, we Sadly deserve what we getan_bomb

    I feel very lucky and fortunate to have lived in the times that I have.  I feel terrible for families that have young children.  What kind of world will it be  like in 10, 20 years...OMFG...especially with the trajectory we are on now. paint_help

    @Crusher13

     Terrible..you just spewed out a page from the NRA website while addressing none of his factual contentions. This isnt about the 2nd amendment nobody is taking ALL your guns away, that is the weakest most insulting concept the NRA tries to pass off. Making guidelines and limits to what is allowed to the GENERAL IDIOTIC PUBLIC is not taking your guns away, that is a childish scare tactic and there has never been an incident in the history of this country to support that garbage. Even when the output and capacity was not expanded and exploited there was not ever a single time in this country that the MILITIA came and killed the gun owners and tossed you all in the clink and took over the country. I really have no idea from a logic perspective how this load of boloney keeps being floated and that ANYONE thinks it has any base in reality. It is an insulting disgusting crutch that the NRA uses as the foundation of their support for never ending expansion of weapons and ammo.

    I would respect a counter position if you ever addressed the factual contentions regarding the deaths and harm from certain weapons and acknowledge that there is no true factual need for weapons of that type instead of using all the grade school responses you have given, that the police have them so I should too, the bad guys have them so I should too, the devil made the kid do it, the kid was imbalanced and he did it not that the gun had any involvement or that had those lousy parents not purchased the weapon or at a minimum held it in a non-home based storage facility that this kid would not have killed these innocent people.

    The weapon is the problem, we can and should limit the scope and capacity of weapons that ANYONE who can breathe is able to purchase, this is the singular issue at hand, your side has flipped off the other side with the put off excuses and about gun training blah blah blah and it has NOT solved the problem. If the NRA wants to float that turd then they need to back it and fund it and expand it and enforce it. Merely having gun training classes is not enough, passive look at my license and approval from some gun shop owner is not enough. You have to bring solutions and execution to the table or you are spitting in the face of those who have died and will die in the future.
