The federal school safety commission set up after the deadly shooting at a Florida high school will not examine the role of guns in school violence, Education Secretary Betsy DeVos said Tuesday.
During a hearing on education spending, DeVos was asked whether the commission that she is chairing will look at guns in the context of school safety.
“That is not part of the commission’s charge per se,” DeVos told a Senate subcommittee overseeing education spending. “We are actually studying school safety and how we can ensure our students are safe at school.”
DeVos has said the commission aims to produce a report on best practices by the end of the year, but other than that the department has disclosed little information about the panel. She said Tuesday the panel will examine 27 different issues around school safety. She did not elaborate.
27 different issues but guns are not one of them.
During here confirmation hearing DeVos was asked if her family had donated over 200 million to the Republican party of the years, she replied "that's possible." Only Republican Senators Murkoski & Collins failed to confirm her.
Drain the Swamp huh??

There is a 13th investigation into EPA head Pruitt.
Environmental Protection Agency chief Scott Pruitt had an agency staffer reach out to Chick-fil-A on government email about a “potential business opportunity,” emails show. The opportunity, according to one former EPA senior staff member, was exploring the possibility of a Chick-fil-A franchise for Pruitt’s wife.
It was the second disclosure in as many days of Pruitt asking agency staff to do personal tasks for him. Democratic lawmakers released a transcript Monday of an interview with a top Pruitt aide who said the EPA chief asked her to reach out to the Trump International Hotel about buying a used mattress.
He's gotta go...
BTW...Kelly Sadler, the POS who made a terrible comment about American hero John McCain, is no longer part of Piggy's communication team. Yeah Piggy...

Deliberately breaking the law is a deplorable first act in a nation in which you claim to seek residency and ultimately citizenship- Are you in favor of selective be enforcement of laws? If so, who gets to decide which laws should be enforced?
I believe the law should be equal for all & not selective. I also believe people seeking to enter our country follow the rules like most people do.
Having said that, separating innocent kids from their parents is the not the America I fought for.

Currently we are talking about over 11,000 kids separated from their parents & many of them are under the age of 12. If you ever had kids, think about this. This is one nasty nasty experience for all involved.
We don't have the sheltered facilities to house these kids & it's typical of Piggy's administration lousy planning. It just like the travel ban that wasn't ready for prime time when it was implemented.
Time to rethink this policy for sure.

Did this start with the Trump administration?
If not, were you equally outraged under the previous administration?
We agree with equal enforcement of the law- we also agree that this is a problem- Immigration reform should be a priority, but the republicans and democrats are equally useless thus far-

I first became aware of our immigration issue during the 1980 Cuban Mariel boatlift. I had moved to SFLA in 78. Castro emptied his prisons & SFLA has never been the same. Couple that with boatloads of Haitians coming onto the shores of Miami, Ft, Lauderdale & the Keys unable to speak English while in many cases never learning our language. I have been outraged for years. My grandparents came through Ellis Island & the legal process as I'm sure many in this forum have similar backgrounds.
I also agree Congress has been pitiful for decades & I don't know if that will change in my lifetime.

"Well, somehow , after he cancelled the summit because they insulted the vice-president, they insulted his national security advisor and they also said that they would go to nuclear war against us, they were going to defeat us in a nuclear war. We said, well we're not gonna have a summit under those circumstances. What Kim Jong Un got back on his hands and knees and begged for it, which is exactly the position you wanna put him in."
Even if this is 100% true, why would you say something like this 6 days before the planned summit? Why insult the leader of the nation you want to negotiate a peaceful nuclear agreement with?
Piggy needs to get rid of loose cannons like Rudy!

Rudy's latest dumb remark..

The British forces relied heavily on Canadian Militia and First Nation Warriors to repel the attempted invasion by US forces. So Canada kinda was involved in the burning of the White House.
The US attempted an invasion of Canada, were defeated...and the White House got burned down.

New policy of Trump administration to stop refugees crossing border by taking away their children as hostages is illegal and horrific. According to United nations, use of family separation as a deterrent to illegal immigration runs counter to human rights standards and violates international law.
There is not supposed to be blanket detention of people seeking asylum according to Hope border institute. Federal law dictates that asylum seekers be referred to immigration official and judge even if they cross border illegally. However Trump policy traumatizes families and impede access to fair process.
American civil liberty union has filed a class action lawsuit against Trump administration. American academy of pediatrics condemn abnormal practice of detaining innocent children.

Did the ACLU file a lawsuit vs The United States government when children are separated from their parent/parents when deployed to war in places like Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan?
