delivering major win for Biden

Congress has passed a $1.2 trillion bipartisan infrastructure bill,
delivering on a major pillar of President Joe Biden's domestic agenda.

The final vote in the House was 228-206.
13 Republicans voted with the Democrats.

Previously in the Senate, the bill passed by a wide bipartisan majority
of 69-30, with 19 Republican senators voting for the bill.

The bill now heads to President Biden's desk to be signed into law.

*ed, note: Personally I am disappointed in the wording
of the headline which CNN chose to use. While Biden/Pelosi and
the Democrats are relieved, the beneficiary of passing this bill
is supposed to be AMERICA -- not Joe Biden!
19 Republicans in the Senate and 13 Republicans in the House
joined this bipartisan effort to help repair AMERICA, because
it is the right thing to do.

The legislation will deliver $550 billion of new federal investments
in America's infrastructure over 5 years, including money for
•  roads, bridges, mass transit, rail,
•  airports, ports and waterways

The package includes a $65 billion investment in improving the nation's
broadband infrastructure, and invests tens of billions of dollars in
improving the electric grid and water systems.

Another $7.5 billion would go to building a nationwide network of
plug-in electric vehicle chargers, according to the bill text.

This is very sorely needed and should be welcome news all around the country, other than a certain resident in Mar-o-Lago

Good news indeed.  Finally, Biden bill gets a historic win in largest US infrastructure investment in over a decade.  Largest investment in transportation in US history.  Sorely needed since US infrastructure system earned a C- score from American society of engineers earlier this year.  S&G global system estimates bill could boost US economy over the next 8 years. 

Fubah I hope you keep this thread updated with where the money is accurately being spent so we can track real progress.   If this bill is going to require SSN for crypto transactions over a set amount then the people should get to see where how this money is being spent. 

CA high speed train budget has already been spent and the train is not finished. They asked for more and got it. double the budget and still not finished so they need more. Not very well planned and projected. Far over budget and far behind on time.  100 billion gone...so far. Still not finished

I hope this budget is spent wisely so it does actual good. After all, you're paying for it.

The infrastructure bill was the result of weeks of negotiations over the
spring and summer between Republicans, Democrats and Biden.

In August, the bill was approved in the Senate on a bipartisan 69-30 vote.

The bipartisan infrastructure bill would provide the largest investment
in transit and water projects in history, the biggest investment in
passenger railways since the creation of Amtrak and the most bridge
investment since the creation of the interstate highway system.

Less than a quartet is for actual infrastructure... blue collar jobs... just give the peeps enough crumbs..hello democratic plantation!!!!

The  BIPARTISAN  infrastructure bill would provide:

•  $110 billion for roads and bridges. More than 45,000 bridges nationwide are rated in poor condition.
The bill also includes $16 billion for major projects that are too large or complex for traditional funding.

•  $66 billion for Amtrak for passenger and freight rail. The bill aims to eliminate Amtrak’s maintenance backlog and to modernize the Northeast Corridor.

•  $65 billion to expand broadband internet access. The White House estimated as many as 40 million Americans lack broadband access.

•  $65 billion to rebuild the electric grid with renewable energy  and thousands of miles of new power lines.

•  $55 billion to upgrade water systems, with a goal of replacing the country’s lead service pipes.

HUGE for creating more jobs.

there is so much more to infrastructure than just roads and bridges

•  $42 billion for airports, waterways and port infrastructure. (Airports would receive $25 billion)

•  $39 billion for public transit. The bill aims to repair and upgrade transit systems and make stations more accessible to elderly and passengers with disabilities.

CA is estimated to spend 80 billion (it started much lower and the price keeps going up as more money is needed. It's likely going to be over 100 billion by completion if ever completed) on the high speed train from LA to the Bay area. It's still not complete and far behind schedule. Let's hope the gov't can do better with this 110 billion for roads and bridges.
