Covid-19 Good And Bad

Sundance,I understand taking this HCQ cocktail is not for everyone ..Although it is likely to be safe for 90% of the population,  it could pose serious and potentially lethal risks to a number of those susceptible to heart conditions.. This HCQ mixture may have potential cardiac side effects to those people .. which can lead to sudden cardiac death.

However,another drug looks very promising ...The FDA has given fast-track approval to a clinical trial involving a rheumatoid arthritis drug thought to help patients with COVID-19 pneumonia..  The drug, Tocilizumab (Actemra) it smooths an immune system in distress..stopping immune systems that are in overdrive..From my understanding it's the immune system (IM)that is actually killing people not the virus per se......after the immune system is activated it creates a cytokine storm ( cell signaling) and after the IM defeats the virus ..it will start attacking the body’s own healthy tissue (e.i. lungs)..So ,it's these drugs like HCQ + zinc et al. and Tocilizumab are trying to do the same thing..The question is ?  Which one has the least side effects (sometimes fatal) for the majority of the infected population ..

A vaccine will get us back to as normal as possible but that is still months away.

Having said that, if I was in a real bad situation unless something was done, I would try anything to stay alive.

I don't fault with anyone for trying anything to stay alive.  

The coronavirus crisis is devastating the news industry. Many newspapers won’t survive it.

Sports sections are almost non-existent; jobs, want ads & advertising are scant. Thousands of jobs will disappear.

Unfortunately for the industry, the printed news is already old news when it hits the driveways of customers.

All I can say is that once this first wave passes, we must as a country be prepared for the second wave that is expected to come in the fall (per the experts), if not sooner. 

This means an effective treatment or therapy, such as HCQ cocktail , etc., must be discovered and deemed safe,  and we need to greatly increase production on testing kits for all Americans. 

IMHO, it's only when we have BOTH of these can be start to have some semblance of normality w/ mass gatherings, etc.   Otherwise, I think people may still be fearful in mass gatherings, stadiums.  

Of course, a vaccine is the silver bullet, but that is not expected for at least a year.  We better start working on an effective treatment and ramp up of the test kits during this valuable time..

However, I believe the sharing of information among countries keeps us all safer. Will there be mistakes, sure. Performing due diligence on any information is critical and important step we can't just jump to another country's conclusions.

I also believe in every country supporting WHO financially equally. The support could be in scientists, laboratories, intellectually as well as innovations because all of this has a "financial" value. The US has budgeted a decline in financial support from 122 million to 58 for 2021. I'd like to know how much other prosperous countries contribute.

Also before we take any steps, we would need a clear plan to replace the data gathering & value provided by WHO. It's like quitting a job before you have another. Not a smart move IMO.

There's literally not a single soul I follow. I sometimes think i'm the only person that thinks for myself. All you people do is regurgitate shit you've seen on TV or have read on the internet. Travel from China has been banned for about a month and from all countries for a few weeks. If you don't think this has made a difference than you are out of your mind.

Sure, to a certain extent we all do.  My point is you should research and question why you guys have been so wrong about this so far.  You cannot just take the things you see on TV or read on the internet and run with it.

And seeing as how most of these diseases aren't originating on our soil, yes i'm fine with 26 million of our tax dollars going towards staying in the loop. So far this has NOT “...make the swine flu look like a mild cold”.

No it has not been spot on.  Not even close.  Way fewer people are being killed, way fewer are being hospitalized, and way lower death rate than predicted.  AND that is a good thing of course.  But no media or liberal want to even consider admitting this!

Way fewer people are dying, way fewer are being hospitalized because we've essentially been on lockdown for the past month. And yet, we still have not hit our plateau. I don't know why sick individuals like you all seek to politicize everything but this disease is every bit as horrific as it was made out to be.
