They have thousands of cases and they have cities that are more densely populated than NYC. 

Why isn’t it spreading at the same rate?

I'm sure too, except not sarcastically. So what is it, Tox? All a comspiracy to make Trump look bad? Or a conspiracy to rob us of our civil liberties? A conspiracy that Italy, France, ect. is in on? And that's the reason Brazil's numbers aren't higher, even though they are sharply increasing over the past few weeks? Not because of the lack of internationsl travel, specifically from China and esrly hotspots in Europe? Not because they were behind the curve enough to take early mitigation efforts? Things as simple as washing ones hands. Also, if Brazil's numbers continue on their sharp increase, will you flip flop and make them a part of the global conspiracy of countries with high case numbers? I mean, you're kind of contradicting yourself. In one post it's "Hey, our numbere are better than the UK's" as if to say, "Our numbers aren't that bad." Then in the next, "Our numbers are fake. Hospitals are cooking the books." You're making a mockery of people's deaths. And maybe you don't know people who have died from covid, I would imagine you're in Nebraska or something, but I do. So what exactly are you getting at? Is the conspiracy about hospitals and money?.About robbing us of our civil liberties? Or about making Trump look bad? I just don't get your angle.

“We have not seen any evidence that shows the travel restrictions stopped or slowed down transmission of the virus that causes COVID-19,” Nuzzo told us via email. “It is possible that it did, but there is no evidence to show this. Rather there are a number of reasons to believe that this may very well not be the case.”

Prior to the US travel restrictions, China began suspending outbound flights,” Nuzzo said. “Airlines also began canceling flights due to low travel volume. Then, the US implemented travel restrictions, which further reduced travel from China. The exception was Americans who were returning home from China. These folks were subject to quarantine upon return. A number of cases were found among these individuals. If you only test travelers from China and you greatly reduce the number of travelers coming from China, then you would be likely to not find many cases.

“But it doesn’t mean the virus hadn’t entered the US prior to travel restrictions,” Nuzzo said, as data now suggests occurred in Washington state.

The authors concluded that travel restrictions introduced by the Chinese government in Wuhan in Jan. 23  and the halting of airline flights to and from China starting in early February at first slowed the spread of the disease to the rest of the world. Even still, a large number of individuals exposed to the virus had been traveling internationally without being detected and, the authors note, the number of imported cases around the world went up in a matter of weeks.

There is also data a available that reveals that although this virus originated in China, international travelers from Europe bought it to NYC.

 BTW Stu .. Useless is your word not mine. I never said it was useless and it's impossible to determine how many if any lives were saved because the virus was already in the country when Trump initiated the travel restrictions. That's a fact!

Fair enough, midnight. It has definitely been here since last year. Even my own nephew had his senior football season cut short by a mysterious virus that caused severe fever, night sweats, body aches, and labored breathing. Doctors didn't know what it was, just that it wasn't the flu, and he recovered without hospitalization.

Didn't pass it on to his parents, and as far as I know, nor did he to his teammates.

Plenty of video tapes have showed people who are protesting to reopen in many places but not wearing face masks and crowds shoulder to shoulder. God forbid, another Covid-19 spike in a few weeks is very worrisome.   

Deaths in the US are down compared to 2018, 2019? 

Probably because of two reasons. 1. Sheltering in place. Less murders, car accidents, ect. 2. People dying of covid-19 with pre-existing conditions, i.e cancers, ect. Doesn't mean that their deaths being attributed to corona are false. Just that they would have died of something anyway.

Many people who's deaths were attributed to Conid-19 were comorbid.. probability over 1/3rd.. Just in New York state, over 86% of reported COVID-19 deaths involved at least one comorbidity..

It probably balances out Slim; there are thousands to be factored in that were not counted as coronavirus cases because they were either turned away from hospitals and clinics without a diagnosis and/or simply died at home with "the flu". That number is also impossible to determine, but most experts will guesstimate it was in the thousands. 

I guess if you want to just figure "they would have died of something anyway" then we can apply that to the whole human race and just ignore the pandemic altogether.

Not to mention about 34-35 % of the reported virus deaths have been residents of nursing homes. Crazy number!

There's a pub I love in the neighborhood. Every Thursday I'd sit at the bar, have some wings or a Philly cheese steak while capping the Saturday ponies. The place hasn't been open during the virus & as much as I love the place, the owners and having fun with other patrons, there's no way I'm going to frequent the place again until I am absolutely ready. I'll get take out food when they reopen but I won't be parking my butt for a couple of hours liked I did in the past until a vaccine is available.

We know so little about covid and no way am I jumping the gun on this. I'm going to be safe rather than sorry. 

The City of Angels will likely keep their dystopian lock down going till August.

The  statistics  making their decision is 1569 deaths out of 10M people. This comes to .00015 of 1%! 

I dont understand how you tell 10M people with those statistics  to stay in their home till we tell you it is ok to come out and play!
