Teachers unions are waging court battles across the US to challenge unsafe and politically motivated timetables for reopening schools that risk exposing people to coronavirus.  For example, court has ruled in favor of teachers in Florida.  American federation of teachers is supporting lawsuits in multiple states.  Most teachers would be comfortable returning to schools if US center for disease control guidelines are implemented but many states haven't.  Unlike other countries that have virus spread under control, Trump administration refuses responsibility to ensure safe conditions.  Instead schools are threatened with federal funding cuts if they don't reopen prematurely.

A handful of the dozens of experimental COVID-19 vaccines in human testing have reached the last and biggest hurdle — looking for the needed proof that they really work as a U.S. advisory panel suggested Tuesday a way to ration the first limited doses once a vaccine wins approval.

AstraZeneca announced Monday its vaccine candidate has entered the final testing stage in the U.S. The Cambridge, England-based company said the study will involve up to 30,000 adults from various racial, ethnic and geographic groups.

Two other vaccine candidates began final testing this summer in tens of thousands of people in the U.S. One was created by the National Institutes of Health and manufactured by Moderna Inc., and the other developed by Pfizer Inc. and Germany's BioNTech.

"To have just one vaccine enter the final stage of trials eight months after discovering a virus would be a remarkable achievement; to have three at that point with more on the way is extraordinary," Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar said in a statement.

NIH Director Francis Collins tweeted that his agency "is supporting several vaccine trials since more than one may be needed. We have all hands on deck."

Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases,
made a “plea” to Americans to continue coronavirus mitigation efforts as Labor Day
weekend approaches.

“The issue that we're facing right now is we're entering in a day or two into the
Labor Day weekend and we know from prior experience that when you get into
holiday weekends — the Fourth of July, Memorial Day — there's a tendency of people
to be careless, somewhat, with regard to the public health measures that we keep
recommending over and over again,” Fauci said in an interview with MSNBC today.

"So I really want to use this opportunity almost to have a plea to the people in this
country to realize that we really still need to get our arms around this and to
suppress these types of surges that we've seen. We can do it."

Surges in coronavirus were recorded after Memorial Day weekend and the Fourth of July.

Desperate for a quick remedy, Trump promotes convalescent plasma despite insufficient evidence on safety and effectiveness.  Controversial emergency authorization by Food drug administration is condemned by Harvard, National institute of health and National institute of infectious diseases.  Trump's politicization of FDA is the most blatant in US history according to Public citizen watchdog.  Political pressure damages FDA credibility during the greatest public health crisis in a century.  But public trust is essential to ending pandemic. Otherwise millions fewer people would be inclined to be vaccinated out of safety concerns, making it harder to control the disease.

If Pelosi can get her hair done while not wearing a mask then how serious is this?   Not very.   If it was then she would not get hair done in a salon that was closed by the state.   Oh yeah...  demanding people to wear a mask while she did not.   This hypocrisy will add more trump votes.   

The world is waiting with bated breath for the development of a vaccine to defeat the novel coronavirus. Although a number of biotech firms have been aggressively working toward developing a treatment for the deadly COVID-19, the FDA is yet to give approval to one. That said, Trump has urged U.S. states to get ready to distribute a potential COVID-19 vaccine by Nov 1, two days before the presidential election.

This has once again renewed hopes of a vaccine among millions. Biotech firms and drugmakers across the globe are pumping in millions of dollars to develop a vaccine to wipe out the deadly coronavirus, with many already ramping up production of their vaccine candidates in the hope of getting an approval.

According to Public citizen, Trump administration's mismanagement worsens treatment rationing for at least 38 hospitals in 12 states.  States with more coronavirus hospitalization received less remdesirvir.  US department of health didn't follow distribution criteria for allocating drug based on hospital burden.  Instead politics determine who receives medical supplies during pandemic at the expense of people's health.

Trump's response to pandemic is worse than giving up.  He has prioritized politics over public health at the expense of American lives.  His administration imposes political agenda on government agencies that are supposed to be scientific.  Now Food drug administration issues emergency authorizations for  drugs with unproven safety and effectiveness.  US center for disease control weakens guidelines to allow fewer testing when more is needed to catch asymptomatic spreaders of virus. 

Coronavirus keeps spreading out of control because of no federal mask mandate.   Institute for health metrics estimate that if 95% of people wear masks for upcoming months, the number of new deaths would drop by almost 49%.  That would save nearly 70,000 lives.  Mask wearing is simple but vaccination of population is much harder.    For years, Trump administration has been undermining public health agencies that work on vaccines.  Irony is that Trump's push for early vaccine increases risk of failure in achieving herd immunity.  Many people won't take a vaccine if they don't trust it.

Over 60 million Americans got h1n1 under Democratic ‘leadership’. Under Trump over 6 million got covid-19. We got lucky h1n1 wasn’t even as deadly as the flu. Covid-19 is 10 times as deadly as the flu. Nothing democrat ‘leadership’ did to stop the spread of h1n1 would’ve slowed the spread of covid-19.

Remember,  some of these news outlets still think the protests are non violent.    Slow Joe just jumped on wagon because his poll numbers falling .   More concerned about numbers than citizens.    They have no shame,  pathetic.

So far Obama administration's handling of mulltiple outbreaks have been superior to Trump's response to coronavirus.  Previously, US was ranked best prepared country against pandemics because of Bush and Obama administrations.  But under Trump, US has the most coronavirus cases and deaths of any country in the world.  12,500 swine flu deaths in one year versus over 180,000 coronavirus deaths in 8 months.  Under Obama, a vaccine was developed 5 months after first US case.   In a crisis, Trump has failed basic leadership by not taking situation seriously and not telling people the truth.

Chairman Jay Powell as well as vast majority of heath experts all agree with that Americans should wear masks, science over politics. 

Let's break this down using statistics from the CDC.

1. There has been 11,000 deaths in  the United States caused solely by Covid 19.

2. The United States has an estimated population of 320M

3. The death rate is a miniscule  000034%.

4. This is equal to 3 over 100,000 of 1%. Basically does not register statistically.

How many of you can not wait for the much  anticipated vaccine with numbers like that?

No question he is risking everyone's health just for his own personal gain.
