Nation's report card shows lower test scores due to pandemic disruption.  But those scores are still higher than scores from 30 years ago.  Probably, test scores should return to normal range in the future.  Oddly, states that reopen earlier didn't fare much better than states that reopen later because scores are affected by other things such as poverty and quality of students.  Top American students are among the best in the world although the rest tends to be average.

Governor Ron DeSantis’ lawyers were forced by the court to define “woke.” The lead lawyer described it as “The belief there are systemic injustices in American society and the need to address them.”

He is going to lose the fight against the State Supreme court though on the "woke" University BS law that was passed and already shot down.  That one doesn't hold much water in the court of law.  

Speaking at a private event over the weekend, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said his administration plans to hold vaccine manufacturers accountable for making false claims about vaccine side effects.

“We are going to work to hold these manufacturers accountable for this mRNA [vaccine] because they said there was no side effects, and we know that there have been, and there have been a lot,” DeSantis said at the event.

DeSantis added, “This is something that we’re going to lead on in Florida. We’re probably going to have some announcements over the next three or four weeks on that.”

What the Governor failed to say was "which vaccine manufacturers stated there were no side affects." 

Boy does his bullshit sound familiar.

Scientific community is outraged that DeSantis is politicizing medicine to appeal to anti-vaxxers base.  Using flawed data, DeSantis and his surgeon general are misleading the public about the safety and effectiveness of covid vaccines.  Public health officials didn't lie about vaccines which have proven better than expected.  Fact is vaccine benefits far outweigh rare side effects.    Risk of heart inflammation is greater from covid infection than from vaccine.  Commonwealth fund estimates covid vaccination has prevented over 3 million deaths and 18 million hospitalizations in the US.

What is the issue with this exactly ???   

Florida will hold the medical establishment accountable by:

• Creating a grand jury to investigate mRNA shots & Big Pharma

• Investigating cardiac-related deaths tied to the mRNA vaccine

• Forming a Public Health Integrity Committee to oversee the medical establishment

Creating TRANSPARENCY in what has been a NON-TRANSPARENT environment is not a bad thing......UNLESS YOU HAVE SOMETHING TO HIDE. 

Investigation could prove to show nothing out of the ordinary.....could be bad, could be a nothing burger.  Regardless, don't you WANT to know what is real and what is fake?  I know that is a difficult question for most of you, you have no desire to learn, evolve your mind, think critically and make your OWN INFORMED DECISIONS.....some of you sheep just want to be told what to think, how to feel, what to believe in.

.In the US, no one has died from vaccine myocarditis according to Center for disease control.  In contrast, there has been thousands of covid deaths among people younger than 30 years old.  However the rare risk of myocarditis is misleadingly used to argue covid vaccines are harmful and that young people are better off without them.  Actually, vaccine benefits outweigh risks in all populations.  World health organization has rejected doctor Kulldorf's "great Barrington declaration" as unethical, infeasible and dangerous pseudoscience

I welcome the Desantis' investigation of the vaccine.

Not one of those who say it's deadly, everytime an athlete dies it was the vax type of thing. Hell, I took the J&J back in 2021 after much deliberation. Remember staying in the waiting room with several others for 20 minutes after the shot. The nurse there was regurgitating false numbers from the CDC and pandemic of unvaccinated. I gave my input regurgitating Minnesota dept. of health website numbers that contradicted the CDC numbers. She was happy to get me out of there. (was smart enough not to open my mouth til after the shot )

The vaccine is not deadly, not even close. But no doubt real scientific information has/had been suppressed. 

Actually the conclusions of this investigation should really contradict the wild anti-vaxers yet prove there are enough issues that the benefit/reward tilts for different people and mandatory vaccination not scientifically sound. That's what they really fear, the truth.

In November, Florida voters kicked out a judge who issued a controversial ruling denying an abortion to a 17-year-old girl because she had C-average grades in school.

Now Gov. Ron DeSantis has appointed him to an even higher court, the Sixth District Court of Appeals.

For a corrupt organization,blind  loyalty is more important than competence.  Disturbing that DeSantis and Trump tend to appoint unqualified people based on politics.  Florida surgeon general has no professional experience in infectious diseases but instead rely on pseudoscience to oppose masks and vaccines.

Federal judge rules DeSantis has violated constitution by wrongfully firing Florida attorney.  No evidence of Warren misconduct, incompetence or neglect of duty.  DeSantis war against wokeness is a war against the first amendment which cost taxpayers millions of dollars.  Similar to Trump, both men have lost more legal cases than they have won while in office.

To appeal to paranoid anti-vaxxers, DeSantis politicizes fear of vaccines proven safe and effective rather than protect public health.  He embraces dangerous and unethical policies which have never been proven to work.  No surprise Florida has the 13th worst covid death rate in the US.  He misrepresents Cleveland clinic study to falsely claim vaccinated people are more likely to be infected.    No other state accepts his twisted and unscientific conclusions.  University of Maryland study found US vaccination has prevented over 3 million covid deaths and 18 million hospitalizations.

The state of Florida has the 2nd highest percentage of elderly population yet is 13th in death rate of a virus that kills a median age of 78. 

Florida has no state income tax. 

After decades of rapid population increase, Florida now is the nation’s fastest-growing state for the first time since 1957, according to the U.S. Census Bureau’s Vintage 2022 populationestimates released on Dec 22, 2022. 

In a perhaps unexpected acknowledgment, @GovKathyHochul says New York State ‘must reverse the trend of people leaving our state.’"

After signing more voter suppression laws, DeSantis faces 3 new lawsuits according to Mother Jones.  In Florida, NCAACP, League of women and Hispanic federation allege new restrictions violate constitution, make voting harder, increase purging of voters list and limit voters registration.

American association of professors warn that DeSantis threatens academic freedom and workers rights at colleges and universities.  He bans books, censors critical race theory or gender studies, limit job protection for faculty and opposes diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives.  In lawsuit, judge ruling in favor of free speech calls culture war "dystopian."
